So right! Our kids are already lost when Genesis is compromised. I remember being a 16 year old kid in science class - from an unbelieving family - and thinking how can any of this have happened by “accident”? If you see it, you see it. Everything screams the existence of God. I’ve never needed to doubt He is creator. It took me longer to become aware that His Son is the Way. Amen. Bo Adonai. Come Lord Yeshua.

"how can any of this have happened by “accident”? If you see it, you see it. Everything screams the existence of God." Argument from incredulity, also known as argument from personal incredulity, appeal to common sense, or the divine fallacy, is a fallacy in informal logic. It asserts that a proposition must be false because it contradicts one's personal expectations or beliefs, or is difficult to imagine.

Thanks Gentlemen for such a well presented and consistent discussion. Perhaps you have once read about "taking the battle to the gate". I found it very significant that the Gentlemen in the centre held to the notions that of the importance of recognition of the fall. The two Gentlemen to his left spoke about the importance and significance of the evidence of creation within and against the barrage of secular naturalism. The Gentlemen to his right stressed the significance of integrity of Gods truth and reasons to defend it. Collectively this was the gates defended perfectly. What a Unison of thought and revelation of where the battle is. Good Grace Chaps very enlightened.

A big reason that many young girls lose their faith in college can start with the abuse at home. Frustrated mothers and fathers can inflict great harm. If your parents never read the Word at home, it is a recipe for spiritual disaster. Teenage years have to be met with great love of the Word and warning young adults of the many wiles of the enemy. Narcissist parents that are envious of their children's success can lead them straight into the arms of false love.

So God had billions of years of death and suffering prior to Adam and Eve ... and called it "good"? What kind of god are you worshiping there, bud, because it ain't the God of Abraham. Or are you suggesting that Adam and Eve's fall caused those billions of years of death ... retroactively? Because that's as silly a claim as the first. You need to check out "Answers in Genesis", both the channel here on KZfaq as well as the website. Not only do they teach (and PROVE) that the concept of deep time is unbiblical to the extreme, but that it's also unscientific. They also emphasize the importance of getting Genesis RIGHT. P.S. Just a quick teaser: there was a lava flow in 1986 that was a secondary eruption of Mount St. Helens. Geologists observed this flow, and then ten years later did radiometric dating on the igneous rock layer left behind. The results ranged from several hundred thousand to millions of years old ... a rock layer observationally KNOWN to have been less than a decade old.

The idea that the 2nd law of thermodynamics was not applicable before the fall is pure speculation. And exactly those kinds of speculations divide us. And then he wonders why the church is divided! Del Tackett expresses his concern about using time, i.e. huge leaps of time, as an argument that "given enough time" people use THAT to explain away any need for God the Creator, chalking it up to a materialistic explanation for life. BUT that does NOT work. The probabilities are statistically absurd. But this is the false presupposition that many creationists implicitly accepted as the main challenge to God the Creator, i.e. the enemy was identified as TIME and the attack by creationists focused on that: TIIME. And many still do so.

So God, who cannot deny his own HOLY nature demands justice of punishment for the sinful human race who entirely and inclusively (with the exception of Jesus,) sins against him, has in his Sovereignty provided a way to redeem a people for himself without compromising his nature and his decrees. So God created us for His own glory. He provided a fitting sacrifice: the sinless Lamb, i.e.: Jesus, to bear our sins, die in our stead, satisfying Gods HOLINESS, and his HOLY WRATH ON SIN, and provides an avenue of restoration through, AND ONLY THROUGH, JESUS CHRIST, AND HIS SHED BLOOD FOR OUR SINS. If we try to come to God any other way, we are on a dead-end road!!! Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me!" John 14:6. Rather than dictate "WORSHIP ME!" from a distant place, he set up a world of struggle and came and struggle with us, and died in the most hideous way we could understand in a world we understand..this way, we willingly praise Him and worship Him for who He is and what He did for us, its the gesture, the show of affection and willingness to love us despite our problems which put us in conflict with Him. The problem I have with the young earth proponents (such as Answers in Genesis), is that they always start with the Word of God as being literal, and then all of their science is subservient to this interpretation. Their science is circular and not science. There is another possibility to consider. For example, the writer of Genesis 1 had an earth centric view. Everything was created around the earth, not the earth as part of a huge universe. It is possible that we are over interpreting an ancient text as a science text, whereas, the broad message is, in the beginning God created. The days are then used as literary devices in an age where people didn't read or write. However, i recognize there is a problem in this view, when we come to Genesis 3 from a theological perspective. But i decided 20 years ago, that I was not going to allow what is plainly a scientific reality to be overruled by the Bible, because to do this is to ignore a physical reality. If we could wind back the universe day by day, we would finally get back to the creation of the Universe. Did it happen in 6 days? I don't think so. Is the earth young? Having worked with a geologist for a number of years I can see that it is not. My conclusion is that we need a new interpretation of Genesis 1 -3 that is less literal, but still fundamentally true. It is better to see Genesis 1-3 as polemic against the prevailing views of poly theism, and the nature of man. I would concur with Stephen Meyer, the earth is old, but mankind is likely young, but I think evolution is fundamentally flawed (so i am not a theistic evolutionist that believed God somehow guided evolution). I think unless we are able to come to a new interpretation if Genesis 1-3 (i.e. that does not infer young earth), then we will continue to lose young people because we are not in sync with the reality of the physical universe. One of my employees is in this category. He sees a very big disconnect betweeen the reality of the physical universe and Genesis 1,2. I think it is also invalid to over interpret the idea of 'natural revelation' also. I am sure no one will read this, but just thought I would air my thoughts to myself.

