I'm so envious of your peaches. Grew up next to a peach orchard and the gentleman farmer would leave a small basket of peaches early in the morning during the season for my breakfast. He also taught me to drive on his Farm All tractor and allowed me to roam free on his wooded acreage. He was very kind to a child that wasn't his responsibility. Now Mr. Tenny is part of my best memories.

I loved listening to your stories especially the one about the window screens. Matt used his screen to go to the creek to pan for gold. Katy took her screen out so that she could throw stuff out and then shoot. When Matt said that she must take after your side of the family and you responded, I don't remember sifting for gold with any screens - I laughed out loud. You're a beautiful couple.

Made it to the end of the video and I loved the "stick with what you know" comment. My late husband would have said the same thing. Made me laugh. Thanks for sharing that.

I grew up in Alabama and didn’t have air conditioning until I was 12 years old. We got a window unit and that first summer me, my sister and brother slept on pallets on the floor. We thought it was amazing. Before that it was screened windows and doors and big metal Electrolux fans at the foot of the bed. Our car had no A/C and we drove with the windows down, hanging our heads out the windows like dogs! Good memories when we were all a little tougher and adaptive than folks are now. Prayers for your sweet mama.

When I was in high school we moved into our third house on Hwy. 601. Boy was it hot in the summertime! This house had an attic fan. You are correct, they are loud, but we got used to it and opened our windows and the breeze kept us cool enough to sleep. A few years later, Daddy bought a window air conditioner that cooled the kitchen and the bedrooms. That was very nice, too. Before that in our previous house, I still remember how some nights it was difficult to sleep for the heat. I'm with Matt. The cold is easier to take, but the Lord won't give us anything we can't handle.

Hi! I just harvested a bunch of carrots I had planted in a grow bag on my back deck! I have a ton of yellow cherry tomatoes and I've spotted a Cherokee purple growing, I've had about half dozen of Cucumbers so far, potatoes will be ready to harvest in a week or so, strawberries are still producing, 2 little sugar baby water melons are on the vine...not bad for planting in bags on a deck 😊 we were under heat advisories 28th and 29th 97 degrees on thermometer however with humidity feel of 106-110😢 back in the 80s now. Still praying for granny❤

I remember as a kid sleeping on a bed as close to the window as i could get, lying there sweating and how delicious it was to get a breeze across me. 😊 We were living in west central kansas and 100° was common in the summer. My folks got a portable water cooler we could set on a chair! I had to take turns with my sister! 😊 It would spit water ever so often! What a treat that was back then. 60 years ago and more. 😅😅😊 God bless all here.

It would be so hot during wheat harvest, but I would take my water jug and pour the water over my shirt and jeans to try to cool off. And when it dried out, I would do it again. Granny and pawpaw did not have air-conditioning but they had a water cooler in the window. I tried to sit close to that window to feel the cool air. Growing up, we had an attic fan that we would only turn on when it was time to go to bed. You would be frozen by the next morning because of all the cool air, it would draw in at night 😊

My dad put in an attic fan in our house also when I was a teenager. I can relate to the sound of it and the suction of it. We opened a window at one end of the house, and at the other end of the house that would draw from both ends. I don’t know that it ever helped, lol. Our first duty assignment in the Air Force after we were married was Williams AFB, Mesa, AZ. We lived in a little one bedroom house with a swamp cooler on the roof. They have massive sand storms out there and when I turned on that swamp cooler for the first time... sand went all over my house. I coughed and sputtered sand and ran outside. Hubby ran back in and cut it off. I had the big whole house attic fans growing up here in NC but never had a swamp cooler so had no idea you had to clean them before turning them on. That was a big lesson. I never did get all the sand out of our sofa. Didn't get rid of the sand till we sold the sofa years later. And then two years later, Mt St. Helen's out of Washington State erupted while our furniture was being moved to North Dakota and ash got all over my new sofa. They opened up the back of the moving van at my house on Minot AFB, ND and ash spewed out the back. Everything I had was covered in Mt. St. Helen. It was even inside sealed Mason jars. Never saw anything like it. So we had that ash in our sofa until it was sold years later. What an ordeal.

That’s great you got so many beans. We’ve always raised Rattlesnake pole beans, even my grandparents. We love them. I don’t know why they’re called that, either. That peach cake sounds great! My favorite ice cream is peach. My Mama said they used to rehydrate dried apricots, lay them over the bottom of a pie crust, then pour egg custard pie filling over that and bake it. I think that would be good with peaches, too.

Hello matt and Tipper, looks like the Lord blessed y'all with a good harvest. Even though some vegetables dont do good as others, at times. My experience with gardening its not always 100% productive. I think the rattlesnake bean are my favorite they do seem to be bug resistant, yeah im done with marigolds too. They didn't deter bugs on my vegetables either. I just harvested all my summer crop a few weeks ago. Just planted my fall garden.planted more rattlesnakes beans, ms. plnkeye peas. And squash zucchini. I remember growing up without an air conditioner too, slept with the window open. Thank God for the A/C but I think it has made us soft. Always enjoy watching.Stay cool, and Happy gardening God bless.😅

