This was good, short, informative, you explained it really well, and I like the dark theme of the video.

Now that I have given the different productive and legacy patterns a bit more though, I think different apparent stems of "ХОТЕТЬ" (хоч/хот) have their weird logic. First, as it is easy to see, "хотеть" combines both Е- and И-conjugation. Second, usually consonant mutation happens only in the 1st person singular for И-conjugation (люблю, любишь, любят...)-but for Е-conjugation it happens everywhere! So, in a sense, "хотеть" is a textbook example of a verb with an irregular endings, but its consonat mutation is pretty regular. Of course, as soon as we take for a fact that the verb is free to follow different conjugations in different forms.

Halfgild Wynac I'd never thought of it this way - maybe because in teaching I haven't talked much about mutations when I introduce this verb? But it's a good point, I see what you mean. Interestingly, you may occasionally hear the non-standard/incorrect form они хочут, with an e-conjugation ending.. and then it does have that т > ч change that you'd expect for all forms of an e-conjugation verb.
