Hi, by any chance do you know if the carburetor held up well? If not, what part gave out?
@ozarksethicАй бұрын
It's still working fine. I run the generator under load every few months and no problems so far. The two best things I've found for the fuel system on small engines is NO ETHANOL FUEL and drain/run the carburetor dry before storing. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

That column isn’t so Bigg. How much weight are planning on using it 2 support??
@ozarksethic2 ай бұрын
It actually supports the second floor of the house. There is another video in the series where we're welding in the i-beams. I was dubious but the engineers said it would be sufficient. Since it's in compression and the other end of the beams are attached to concrete columns I wasn't too concerned. Plus, the base is about 30 inches below the finished first floor so it's backfilled and compacted with the first floor slab poured around it and the column was filled with rebar and concrete when we poured the second floor.

Working on my Long 2360 today replaced the fuel filters and pumped up the first filter but when I was trying to pump fuel into the top filter the hand pump went slack and wouldn't pump anything up to it.. Do I have a bad hand fuel pump?
@ozarksethic2 ай бұрын
It sounds like it. I had to replace mine due to the same thing. The diaphragm goes bad. They're pretty cheap on Amazon or one of the tractor parts places that sell Long parts. Make sure to get a supply of crush washers. The banjo fittings almost always leak if you don't replace the washers. I have used a flat surface and sandpaper to flatten old ones again to get going when I didn't have new ones but that usually isn't a permanent fix. Thanks for watching!

I bought and constructed the 10x10 size and when it came to screwing in the anchors, I could not get them to drill into the hard, clay ground here in TN more than 3 or 4 inches. So, I got the idea to use rebar, and I bought four 3/8 x 48 inch rebar and bent a hook with about 12 inches at one end and pounded them into the ground over the corner legs. It's only been up for about a week, so time will tell. But just looking at it, I'm pretty hopeful that it will stay anchored.

I did the same thing with one of ours plus the sandbags. So far it has stayed put. Ours are all showing their age since I got them for "temporary" storage and haven't been treating them with UV protection. Unfortunately, our house build has taken WAY longer than anticipated so the temporary has been 2 years... Other than weather damage they have held up pretty well.

I was trying to find an edge but also separate layers. The limestone around here frequently has a clay layer between layers of stone and the shock from the hammer gets absorbed so I try to get one layer at a time. Thanks for watching!

Good information. I would suggest changing the front and rear differential oil every year, REGARDLESS. In the Honda 500/520 machines it takes little over a half a quart to change both differential oils. I recommend 75 W 90 Synthetic gear oil. Wal-Mart has it for $15.50 a quart. (Cheap insurance, and it’s not going to break the bank)

@chriswest83767 ай бұрын
Thanks but I sincerely wished I had looked a little further than this video before replacing the starter on my 855D. On that model, there is no need to remove the cover from the reeves drive and of course there is no cooling system cross over to worry about. Still a ridiculously tight installation but the bolts for the starter can be reached without removing that large plastic cover. Instead, on my model, the skid pans underneath can be removed to get access to the starter bolts. Fully agree, JD did a very poor job of designing the bed hinge and access in general. There should be a means to lift the bed to a 90 degree angle so normal humans with shoulders wider than a teenage ballerina can access the area. It wouldn't be hard to modify the bed hinge with two pivot points instead of one to allow the bed to tilt to 90 degrees. Most irritating however is the cost of a new starter. In my case, the only issue was the bendix drive on the front of the starter but of course JD doesn't sell parts to rebuild a starter. $520!!! for a new starter.

I've been watching a lot of these car port videos. amazing. But I thought of an inexpensive idea for my situation to prevent me from spending so much on one. that one should be 150 and the 10 x 10 could be 125. Anyway I plan on just buying tarp at harbor freight to wrap around this cheap GAZEBO tent that I don't even use. I already have water proof spray but Im going to zip tie tarp over it anyway. I think my idea is good but I just have to execute. My gazebo I paid like 60, I just need a small space anyway. It's not to big but I'm going to see how it turns out and maybe upload footage of it.

Great video. Other than the help with the architecture, was there any other reasons you went with the legacy block over more traditional ICF blocks? Is legacy as strong as fox, nudura, etc? After a quick lool at the legacy block, it appears like traditional icf would offer longer unbroken spans of concrete.
@ozarksethic8 ай бұрын
There were several additional reasons we chose Legacy Block. First, we were able to get a termite contract to satisfy the mortgage requirement unlike with traditional ICF. Second is that they use 1/3 the concrete of traditional ICF while offering excellent strength at a significant cost savings. You save on additional expense for bracing/forms for filling because they are self-supporting. They have a 5 hour fire rating without exterior or interior cladding. They are tested to resist Category 5 Hurricane winds (157+ MPH) and are earthquake tested up to Magnitude 8 with no structural damage. If you're concerned about recycling, they are made with recycled styrofoam content. We looked at several different systems before deciding on Legacy Block. One option we seriously considered was a sandwich wall system with the insulation in the center and solid walls on the inside and outside. We were in the middle of Covid when we had to make a decision so availability of product plus overall cost drove our decision. With the crazy increase in the cost of materials overall, the savings in concrete expense has been beneficial to keeping costs down overall. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
@joshuabeemer40628 ай бұрын
@ozarksethic thanks for the reply. Your title would suggest that you're down in Missouri somewhere. If so, I'm actually a Missouri boy myself, haha. In any case, do you think legacy block makes a wall that's just as strong and energy efficient as the other more "traditional" block? I very much like how bracing isn't really required with the legacy block but on its face it seems that the more traditional block would offer more thermal mass at the expense of having to use more concrete, as well as bracing and more concerns with blow-outs." Very much enjoying your video series, I retired from the military this year and we're looking to owner build our family's "forever home." Take care!
