Come along as I take my horse for a neckrope hack to the woods. It was in december, so it was quite cold, the weather had been awful and Cajou was in a real "winter mood" (you horse people know what I'm talking about). So at the beginning of the hack he was an absolute a-hole, yes, he even ran off. It was a pretty eventful hack overall, but we ended on a very positive note. I hope you enjoy this view from behind the ears :))

That's a thing non-horse-people will never understand... My mare is such a cutie and loves them cuddles. But sometimes all of a sudden she's like shizophrenic and shows her real face 👹 I always tell her "I'll take you to the slaughter today!" But I love her way to much 😂❤

@cajouandco Where i stable my horse, the instructor always tells the kids to whip the ponies if they misbehave, hope you don't mind me asking but why does your crop have a hole in the leather?
@cajouandco
@cajouandco Жыл бұрын
@@joe7965 that's how they were hung in the store😂 I don't really think it's got a purpose. Also whips shouldn't be used to punish horses. They should merely be used as a tool to make your aids clearer or while riding neckrope I hold mine up to the side to indicate where I want him to go. I think it's sad people still teach kids to just whip their horses if they don't do what we want them to do. My instructor used to tell me the same thing.

This horse looks like he is cared for so well. Besides when he ran off you can tell by his behavior, hooves, and the bond he has with the owner. If she is brave enough to use a neck rope on a hack you can tell the owner trusts him very much and so does the horse.

Thank you for taking me on such a beautiful ride on such a great pony. I don't ride anymore due to injuries. Ponies have always been my favorite. I bred and raised many a Haflinger that I rode and drove. You know, one of the things I loved the most was the ears, watching the ears, mainly seeing just the tips. This has been such an absolutely incredible way to experience riding again without actually riding. May God bless you with many more years of riding (with no injuries). I had a young draft mare fall flat on top of me due to her having snow on her feet and rushing the barn door as I opened it. She was upwards of 2000 pounds. Never, ever got hurt riding. Oh, how I miss my horses! I have a hole in my heart the size of the Grand Canyon. Have fun and stay safe and watch out for rowdy draft horses with snow on their feet. ❤😊

His periodic tests being an "asshole" are his tests to see what You do and I can see you read him well. It is interesting to watch how and when horses test their rider. Everyone one of them has a bag of tricks to try and how you navigate those tests are the fun learning how a horse thinks. Beautiful growing bond you both have. Happy trails to you both. I have “cool aunt” type advice, whether you want it or need it is debatable 😂 but here it is anyway - don’t let any comments you might get about how saying things like that is wrong, blah blah blah, influence you at all! Never apologize or adjust to accommodate others regarding who you are, the words you choose, or your very hilarious sense of humor. ❤

I don't want to spoil your fun, so if you did this on your own enclosed land that would be one thing....and I have seen people ride horses over a course with no saddle OR bridle in enclosed areas so I know how well some of them listen in ideal circumstances, but being a flight animal, I'm honestly stumped for words at how dangerous this is out in the public arena. If say.... a large untrained young dog came at your horse, you would just be a passenger, totally out of control. You may say your dog is bomb proof but there is no such thing under the right threat. I have favored soft hackamores or bites bridles, but absolutely no head contact? Uh, no. Not out in public. Ever. I have seen some terrible accidents in my time and horrific injuries by reckless ppl. It's never the horse's fault.

Stop calling him a fucking arsehole and he might stop doing it! Well done for getting him it's obvious you have worked hard to be able to do these things, so I do clap my hands for you 👏👏👏. However him being able to just tank off will end up in an accident one day- if it can happen with horses it usually does! He could be loose cantering round a corner where you haven't seen someone else out riding on a stallion, he bolts up to that you have a big problem and one horse will get seriously hurt! Also a couple of kids could be round the corner that hes loose bolting round and accidently tramples them either to death or causing serious injury. One day he just go, get the whizzes and not listen to your call at first, thats when an accident will happen!

Try lungeing first before hacking out, try adjusting food so he isn`t so energetic. I would also pull his front legs forward after fastening the girth as he is quite sturdy. Don`t you `pull the mane' rather than cut it, it looks more natural.