Or, we can believe God who cannot lie! Faith is fundamentally epistemological. It is how we know truth. "Now faith is assurance of things hoped for, proof of things not seen. For by this, the elders obtained approval. By faith we understand that the universe has been framed by the word of God, so that what is seen has not been made out of things which are visible." (Hebrews 11:1,2) You are giving way too much credit to the epistemology of unbelief, which is "leaning on your own understanding." "When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took some of its fruit, and ate. Then she gave some to her husband with her, and he ate it, too." (Genesis 3:6) It is always Satan's strategy to say: "Has God really said..." Get people to question God's word and Christianity devolves into irrelevancy. The big bang, evolution, and old earth whatever are creation myths for fools.

No, I've seen mountains and hills. The earth is definitely contoured. Oh, and valleys. I'm sure there are bits that are flat. I've visited graveyards and graves are often flat, but not always level. Roads, modern roads, are never flat, They are crowned to allow rain to run off. Really, you are mostly wrong. The earth is probably 95% contoured.

@@billhesford6098 You are wrong. There are waves. The sea is never flat. Also the moon pulls the sea toward it. There is always a swell of water towards the moon. This is called the moving of the tides. As the moon passes overhead it draws the water closer by a few feet. this is flow. Then as the moon goes on it's way the sea returns to normal, the ebb. Thus the tide is constantly on the move around the planet. Gravity is the mechanism by which this works. The moon has one sixth the gravity of the earth. This is just enough to make the waters swell up. Gravity is also the means by which planets and moons are formed and take the shape of spheres. If an object has enough gravity it will form itself into a ball naturally. The moon being in an elliptical orbit has periods when it is closer to earth. This is when we receive the greatest effect of the moons gravity, thus the highest tides. Please don't fall for the flat earth trap as Stephen Otto warned you. You just make Christians sound as if they are dumb.

Stephen Meyer absolutely does not subscribe to the theory of evolution. He's one of its foremost critics and an outspoken proponent of the theory of intelligent design. One of its primary thinkers and advocates, in fact.

Yes, Meyer forgets that he is supposed to believe in a young earth. He constantly makes mistakes in his arguments, and refers to things that happened millions of years ago. Do you think this might be because he doesn't actually believe what he's spouting?

@@happilyeggs4627 it doesn't seem like you listened to this message since Meyer expressed an old earth, and Sproul allowed for it as well. (Not Junior Sproul). The thrust of the subject was against your idea of 'suppose to' among Christians. There's no contradiction if you allow for telescoping of geneologies, as is done elsewhere in scripture. This way Adam and Eve may have lived even 300,000 years ago. The Fall is secure. Natural Revelation matches Special Revelation.

You need to evolve as a group, to have a large enough population for viable breeding purposes. If you have any doubts on the veracity of my claim, I would point you in the direction of Gregor Johann Mendel. His research would no doubt surprise you. Chiefly because he was a Catholic monk, and an abbot of a monastery no less, who performed the early genetic experiments, in the latter half of 1800s, about 1856 and onwards Nonetheless you may be right on your first point. @@happilyeggs4627 I'm satisfied sure. So, I don't have a problem with the children of Adam and Eve, after being booted from the garden for disobedience, mixing with others. Perhaps 700,000 years or more in the past. I believe in this way we all could be descended from them. Now, as the representative of mankind, Adam proved selfish, like the rest of us since, not ready. Leaving us clothed in Cattleskins by God outside of the garden of testing. Outside the garden but not outside of hope. Somewhat similar to what William Lane Craig has recently spoken about.

Meyer would know about legal cases. He ran away from the Dover case. He was supposed to give evidence on behalf of intelligent design. He realised he would be uncovered and publicly decried as a fraud, and so, despite being listed to testify, declined. He left Behe to carry the can and be shown to be a fraud. Meyer managed to escape with his reputation untarnished, simply because he was too cowardly to face the court.

Understandable really because ID, and irreducible complexity, have constantly been embarrassed by real science. This has forced the retreat of Christianity to the realm of the circular argument. This is the best place for it. Hopefully it will an ever decreasing circularity, whereby it will eventually disappear up it's own arse.

Romans 1:20 "For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:" Romans 1:21 "Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened." Romans 1:22 "Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools," Romans 1:23 "And changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things." Romans summed this situation up very well. God bless you, and may the peace and joy of Christ Jesus be upon you every day.