I too grew up in the South without Air Conditioning. I was born in 1947 in Atlanta and we lived with my Mother's parents in a house that was built sometime before 1910. That house didn't even have an indoor bathroom IN THE CITY until I was five years old! It did have high ceilings and floor to ceiling windows that were double hung so hot air could go out at the top and maybe at night cool air would come in at the bottom. It was normal to move the beds close to the windows in summer and away from them in winter. When I was ten my parents bought their first house at what was then a more rural area close to the air port where my dad worked as a Telephone Man. We had one of those attic exhaust fans, but no AC until I was in the last year or two of high school, and then just a couple of window units.. None of my city schools were air conditioned, and even the college I went to in the city in the late 1960's had most of the classes and labs in rooms without Air Conditioning. I did not think much about it since that was all I knew. However, after I graduated I enlisted in the Air Force in 1971 and after basic training in Texas, in the summer, my first assignment was for a Vietnam tour. Once over there most of the guys were complaining about the Heat, the Humidity, the bugs, and the Red mud. To me it was very much like home! i am now 76 years old and sure would hate to do without it now. I love to watch your channel and especially the Popsicle Talks with you and your husband, Matt, It makes me think of sitting with my parents and grandparents on the wide front porch on a hot evening listing to them talk about the days events. You are blessed with a beautiful family and life, thanks for sharing it with us all.

Outhere in the foothills of Appalachia my favorite time of the year is fall. It cools off and the colors start to explode before the country goes to bed for the winter. I'd never had a favorite season until I moved here. It's just gorgeous. We have two huge flowering Bartlett pear trees that are the last to lose their leaves and they are the most brilliant red, they scream color!!

Ever since the creek behind the house dried up I've missed the sound of a bull frog at night! Even when we get enough rain to put water in the creek the frogs are gone.😐

The older you get the less you can tolerate the heat. I know that's true for me & my husband. We're in our middle 70's & are finding its getting worse. My husband can hardly breathe between the heat & the Canadian smoke. And we have no health issues. Plus each year it's getting hotter & hotter. I did the same thing as a child. Open the windows & turn on the fans. We survived. 😂😂

Like Matt, as I kid I heard bobwhite quail here in south Georgia all the time. Over time, that call became silent. But, my husband and I recently bought property in the mountains of eastern Tennessee. There, we are surrounded by farms and mountains. We spent most of this summer there. Excitingly I heard the calls of bobwhites on two different occasions. I even saw a pair fly up from a recently mowed hay field. I was surprised and amazed! I was so happy to hear and see them again.

Another nice visit! We have a cold wave here in NJ . Low humidity, so the wife and I are off to Lancaster, Pa til Saturday.just 2 hrs. Away. We already gave the neighbors some tomatoes and I just canned 9 jars of Uncle Bob’s bread and butter pickles. Everyone loves my pickles and I will have to can many more before fall. Your bean harvest is amazing. We just enjoy eating our green beans. This gardening is a lot of work. But at 78 it is keeping me feeling young!! Lol!

I just love the videos you both do together, as each of you are so sincere. You tease each other in a good way as you enjoy your popsicles! Those green beans and tomatoes are absolutely beautiful! They will be really nice looking when you can them, too. I’m sure you both stayed inside once you went into the house with a.c. as hot as it is outside! Don’t work too hard!

You said "if there was a lake here to jump in" btngs to mind an old saying I ran into a long time back in response to any "I wish" proposition. It is a Scottish proverb from 1628 and goes "If wishes were horses, beggars would ride". A corolary might be "Watch out what you wish for. It might come true." This is only an observation as I know you're Daddy taught you wisely to appreciate what God blesses you with and be content with what you've worked for yourself. We all would have a much better country to live in if way more people lived by this principle, as a true Christian would.

We've been under a heat dome for several weeks now here in Texas. Waiting for it to lift or move somewhere else. When people fall on the pavement or concrete they are getting burns because the asphalt/concrete is so terribly hot right now. I've contacted the popsicle company several times about sponsoring y'all but they never get back to me. I've even sent them links to your videos. Praying so hard for Granny these days now. Praying for a healing miracle! Hugs!

I have had a container garden this year that has done fairly well. Im learning I probably should feed the contained more often. I planted a second crop of zuccini, squash, cucumbers and green beans. Still waiting for my butter beans to fill out. The chocolate sprinkles tomatoes are still producing pretty well but I think the better boys are about finished. Trying to start a late season crop of an early determinate tomato called Early Wonder and one called Stiletz. I have okra planted but it just doesn’t want to grow. This is the second attempt to get okra to grow and it is soooooo slow growing. But my most exciting thing is the butternut squash that has volunteered in the back yard has 4 little squash on it so far. Have no idea where the plant came from but it is starting to show out! Thank you and your family so much for encouraging us to try gardening and giving your experiences and sharing your knowledge. You certainly encouraged me to give it a try. I started small but already know what I want to grow over the fall and then next spring/summer.

We used to have plenty of bobwhite, grouse and quail in my area of WV. Somewhere between boyhood and manhood they just disappeared. We would occasionally see a pheasant but they are gone now too. I love watching your videos. Thank you for efforts.

You were smart Tipper, I’m still scared to leave my window open at night but what I do is I lower the sash from the top. I love the cool night air in the summertime! It’s so much better than ac. We didn’t have ac when I was little either, we had metal fans too. Mom put it inside the screen door to pull the air through but I remember some very hot summer days in the 60’s.Just like Matt I cannot stand summer heat, I only make it through by thinking of fall-it is my favorite season! The shadows cast long, the colors are beautiful-rust, gold, etc., the sky is so blue and the air crisp. I love just thinking about fall. We will make it!

I grew up the same way yall did. We didnt have A/C all we had was those box fans and then later we had some window fans. If you had A/C around here you were considered upity high class. Those were the good old days I remember seeing a momma quail with her little ones in the summer and hearing the quail calling out in the fields.
