The reason that Alicent asked Cole if he had told anyone is because he had confessed his relationship with Rhaenyra to her without her even asking. She probably figured he'd run and confess to anyone who'd listen.

I think I agree with Mesel here, Viserys's wishes can't necessarily be used as an argument for Rhaenyra's legitimacy. For one, their law and religion are pretty clear that males go first, and Viserys choosing his own heir Rhaenyra sets a dangerous precedent -that monarchs/lords can pick whom they want instead of the eldest male to inherit which would render marriage alliances null and unbinding. Like why would I marry my daughter to the eldest (or any) son of another house if the lord of that house can pick another of his kids to inherit and therefore my grandkids would never (co)rule that territory? Viserys's way would literally disintegrate the realm. Rhaenyra herself is walking on thin ice, she's a woman in a patriarchal society, her 3 first heirs are bastards and bastard claims are rejected by law, her husband is a wild card, and add to that the Viserys precedent mentioned above. - sorry for the long comment, hope you guys can read it.

Something super awesome to note about the twins fight, the director said the fight was supposed to be even, by that I mean if one got hit in the leg, the other did. When one gets hit in the arm, the other not long after They do it that way so the audience can’t tell who’s who to make it more dramatic! Sansa kept her mouth shut longer than Blood kept his mouth shut. 😂 I believe Hugh was the man who came to Aegon in the last episode to ask for payment in advance in exchange for making weapons for his cause. The dragon flying above Adam (the man who picked up the crab on the beach,) is Seasmoke, which was Laenor Velaryon's dragon. So he is an unclaimed dragon.

Fun historical fact: a LARGE percentage of prisoners under interrogation really did fold as soon as they were shown the torture instruments. Giving them a good look and letting their imaginations run wild was an integral part of the torture process. Furthermore, Blood was just a hired hand with no loyalty to Daemon: he knew he wasn't getting out of THAT situation so he might as well save himself a bit of pain. You can read Erryk killing himself two ways. The most obvious is that it was pure grief at killing his twin brother, plus shame at becoming a kinslayer. The other is that he realised that nobody would ever be sure which twin survived and whether they could trust him or not, so his last, loyal act was to do his queen a final service and resolve the problem for her. The British royal family has had queens in the past, but before recent times, the rule was that a male heir of any age would inherit before any female. So a princess would only become queen if she had no brothers at all, not just no brothers older than her.

@7:38 Deamon did say to Blood & Cheese 'A Son for a Son' we just didn't see deamon say it, but the look on deamon's face implied that he did. When cheese held a knife to Heleana's neck, blood went up to cheese and reminded him... Blood: 'A Son for a Son. he said (Deamon), does she look like fuckin' son to you?
@Caraxes_RoguePrince
@Caraxes_RoguePrince Ай бұрын
It’s not implied he did lol plus he denies it flat out
@Raskullbx
@Raskullbx Ай бұрын
@Caraxes_RoguePrince it is implied because we, the audience viewers, didn't see him say those words 'A Son for a Son' to cheese. Just the lingering face of Deamon looking at cheese after he asked, 'What if we can't find him?' That look with no words and just moved to the next scene was implication. The show runners wanted the audience to have a 'did he say or didn't say' approach type of feeling but blood remindin' cheese of deamon's words was confirmation to those paying attention. That he, in fact, told them to. We just didn't see him say it. so in episode 2, he can have "plausible deniability" when questioned by Rheanyra because we didn't see him say it, but Rheanyra doesn't believe deamon because she knows him also Deamon passing blame at Rheanys and Ser Erryk for not taking advantage of certian opportunities during the course of episode 1 is also a hint in itself because Now an opportunity presents itself and deamon takes advantage of it. He also said to rheanys in Episode 1, 'if you went ahead and killed Aegon, his line would have been extinguished' and used the words 'Son for a Son' as well So in Deamon's mind killin' Jearherys does just that. Killing his only boy makes Aegon have no successor and makes him look weak. In turn, it causes a psychological break to make the enemy move erratically, not strategically.
@Caraxes_RoguePrince
@Caraxes_RoguePrince Ай бұрын
@@Raskullbx nah a son for a son clearly meant in response to aemond imo plus daemon flats out denies it…daemon tried to take advantage sure that’s not the point we talking of he ordered the death of a child specifically and I just don’t think he did
@Raskullbx
@Raskullbx Ай бұрын
@Caraxes_RoguePrince Of course, he is going to flat out deny it, and he is going to keep denying it. Who are the people really going to believe? a prince's word or some small folk commoners that said it was him. Blood & cheese are scapegoats to deamon. we talking about a man that killed his own wife in secret in the hopes of possibly gaining her fortune and the ability to take on a new wife. He was even questioned by her own cousin during the green wedding and practically denied it then. Viserys even looked suspicious about it. because he knows his brother far too well, but nobody could prove it. So if deamon is capable of doin' that. You think killin' a child that is not his and has no emotional ties to is beneath deamon targaryen?.. he not picky on who's son it is Rheanyra might be, but deamon is not. All he sees it greens vs blacks, Us vs Them. So deamon pulled a denzel. if for whatever reason you can't get aemond 'He leaving here with something'

