The SNES was capable of so much.

it actually wasn't, it took a long time to make the music because the chip didn't have enough space to to hold a lot of things

@Joey Ford Lad, the snes wasn't really capable of much because of the memory per game which is why snes games had few soundtacks. Rare had pushed the system to the limits to create dkc. The music for Aquatic Ambience took weeks to complete since David Wise had to do it manually and blend the sounds to make the illusion of long notes. I never said that old music from the snes wasn't good I like it's music and I respect the developers for creating such a masterpiece.

@PickledKong64 It is capable but not much since it had it's restrictions but that makes games like dkc more impressive since it was memberable. Btw i don't know what you mean by what am i listening to so I'll just say Study Me by Zutomayo. :]

There is no snes sound chip it uses midi with soundfonts. The games have the soundfonts in them, and the midi synth plays it. Its more like quicktime, really.

@@marcusbullock630 The SNES does use audio samples but it has nothing to do with soundfonts. On the contrary, people often create soundfonts from samples that were used in SNES games.

it's a volcano level, that's why you have to put the lava sound
@naoaquieopatrickpatrick85652 жыл бұрын
@@marcosjulio9337 Not really, If anyone else but David Wise made the soundtrack, they wouldnt even care about adding background sounds to enhance their music and the atmosphere of the level, It Just sounds unnecessary, complicated and people wouldnt even miss a sound effect in the background since nobody used to do that in the 90s. Since Its David Wise However, he went hard on the soundtrack and decided to add those extra noises for imersion, and that's one of the best aspects about his work as a composer, the extra effort to use SFX as part of the level's music to create imersion is just creative and set his work apart from other videogame composers easily, especially during the 90s.

It's kinda common for N64 games to have sounds similar to that of the SNES. Typically it could be because the N64 has sounds running off the CPU whereas the SNES has its own sound chip, although the N64 is capable of handling higher quality audio... somewhat. I'm a nerd, I know. xP
