Fun fact: the Ghostface in dbd is not from scream, he has his own original story wich is actually really damn good, dude is probably one of the smartest ghostfaces. He makes articles and news of himself as if he was one of the main investigators against ghostface, and sets up cameras to "spy" on ghostface even tho it is himself, so he literally avoids suspiction by playing the strong smart detective, and by the end he reveals himself, escapes and then dissapears captured by the "ENTITY" nevet to be seen again.

If you're wondering why they are in the forest or in random places, it is because the killers and survivors were taken by an entity and put in a realm. That's not the full story, but a dbd lore lover can explain it better

As you said, DBD started out as a small game and that's why you can see resemblance between the first few original killers and famous killers from media; like Trapper - Jason (mask covering the whole face, uses machete), Spirit - Sadako (both being grudge spirits coming back to life due to intense emotions) or the most obvious Hillbilly and Leatherface as they are nearly indistinguishable from each other

You should look at the alternate cosmetics for some survivors: For the Left for Dead chapter, the OG 4 (Dwight, Meg, Claudette, and Jake) have alternate costumes where they can dress up in the outfits of Ellis, Zoey, Rochelle, and Francis. They’re not changed to look exactly like them, but DbD has taken that approach to their other survivors. For example with the first Resident Evil chapter, Leon and Jill are the two survivors you can play as but their alternate cosmetics from the store can change them to Claire and Chris. Steve in the Stranger Things chapter can become Jonathan. Cheryl can become Lisa Garland, Alessa Gillespie, Cybil Bennett, and James Sunderland. I don’t know if it’ll ever be in the store or if it was a limited time offer in The Rift (DbD’s version of a battle pass) but players could unlock the Wassup mask from the Scary Movie franchise. One of Pinhead’s costumes could change him to the Chatterer (the one cenobite that has no eyes and his teeth chatter) And DbD has collaborated with other folks in the past for their costumes! They collaborated with Attack on Titan and some of the survivors have cosmetics inspired by the franchise (squad outfits) and I think the killer The Oni has a Titan costume. And if you’re familiar with the horror KZfaq channel Crypt TV, their monsters have appeared as alternate costumes for three of DbD’s killers: The Doctor can become The Look-See monster The Hag can become The Birch Witch The Huntress can become The Mordeo. I’m excited to see even more collabs if they ever run out of liscenses to buy.

I love that you've finally checked out DBD! A few things: Survivors can't outrun the killer, since the base speed of most of them is slightly faster than Survivors running speed. Fortunately all of the licensed chapters are still playable, except Stranger Things. However, people who bought the DLC can still play as the characters. The Legion can't disguise as survivors. The Legion (in lore), is a group of Teens, who are full of rebellious spirit. They were basically DBD's version of Ghostface before they got the licence. Thier ability in-game is a chain hit-and-run power. They break out into a fast sprint, helping them catch up with survivors. When they hit a survivor while running, they injure and inflict Deep Wound upon them. Deep Wound is a timer, where if the survivor doesn't mend the wound, they will go into the dying state. (Timer doesn't decrease while in chase) After inflicting Deep Wound, The Legion's power bar is refilled, and they can sense the location of nearby survivors, allowing them chain hits and maintain a lot of pressure. They're pretty fun. On the topic of Ghostface, his inclusion is a unique one. See, they didn't get the license for Scream, they got the license to use the Ghostface mask. Scream doesn't own the Ghostface mask/costume. FunWorld does. That's why there's no characters from Scream in DBD. So Ghostface in DBD is an original character, and he's easily the scariest (and the most competent) Ghostface in fiction. Blight doesn't spit anything. His power revolves around dashing and bouncing off the environment. Players like to dub him as a "Living Pinball". The Trickster isn't from an anime. He's a sadistic K-Pop star, who likes to implement the screams of his victims into his music. That's not necessarily The Ring. DBD collaborated with the owners of Ringu, the original story from Japan, which America later adapted into a film called The Ring. So it's not Samara in DBD, it's Sadako. Yoichi is from the Ringu film, but he was a child in the film, and in DBD he's an adult. I feel like this is worth mentioning since the characters are quite different between the original Japanese story, and the American adaptation. Yeah, Knight can summon guards, but only one at a time. There's rumours that Alien will be the next chapter. Great reaction!

