This movie is why I think this trilogy felt more appropriate for television.

For anyone trashing Mat for giving it the Seal of Garbage, notice that he did not slam Sony at all. He only criticized the movie. This is a good indicator that he’s keeping to his word and being less harsh on the company.

I liked this review's ending. It showcased that while Mat doesn't like these films, he still respects that other people do.

Honestly I don't know why Hotel Transylvanian was made into a trilogy, like it one of those movies that should have not have gotten a sequel, especially when the stories in these movie aren't cinema worthy.

Do you know what I just noticed regarding Sony Animation's movies recently. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 rehashed the story from the first Cloudy movie. (A mentally challenged, amateur scientist who created this machine that turns water into food. And then, the machine suddenly goes haywire, creating different sort of good audities. So its up to him and his friends to go and stop the machine. While at the same time, there was a villain whose trying to persuade the protagonist to let the machine to continue its course) Surfs Up 2: Wavemania rehashed the plot from the first Surf's Up. (Cody Maverick had to go through many different obstacles, both physically and emotionally, in order to become a renowned surfer with the mentorship of its idol) The Emoji Movie stole the plots of both Hotel Transylvania 2 and Smurfs: The Lost Village, along with other non- Sony movies like Wreck-it Ralph and Inside Out. (You have this world where everbody only has this one character trait or emotion, while the main character is more of an outcast because it's not quite sure it knows its own identity. So with the help of its friends, it's now on a mission to go to forbidden lands unlike they've ever seen to end with a preachy message of being yourself or don't put a label on you of being one thing) Hotel Transylvania 3 rehashed the plot from the first Hotel Transylvania movie. Copying the plot from movie made from a another studio is one thing, but copying the plot from another that from your own studio, let alone your own series.......That's just wrong.

Remember when Mat gave Depesicable Me 3 an 8? lol I kid./ I will admit that as much as i like the movies, including this one, they do have problems and i hope they quit while they're ahead. I actually thought the story was a bit more interesting this time around, but I agree that the characters are getting to be a bit too many, and it's weird how Wolfman got a subplot while no one else really does. Still, i enjoy it fine. If nothing else, its nice that Gendy got more control this time.Here's hoping Spider-Verse is as amazing as it looks.

Calling Johnny ‘cartoon Logan Paul’ does make sense seeing how in the first film he dressed up as Frankenstein, which is like the equivalent of ‘cultural appropriation’ or ‘black face’ in this film universe.

It's a real shame these movies are so incredibly lackluster and bland because the idea itself is something I'm very interested in. I love classic monsters, supernatural things and animation, but it's handled so badly I don't even want to watch it myself.

I saw that seal of garbage coming from a mile. I honestly didn’t expect much from this movie due to being the third movie in the franchise, and I’m at least not absolutely dreading it like a certain other animated movie releasing this summer that I shall not name... Also, blind bias? C’mon, Matty...the reason many peeps hate the shows you mentioned is because they’re nothing but lazy and mediocre cashgrabs meant to milk the franchise with no substance or intelligence to their writing whatsoever and have unfunny jokes that rely on low-brow and memey humor meant to appeal to an audience 12 and under. The same exact thing that you criticize this movie for. You’d know that if you, y’know...actually watched them. Well, with Thundercats Roar it’s not even out yet, and I can agree that the hate for these shows can be blown out of proportion...but given CN’s previous track record, you’d have to be the biggest optimist in existence to give them the benefit of the doubt when it comes to Roar. And as Silver said in Sonic Forces: “I’m an optimist, but also a realist.”

I love the animation on these films! The textures look great, its bright and colorful, its energetic, and it has depth to it.

If you thought this review was controversial, then wait until what he has to review in 2 or 3 weeks. :P

The only Hotel Transylvania movie I can agree with Animat. The animation is disgusting and unwatchable, the writing is so horribly made, the characters are one dimensional versions or irritating versions of their original counterparts, the jokes are so unfunny that I can barely noticed that they're jokes, the soundtrack and pop songs are trash, the list goes on.

I quite enjoyed this movie. Loved the steampunk elements used for Abraham Van Helsing’s current body, as well as his weaponry.

The most fun this movie offers us is quite possibly an Animat Review. I still get a kick out of him talking about the animation. Especially here where he compared it to the low end modern CN shows. I agree that Gendy Tartalovski was better at animating Samurai Jack than the Hotel Transylvania trilogy, but I don't think the animation is THAT bad. My opinion. I know.

Give him that guys, Animat might have the sarcastic thone and stuff, but as serious and structured as his reviews are, he is still allowed to have an opinion. This is not unfair, he doesn't like the movie and he gives solid arguments. Besides, he didn't get super whinny like in previous reviews, he is more self-controlled.

What I've notice (as a fan of the hotel Transylvania fan) I only really enjoy the character designs and monster puns. That's all I watch it for, and the cute animations during the credits.

Personally, I thought the characters that were the most pointless in this movie that felt completely wasted were the Werewolves and Vlad. The werewolves is especially the one that hurts the most considering how much of a supportive character Wayne was in the other 2 films, as well as being of the funniest characters in the franchise. To see him downgraded to a really minor character with a subplot of him and his wife breaking free from their wild kids that only appears like once or twice in this movie was just disappointing. What hurts more is that at one point in the movie, Wayne and his wife accidentally discover the Ericka and Van Helsing’s secret plan, they get tranquilized and stuck in a closet for the rest of the film till the end when the monsters return to the hotel. And it’s really baffling how the other characters don’t even notice their absence despite their interactions in the last films showing how close friends they are. You’d think their absence would have made Dracula and his friends worried and become suspicious of the entire cruise trip. But nope, they don’t even seem to care. Almost like Wayne and Wanda don’t exist. 🤦‍♂️ And it looks like this one didn’t really learn from the last film because once again Mel Brooks, one of the most talented actors in this cast and the most funniest, is once again barely in the film. It makes you wonder why even have Mel Brooks in the movie if you’re going to have him voice a character that doesn’t appear much in the movie other than for a recurring gag of him in a speedo attracting old witches. You might as well not use him in the movie and cast someone else in that role.

I'm on the positive side of Hotel Transylvania Movies. But yeah I have low expectations for this movie. I honestly rather watch this over Despicable Me 3.

While I do like and had fun the two Hotel Transylvania movies, I am a bit under a concerned impression for the third movie's plot (that it may be just a bit of a retelling from the first movie). It sounds like there could be some shades of familiarity from the first.

I thought the 1st Hotel Transylvania was alright (since I found out the director was Genndy Tartakovsky). But in all honesty, instead of this he could’ve made a 2D animated Samurai Jack movie (a.k.a what season 5 should’ve been)
