It was torn apart. You can see the house being ground apart by the river bed like a block of cheese against a cheese grader in the video based on the 2nd floor windows. They go from 10 ft above the water level to below water level by videos end.

It was National Park housing for employees. The house was built over 500 feet or more from the river bank. This will demonstrate the massive increase in water levels. This is not the worst of it. Thousands of miles of roads destroyed and thousands of residential and farm land still in for up to another 72 hours of the rise. This is NOT A JOKE, I live in this area. It means lack of resources and a halt to jobs. Where's our fine leader to speak?

This is happening all along the Yellowstone River and other rivers and streams, north of the Park. About a month's worth of rain fell in a couple of days and sent the Madison River and Yellowstone River over their banks . Red Rock Creek flooded Red Lodge, carrying as much water as the Madison River in a channel that was once only 15 feet across. All of the streams north of the Continental Divide in the Idaho, Montana and Wyoming mountains have flooded and thousands of ranches, farms and communities have been damaged.

It also happened in Utah in May 1983 and in other places west of the Rockies that late winter and spring. Lots of big storms left heavy snow pack in the mountains followed by a very warm May and rapid melting. I-15 was under water in southern Utah and volunteers spent days sandbagging in SLC and other cities and towns. Many houses near creeks and rivers ended up floating away like the one in the video. I'm not from SLC but I was there on Memorial Day weekend of '83.

Not a house, as in a single-family residence. It’s employee housing from the park.

That situation seems to indicate the people in that house had ample to get their belongings and themselves out of the house and to a safe place. That was not a flash flood, that was progressive erosion which gave them enough time to evacuate.

I know, right. For 6,000 years of documented human history we've known not to build near bodies of water. The land floods and banks erode. Yet over the last 100 years intellect has dropped to single digit figures. Another example of why you should home school kids.

Don't worry about the house it's a houseboat now they can live on the water but you might have a pool in your living room so you can go skinny dipping in the privacy of your own home

So… don’t build your house on the edge of a dry river bed. Because “dry river bed” means it’s a river when it rains.