So, the thing with the Oni mask is that the person who wore it was the Spirit's ancestor, a legendary samurai named Kazen. He was enraged and awoken when Rin's(the Spirit) father murdered her and her mother with the family sword, the same sword that he used long ago, and returned as an Oni to take vengeance on the father, but was instead kidnapped by an Entity.

That video is such a great reminder that we are very lucky to have a game like this. The Community likes to complain a lot about different things, but in the end it is a great time to be alive for a horror fan.

All DLCs except Stranger Things are still available in-game, so you can still play Silent Hill or Ghostface or whoever you desire. This game can be competitive, but I feel like unless you're trying to be competitive or play to win, it plays very chill and I highly recommend playing it! It's very addicting. We usually get a killer and survivor every 3 months, so there's always content too. Might I suggest Killer Moris (finisher animations) or Rift Trailers (Battlepass videos).

One thing is that this ghost face isn't any of the ghost face's from scream. The licensed the ghost face mask/costume and then used it to make an original killer. Which i think is very cool

I don't know if someone has already said this but you should totally react to the moris for the killers. Moris are offerings killers use that they can do a special animation on surviors.

Neat thing about the Spirit and the Oni is that their real names (All the kills have real names if you look into their lore) is Rin Yamaoka (spirit) and Kazan Yamaoka (Oni) They are related by.....I think it was 700+ years? I know Kazan was from the end of Feudal Japan and Rin is more in the modern era.

Funny for you to mention the blood mask for ghost face, as they added that as a cosmetic in a rift (this game’s version of a battle pass) not to long ago, and it’s also animated with blood dripping down.

The other girl you didn’t know for the second resident evil dlc is Rebecca chambers, she’s the protagonist in RE 0 and a side character in RE 1 and I think a few other games I can’t remember. She was the youngest member of S.T.A.R.S. Being only 18 in the first two games I named above.

A lot of characters such as Bill, Amanda Young, Tapp, and even some original characters were taken by the Entity before they would have died. If you’re looking for lore related content on characters, Pixel Bush and Ahzymovs are great channels to check out! For informative gameplay content, not Otzdarva is hands down the best recommendation :) DBD has taken a turn toward competitive play recently. It’s in a really weird spot right now with its rank system but, if you’re just looking to have fun, custom kill your friends matches are the way to go. It gives you access to all the perks and items so you can play around with builds, see what you like, what works best for your play style before you dunk your blood points (in game currency) into whatever character said perks are tied to. Each character comes with 3 unique perks lol so there are A LOT of different perks in the game.

I’m impressed with your knowledge of all these horror characters. But that’s probably because most reactions I see to DBD trailers aren’t even really into horror like that. Great reaction 👍

