I am learning to lay concrete block by building the stem walls for the porches and sidewalks on our Legacy Block ICF House. I am also learning that Ignorance is not bliss... #concreteconstruction , #concreteblock , #icf

Tony, i've learned that no matter what job or task you do on camera that there is always an expert that watches and gives their expert "advice". I learned just enough in masonry class in high school to be dangerous lol. It looks good to me! I used to watch pro masons on jobsites use mortar that was soupy wet and somehow they made it stick and look perfect. i will say your corners look great. You deserve a cold one after all that. Just make sure it isn't a Bud Light lol.

There's always an expert willing to comment. I don't mind if they really are and are helpful. I can look at my work and determine if it's screwed up on my own. You'll see how wet the mortar is in the next video. I've discovered there's a reason masons make the money they do. This is hard, skilled labor! I like welding a LOT better!

@@ozarksethic Same here if it's really helpful. Its a good skill to learn, but like yourself I prefer other jobs more.

@@PineyWoodsHomestead I figure it will be useful again but I don't want to use it... I've done rock work before and it is less aggravating. There were several cold ones consumed during the making of this video! No, not Butt Light. I've never liked Bud or Bud Light, even when they were free when I worked in the bar business.

@@ozarksethic haha me neither. As for masonry I tend to leave it alone if at all possible!

Looks good to me, Tony. I've never done masonry, I'm impressed with your effort and results. I've seen cinder blocks laid using preset string line to align the blocks for level and outside edge. I'm sure you saw that in the YT videos, too.

Thanks, Rick. I'm using string between corners once they're set. It may not be clearly visible the way I edited this video. It will be more obvious and appear that my skills are improving in the next one!

@@ozarksethic I thought that'd be the case. Looking forward to seeing pt. 2!
