HBO Hit Series House of the Dragon returns for season 2. The new season of HOTD features a brand new opening title sequence in the style of a grand tapestry. Like any tapestry this one depicts the epic story of House Targaryen. In this video I breakdown what is featured on the tapestry, and how it relates to the events of the Dance of the Dragons.

Just watched another video which explains the first images after Valaryia as the creation of dragons, firey wings, human head, blood sacrifice

I think its showing the blood magic binding dragon/humans, then its Azor Aha stabing Nissa Nissa with her chest bare, then Daenys the dreamer& Aenar fleeing valaria, then the doom is showed in two patterns showing explosions and then all the dead, then the conquerors taking Weateros field of fire, then margor dead on throne, then Jaehareys & Alysanne with Verm / dreamfyre wings, then counsil of 101, then the princess and queen in their green and black dresses, then Rhaenyra on dragonstone throne and Aegon on his stolen throne.... Rewatch it with and see if you see what I see.... maybe im trippin lol But I do agree with your thoughts or hopes that we will get more history as we go

@@BlazesRat That makes a lot more sense, because why would the images start recent then go back n the past then recent again? Plus the first two images don't actually match the manner of Aemon's and Aegon the Uncrowned's deaths at all. Especially not Aegon's.

Andrew of @KnightsoftheDrunkWatch. Great run down. I was seeing the same things, though you delve much deeper! This version defintely seems to be a recap, not only of Season 1, but of the history that lead us here. I agree, just like Season 1, we will see evolving versions. Season 1: Viserys model of Valyria My prediction: Season 2: Helaena's tapestry. You will see her working on embroidery with the same colors as the opener. My guess, when we do see changes, they will hint to what is to come, just like she does when she says "nonsense", which is never nonsense!

You are way off with the first two. First off, everything is chronological, and t makes no sense for just those to be out of order. Secondly, they look nothing like Aemon and Aegon ' the Uncrowned's death scenes. The first shows a man kneeling, who seems to be a slave. The second is a person cradling another's body in their arms. Aegon died with his dragon n a battle over a big lake. I'm sure no one got to cradle his body. These opening images are clearly from old Valyria. The first one is a slave.

The first one is the one I keep trying to figure out. I read somewhere that it is Azor Ahai.

@@mizztevyIt doesn't seem likely, since 1) it's not about Valyria and its origins and 2) it shows someone on their knees being sacrificed (and I don't think the person looks like a woman) but the other person is not driving a sword into their chest looking at the positions of the two figures - and the other person has a cup in order to collect the victim's blood Then the next image seems to show a woman holding a desd or dying man - the opposite of Azor Ahai and Nyssa Nyssa. Most likely these images show early Valyrians petforming human sacrifice. David Lightbringer thinks it's about how they first formed their bond with the dragons. This would also be a cool parallel to Bran's earliest Winterfell weirwood vision in ADWD, which shows ancient First Men performing human sacrifice by the heart tree, which is probably connected to greenseeing

I'm also a little tripped up on these two images. I agree with everything after the Doom of Valyria, but the first two don't line up for me. My personal reading was that the first one was Azor Ahai/Nissa Nissa (not totally sure on this one, but idk what else it could be) and Daenys the Dreamer (a little more confident on this one, it makes sense that it's followed directly by the Doom of Valyria and then Aegon's Conquest)