If you pay attention, you can see the trappers traps and disarm them. The wraith isn't totally invisible, there's a little shimmer you can see to get away from him. You can also use a flashlight to burn him out of invisibility. The hillbilly can chainsaw really fast, but he can't really turn, so you could try to dodge to the side. The nurse is slow, and can only blink a few times before she has to recharge. Michael Myers is difficult to play against. He's slow, but he's stealthy as hell. The hag places traps around the map that she can teleport to. You can crouch over them so they don't go off, and you can make them disappear with a flashlight. The doctor puts out large fields of electricity that can stun you and make things difficult to do. The only counter is to stay away from him. (You CAN still play as bill) The huntress' hatchets are brutal, but she only gets a few, and she has to reload. A good huntress can hit you from across the map. Leatherface is pretty slow but the chainsaw has a lot of mobility. It's rough sometimes. Nobody really uses Freddy anymore, but he can create fake pallets and turn invisible. Pig is a stealthy killer, and she can ambush and come out of seemingly nowhere. Her traps activate after a Gen is done, you can try to take them off but if you're too slow, it's bye-bye. The clown can zone you by throwing chemical bottles to disorient you. The best counter is just running in a straight line. The oni collects blood after he hits you. If he powers up, he can move really fast and insta down you. The spirit can phase and move quickly and invisible, but when she phases, there's a sound you can listen to to kind of tell where she is, and she can't see you she can only hear. Legion is really powerful when survivors group together, if you split up there's a lot of counterplay. And legion is just a normal dude, he doesn't really have any supernatural powers. Plague can throw up on stuff to make survivors sick, or just throw up on survivors themselves. Her big power is to hurt them with the vomit instead of making them sick. Ghostface is stealthy as fuck and can stalk survivors to make them go down in one hit. A survivor can look at him and bring him out of stealth, but it takes a few seconds. Demogorgon sets up portals and can travel the entire map by digging through the portals. He's the only licensed killer you can't buy anymore, but if you had him before the DLC went away, you can still play him. Deathslinger is a ranged killer that can drag survivors to him to hit them again. Pretty badass. Pyramid head has a pretty decent range attack, but he can also put down traps that the survivors can walk through. Blight is incredibly fast, and bounces off walls to change directions. There's not much counterplay aside from staying away from open spaces and watching your corners. The twins are another one nobody really uses. But it's basically playing as two killers, you can switch between them. But if you miss an attack from Victor, a survivor can smash him. Eventually, he comes back, tho. The Trickster has very quick ranged attacks and has to reload occasionally. The counterplay is staying behind cover but that's about it. Nemesis has two zombies that walk around the map and make things difficult for survivors. He has a heavy attack, and a decent ranged attack. You CAN play as Leon, Jill, claire, and chris. They added Ada when they gave us Wesker. Pinhead is slow, but he can use his chains to make a survivor slow down while they try to break the chains. The artist can place birds that can travel the whole map, they usually don't insure you unless she hits you twice. They're more for information. The onryo can teleport the map through tvs, but the survivors can turn the tvs off for a short time. The dredge is the first killer that makes survivors avoid lockers. He can teleport around the map inside lockers, which is kinda crazy. If you watch for the locker shaking, you can get away, though. Wesker is POWERFUL. He's quick, he's agile, and he's a sassy little bitch. The knight is okay, but it isn't the best. He can place basically a ghost knight, which will chase you for a few seconds. The counterplay is just run in a straight line. The skull merchant can place drones that tell her if survivors are in the radius, and if they stay in the radius long enough she can track their exact location for a short time. Counterplay = run.

A fun fact: the survivor in the trapper (1st video) is the same survivor as the one in the hillybilly (3rd video) clip. They mixed up some of the races of survivors early on but she was already in the game trailer. To your point about diversity, Dead by Daylight has a lot of representation which is cool.

Definitely dont let how competitive the game can be turn you off, I always play as ghostface and I can tell I'm the worst at playing him but I still have fun even if I only get 1 kill same goes with survivor, The chances of me ever not having fun at all is very low even if I do absolutely horrible.

Each killer and survivor all have quite in-depth lore explanations ingame on their profile pages, about a couple paragraphs long each. Id definetly reccomend checking them out if youre interested, theyre actually quite cool (except for the most recent dlc alot of ppl were dissapointed by that ones story and lore connections lol)

As a 100% Mikey main, he's definitely in the game. Unfortunately, unless you're going for jump scare Myers, he's very weak in the game :( but I still love him

Play the tutorial first, to understand the mechanics. Every killer has an ability unique to them, besides a basic right hand swing. Non licensed killers, and survivors can be bought with in game currency. The next chapter is expected to change a few things. You can also play custom games with up to 5 people or add bots

If you didn't catch on, this video wasn't only trailers, but teasers as well. Like Saw, The Spirit and The Oni got teased without being named, along with others. Edit: also I have no idea how you don't like Ringu. It's one of the few horror movies I've watched and I am absolutely crazy about it! It's so good!

Don't get me wrong, I love the game, but some people do play as if you have their family hostage or something. Only thing scary about it is the jump scares with stealth killers. And specifically one of the Huntresses skins has a spooky lullaby. I use my time in game nowadays trying to flirt with killers. 😂 Edit: I still think the trailer for Ghostface is the best one they ever did. Makes me laugh still. I love playing as Ghostface. All licensed chapters are still available except Stranger Things.

The girl you don't know is Rebecca Chambers who appeared in both RE0 and RE1. My girl has not been in another game in a long while but she was part of Stars. One of the youngest members having been recruited at the age of 18 after graduating university and is a super genius plus the medic of the group. After the events of RE1, she left Raccoon City to reattend University to get a few more degrees. She does appear in the animated movies plus some theater script plays.

If you're able to keep in your mind that this is a video game and you should have fun, the game isn't so intimidating! It really is unfortunate that there's only one queue, but ranks reset every 13th of the month so it doesn't feel too important tbh. I recommend it, I have so much fun with it even when im dying!

