I had one for about eight years, works well. Do not regret buying. I put LinSeed oil on the wood handles. I also use linseed oil on the metal edges to prevent rust. (He does not have the handles adjusted properly for his height.)

We love all our hoss tool plows. The high arch wheel hoe is my favorite. To plow with. Our seeder is amazing. We can plant in half the time.

Do the plows throw enough dirt when hilling? I've been looking at this hoe and the one from valley oak. The valley oak hiller seems to move more dirt for hilling.

I have three of them set for different jobs. I really like the single wheel setup with one hoe for hilling potatoes and side dressing fertilizer on corn 😊

You've probably figured it out by now, but you can add a "spreader bar (or two)" and widen your footprint considerably, allowing you to run many more cultivator teeth without them loading up with soil (especially when the soil is damp) from being too close together.

I love mine and wk it to the max, but the small screws on top cross bar came off due to usage, but longer screws with glue did the trick and also sprayed with wood sealer to protect it

That's a good idea! I did notice the same thing happening with ours. They haven't come out but I think I'll do the same with ours to make sure it doesn't happen!

Just like cars, used ones can be bought for less than new ones! Plenty of the used "Planet Jr" cultivators (try "wheel hoe" also in searches online) that can be bought for a fraction of new. Found one locally and bought the handles thru the Hoss company.

We inherited an antique double wheel Planet Jr. with the purchase of our house over 10 years ago. I really like the fact that the Hoss attachments will fit the old Planet Jr. wheel hoes as well - bought the 8" Hoss oscillating hoe and put it on the Planet Jr., and it works great! It's a beast on tough weeds. (No affiliation with Hoss, just a happy customer.)

I don’t know about Hoss tools actual tools but I’m definitely a fan of their seeds my Tiger collards made me feel like a boss in the greens game

I have better germination from their seeds and the shipping is faster than any other seed co. Tools are all high quality and durable. I like to abuse tools, and theirs have stood up well. Only my sweeps have bent, but they just released better sweeps, so... yeah.

So just watching this, in Late October 2020... you need to lower you handles. I now own two Hoss Wheel Hoes (like you not sponsored... paying with hard earned money), would buy them again, and may in fact buy a 3rd... I have a LARGE garden... and would prefer to leave a couple of them set up, and not have to spend time swapping implements. But seriously... lower your handles, at least when using the 12 weed blade. Good tools, and decent men at that company as far as I can tell from a ways off. Happy to spend money on American made tools that are obviously made with pride!

Naked Hog I order flower seeds from them two type of sun flowers and a northeast mix. Trying to entice bees to the garden.

That’s a good deal! Honestly it’s a different use, at least at far as what we use our tiller for. We don’t use the hoss double wheeled hoe as a tiller.

Honestly it’s great! It’s held up really really well. The thing is super sturdy. And I abuse mine. I’ll probably get the high arch hoe this fall.

I don’t have any personal experience with valley oak. I have looked at them and seems to be a little less versatile. Not sure about durability, etc. I should get one to compare.

Just use weed barrier plastic weave good for years , free up time is important

Weed barrier limits a lot of what can be done. Here where we live we get a good bit of rain. And I have to be able to till between rows when needed to help dry out the soil and get air worked back in. It also prevents you from hilling certain crops that need to be hilled for the healthiest most productive plants.
