I met Jimmy and saw this car in the metal, beautiful hot rod and proper traditional, the Arden flathead makes it a cut above, he was real polite and a true craftsman, old school. Streetrods are glorified kit cars, they have their place but real hot rods back in the day looked nothing really like either of these cars to be honest, it was all about speed, a paint job was secondary.

I really hate to say this, because Barry's shop really does turn out works of art, but I would MUCH rather have an all steel roadster as opposed to a fiberglass car that feels cheap and flimsy. I understand the reasoning behind starting with a fiberglass body for timing purposes, but I would just much rather purchase an entire all steel body.

Jimmy said it best, "Poor guys built hot rods and these days it's all about who can spend more money." I have a custom Plymouth; nothing special but it's one of a kind and gets lots of action at car shows. The price of old Mopar parts is Stupid High for no good reason and this might be the last classic car I own just for that reason. They used to just be old cars; Jay Leno says, "You can put $50K in an old Mustang and have a tough time selling it for $35K." He isn't kidding.

People love Corvettes but complain about fiberglass if it's on any other car. I don't get it. Fiberglass is great. It's better if you ask me. It doesn't dent or rust. There are different ways to do fiberglass and some ways do produce a heavy, brittle part. Like chopper gun glass, but you can do some really nice glass work doing wet layups or vacuum bagged glass. Really strong and light weight. Prepreg glass in an autoclave can be really nice. Vacuum infusion or resin injection produces really nice parts.

@@javiervidaurre6325 Having built and restored several cars over the last 30 years, I'd prefer fiberglass or carbon fiber. It lasts longer than steel and it doesn't dent like steel or aluminum. The biggest problem with restoring old cars is the rust.

Quite honestly, it seems like Jimmy was always having leaks and problems. Then he didn't want to fix them because he didn't feel that he "had enough time"...but he just said earlier that he takes a great deal of pride in how he builds the cars. They rigged seemingly everything just enough to hope that it held up for the show. Then he wins and it is so ironic and yet messed up at the same time because he used half effort for everything.