Haven't played this in years, super toxic player base. Love the trailers and lore, though, so I like keeping up with those. Btw, have you heard if a game called Identity V? It's from some of the same devs and has nearly identical gameplay with a "Coraline" aesthetic. I mention it because they've had limited run crossover events with Danganronpa and a few characters are cosmetic skins in it. Specifically, survivor skins for Makoto, Kyoko, Junko, Mikan, Nagito, Chiaki and Hajime as well as a killer skin for Monokuma.

They root the trailers in the lore most of the time especially with original killers. So the reason Legion (Frank in the trailer) is called Legion and looked like they could disguise themselves was because they were showcasing the killer as just a normal person that's a serial killer and that one person is actually a group of people who you can choose through the cosmetics. Fun fact: His character won an award for "Best original character" at the Canadian Game awards and got a free mask with Mapple leaf symbol in the game to celebrate. 4:30 Yes it is. Survivors see in 3rd person but killers do in first. Also yes, this particular killer, name's The Wraith, can turn invisible by ringing a bell. The seconds killer added in the game and he was the first of the "stealthy" category of killers. While I'm on the subject, all the trailers are in chronological order, not out of order so yeah, Wraith is the second killer ever added and so on. 5:25 They all move faster than survivors, all killers (except one) but yeah Hillbilly, that's this killer's name, is notorious for his speed. 5:40 You escape that by many ways, when Hillbilly uses his chainsaw he moves faster yes but at the cost of his maniability, he turns slower, have trouble with walls and sharp angles so that's how you avoid him. Also yes the Chainsaw was indeed his special ability, all killers have a basic attack but also a power they can use, Trapper can put bear traps on the ground, Wraith can turn invisible and silent and Hillbilly, runs fast as fuck with a Chainsaw. 6:50 Remember what I said about every killer moving faster than survivors except one ? That's the one, the Nurse. She moves slower than survivors but she have the ability to teleport instead, allowing her to phase through walls and shit and easily catch up to survivors of course. When you play as Nemesis, you also get two zombies that go around the map chasing the survivors or you can kill them to improve yourself, they respawn, very fun to play, bit hard tho. As for the Knight, that was a collab with For Honor from Ubisoft, don't know much about his power tho, I know he can summon those guys to help him.

I know this video was made a couple months ago but they have a "Custom Match" mode that now makes it so you can play against bots which are easy enough to beat and have fun with the game but still give you enough difficulty that if you don't keep up a match will slip away from you as killer. It doesn't grant any actual progression in terms of leveling up or gaining blood points but you really only need those if you play competitively anyway, It's a nice alternative for people like me who also just want some casual matches from time to time. You can also just play with friends or play with friends and bots at the same time in case you don't have enough people to fill a lobby.

When my mans saw the Silent Hill and the Resi trailer, it got even me hyped, and I've been playing since 2020.

Just watching this now, and yeah "Smash Brothers of Horror" is a good description. 🙂 By the way, you were wondering at the end what other licenses they could get - the latest chapter they just added a month or two ago is Alien. 😉

Further about the Left 4 Dead chapter: Yes, Bill is in the game, and then there is also the outfits of the other characters from Left 4 Dead that the original 4 survivors can wear. So while they aren't truly in the game like Bill, they kind of are as you can wear their clothes. Also, I am a Pig main myself. I love her. When they did the SAW Rift (like a battle pass as other games call it) they added her outfit from the first movie including her old trap on her head instead of the pig mask. It's such a great outfit. It's in the store now for those that didn't get it "Free" from the Rift (The way Rifts work is they cost like 1000 premium currency, but if you complete it you get the entire 1000 currency back.) I also play Legion (my favorite is Susie. Legion is actually 4 killers, which one you play depends on the skin you are wearing. Frank Morrison, Julie Kostenko, Susie Lavoie and Joey (Joey's last name has not been revealed yet.) which doesn't actually disguise themselves like the trailer suggests.

OMG first of all thank you for reacting to this. DBD has kind of been dying recently due to the lack of creativity from the developers and the community being kind of,, awful. BUT it doesn’t take away the fact that this game is super cool with a great concept and the killers and survivors deserve attention along with the lore. It’s worth your time to play! Sidenote; I have that exact same shirt, gifted to me by my partner. We’re twins… Oh also the only licensed killer that we don’t have anymore is Demogorgon from Stranger Things (Steve and Nancy, too) Everyone else’s licenses are continually renewed.
