Used the cultivator plows first. A bit hard on a weak 71 yo man, but they do a good job after all the rain has softened up our garden. Looking forward to mounting and using the sweeps today. Thanks again for the video, Alan.

How do you think it would it do on Bermuda grass that I let grow back in a tilled area? I tilled it up before planting my corn but it rained so much for so long and now the grass is all grown back and about 3-4" long and thick. Just wondering how practical it would be to use for that?
@BIGALTX
@BIGALTX 3 жыл бұрын
Actually, the sweeps are the perfect tool for cutting through Bermuda grass. All the other tools, like the cultivators, would just clog up with grass, I think. The sweeps cut it off below the surface and should do a pretty good job. If you want to try them, I would appreciate it if you would use my associate link below the video. Thanks.

Awesome tools! Do they ever offer discounts or sales? Prices are a bit out of reach for us at this time.
@BIGALTX
@BIGALTX 6 жыл бұрын
Not sure if they offer discounts or not. You could always start with a Single Wheel hoe and convert it to a Double Wheel Hoe later. This is a High ARCH. It's pretty pricey. I don't really see any reason to get the High Arch. The Double or Single will do just about everything this one will do. Check out the different models and their prices HERE: bit.ly/2IeemYo

@BIGALTX
@BIGALTX 2 жыл бұрын
I would get the Double or the Single . The High Arch is limited when it comes to cultivating (and adding other attachments) You could get the Single and convert to Double down the road if you wanted to. The conversion is cheap Here's my Hoss Associate Link: bit.ly/homesteadadvisor I'd appreciate it if you could use it when ordering anything from them

Just asking: wouldn’t a Troy Bilt tiller set at a cultivating depth do the same thing?
@BIGALTX
@BIGALTX 3 жыл бұрын
Sure, but sometimes they can get away with you and you wind up running through your veggies. Trust me... I used to have a TB Horse. With this, first of all there's no noise or gasoline. And, you can get closer to the plants because you set the pace, not the machine. I like it better than a tiller... but some may not.

@BIGALTX
@BIGALTX 3 жыл бұрын
I like the winged sweeps. If there are a lot of weeds they work well. Easy to push through the ground. Also the Oscillating Hoes work well, but maybe not as good as the sweeps if the weeds are heavy. Here's my HOSS TOOLS Associate link: bit.ly/homesteadadvisor Thanks, alan

How it works on hard soil?
@BIGALTX
@BIGALTX 5 жыл бұрын
It would be a little harder. Like any cultivator, the pliability of the soil has a lot to do with ease of operation. My soil was hard red clay, but I transformed it into what it is now by doing this: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rKiqpdunu6-dn2Q.html

It's amazing. So easy to keep a garden weed free. I know you won't be disappointed. I like the sweeps best, but the Stirrup Hoe does well in tough weeds too. I would suggest the Single or the Double Wheel Hoe, not the High Arch. Here's my Link to Hoss Tools: bit.ly/homesteadadvisor

@BIGALTX

Nope. What you are seeing is the remnants of mulch. A few years ago, I put down a thick layer of wood chips to change my hard clay soil into this nice dark rich soil that I have here. Still got a few pieces of bark and sticks and such. But no rocks… Or at least not very many.

You're mistaken. It's not the first time I've used it. As I said in the video... "I've enjoyed it using it so much, that I had to force myself to leave some weeds so I could make this video"... Hence... I've used it successfully before. Even if I hadn't, it's pretty simple. Not brain surgery.

I bought the single wheel with cultivator attachment a little while back. I love the workmanship of the tool and will be branching out to get the sweeps. The important thing to know with this tool is that you have to be proactive and can't wait until the weeds have taken deep root to use it. I run it up and down my walking rows a couple times a week and it works great. Thanks for the video TexasPrepper2.
