The decals (see 10:21) have the code z on them after the number which as you have suggested is the other decal manufacturer in Italy. Cartograf transfers made for Revell have the code c after the number.

Great review :) I did notice with the decals the shield was very slightly off-centre so the red /yellow border wasn't even on both sides.

An interesting fact, Gary regarding the size of the nose wheel on these Horten's. They were essentially the same ones as fitted to the Heinkel He 177 'Grief'.

One reason the wing is so smooth is the skin is wood as is the main body.

Hi Gary. A neat little kit. Should be a fun build. I like the "Baron von Munchausen riding a Cannonball" decal. Apt. Early Zanchetti Buccinasco decals? (the Z as @andrewgrave mentions) They do really quite good, sharp ones nowadays. The decals they did for Italeri's CR42 Falco Aces look very nice. RLM78 late war Hellblau? Look forward to the build and seeing it next to the other Luft '46 aircraft. Cheers Matt 🦘

The tension for these "what if?" camo schemes is, do I go with something I know they used OR do I go for something made up - in which case is the camo to stop them being seen while on the ground or while they are flying? If flying then a disruptive pattern with tones of grey might be better, but on the ground anything goes!

I got the PM kit and to say it was poor is being kind. Anyway after a lot of scratch especially the landing gear and the intakes it looks ok. I ended up getting the Revell kit and intend to build it in s different colour scheme.

That is a truly horrible, but cheap kit! Mine languished, part built for a couple of months before going to paint mule duties....

@@harrypickle357 Did a full rescribing on it, rebuilt the intakes with Milliput and perfect plastic putty, scratch built an interior and landing gear, added nacelle's from a 262 donor kit, molded a proper clear canopy, all sorts! Why? Because i saw it as a challenging project. I actually used the Revell instructions as a guide. Not something I'd do all the time but every now and then i go off on one. 🤪

Well done, I did start the scratch building process, but decided to bale out after a while. Certainly an interesting subject and the Revell kit appears to do it justice

@@harrypickle357 Well i nearly did myself but bashed on. I did the same with the original Airfix Defiant and i really enjoyed doing it. I've done it with a few old kits and i always seem to enjoy it.

Too bad you got the old 1/72 kit, the newer kit of the GO229 from Revell is 1/48. The newer kit is almost the same, but has a sheme he you have to make the straps of seat

But then the Go229 can sit next to the XVIII and the Arado E.555!

The 'newer' Revell 1/48 kit is the Dragon mold from 1992 so it's a lot older. At least with the Revell boxing you have better decals.

Personally I think this plane is a very boring kit. In real life the plane looks amazing but kit form it's far too easy to put together, not much to it at all especially in the 1/72 scale. Like someone else mentioned maybe you should have got the larger version. Enjoy your weekend Gary 👍

Firstly I was sent this kit, I didn't get it myself, and secondly I like that it will sit alongside the XVIII and the E.555 nicely. Every now and again I need a kit that's easy to put together!