@@Penddraig7 If you know, you know. To the average viewer, there's no way they'd guess that. There's no precedent for it in any show material so far. Most people from what I've seen have thought it was Moondancer.
@Penddraig7
@Penddraig7 Ай бұрын
@@michaelhenry3234 and yet I am proof they would, I am the average viewer, I have not read any of the books or source material, I have only watched Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon like any other “average viewer” and I don’t go on social media and talk about it, I don’t watch the behind the scenes or after show stuff, I literally just consume the episodes themselves and watch reactors react to the episodes and they have no knowledge of outside of the tv shows either. It obviously wasn’t Moondancer because there was no rider and Moondancer is Baela’s dragon and besides, which dragon it was is irrelevant, it was a riderless dragon and therefore having a random scene which does not tie in to anything else in which a random character we only got introduced to earlier in the episode is on a beach and a riderless dragon flies overhead and that is literally all that happens in the scene, they might as well have had subtitles telling you what is going to happen in the future it was that obvious, it wasn’t subtle in the slightest and then add that to to earlier scene with Addam and Alyn and the on the nose conversation they had, they literally spelled it out for the viewer, it’s hardly rocket science. I get in today’s entertainment everything is spelled out for the audience, the exposition levels are off the charts but most people are capable of getting the message without the need of exposition and most audiences hate exposition because it’s essentially the writers saying the audience is too stupid to understand so they have to spell it out for them and that is just projection. This instance wasn’t exposition but it was still obvious what they were implying by the scenes we were shown. The only random scene that had no explanation, so I am going to assume we will get some context in a later episode, is the part with the thief leading up to the reveal of the hanging rat catchers, they gave no information about him they just gave a cold introduction to him and so implying he is someone we are going to see more about in the future and if I had to guess maybe something to do with Hugh, he wasn’t connected to the rat catchers, the others in the scene clearly were and were grieving over a loved one who was obviously one of those wrongfully hanged, so it makes no sense for him to be part of that scene unless he plays a part later, again, this is good writing, it’s not Rings of Power for example

I think Erryk killed himself because he couldn't live with killing his twin brother, his other half. In the books there are multiple accounts of the fight and it has been made into songs. In one account the fight lasted only a few mintutes and both died. In another account the fought for almost an hour and died in each others arms.

Aegon is the rightful one because the Targaryens go through male inheritance and a King cant randomly choose who he wants as heir. He could have chosen his cat doesnt make it so. If Viserys hadnt had a son, they would have been forced to have a Queen, setting the stage for future female rulers.

Thanks Stefani and Mesel, I'm not a patron, but I 100% vote Rhaenys. If the Great Council of 101 had chosen her over Viserys (and as a hard core ASOIAF fan, trust me there's conspiracy theories about that), we wouldn't be in this mess (likely A mess, but not this one). The Cargyll twins' story is a locked in piece of history (Sansa even mentions it in GoT), though again, the histories contradict about what 'actually' happened, and Hot D has given us another version (WHICH IS AS VALID as anything Fire & Blood tells us). Whichever version of history we believe, Ryan Condal's adaptation team brought the Cargylls to life as *decent* men. OK, they ended up on opposing sides of the war, but both were serving loyally. Cole (hereafter to be known as 'bag of small dicks') just got two good men killed, and I detest him for it. The show (imo) is doing an amazing job, and they're giving us moments of characterization that could never be part of the faux history GRRM gave us. Aegon II has become a highly complex man, we've watched his dysfunctional family interactions as he grew, and the boy HAS ISSUES. I never thought in a million years I would pity him, but I do. Tom Glynn-Carney is doing an amazing job, and when he was sobbing toward the end of the episode, I was so mad at Alicent for not giving HER SON a hug. Rhys Ifans (Otto) was bloody brilliant in this episode. Detestable, cold, unfeeling as ever, and yet giving me one of the most relatable moments in HotD. His expression when told that bag of small dicks had 'done something', is one I felt right down to my soul. The entire scene is the only time we've seen Otto lose control over his emotions, and you could finally see how unbalanced the loss of Prince Jaehaerys has made him. Looking forward to next week!

Regarding toning down Blood and Cheese - yeah, I think even HBO draws the line somewhere. Threatening that kind of thing on a child is... uh... quite dreadful.

Currently abroad visiting family so it's tough to find time for YT, but cheers to you guys. Hope you enjoyed this masterpiece of an episode. Oh and now that I'm watching : finaaaaally someone with the inkling that Laenor's dragon is currently riderless. Nice one there Stef. :) And I think you'd probably off yourself if you had to kill your twin. Not sure that's something you'd ever be able to live with.

Was Cole actually dumb enough to believe killing Rhaenyra would prevent war, I can’t quite figure that scene out?

Buenas Tardes Dulce Pareja, un poco de reflexión.. ♥❄&🔥´♬ 🖤🔥&🩸 Rhaenyra was educated to Reign and was the Delight of the Kingdom, but there was no peace, I believe that Alicent has no leadership, she was educated to obey without asking, and now she pays her agony with betrayal, agony of not loving, nor having given affection to her children, agony of turning her daughter into her, and of course, now she begins to pray to God but with the hammer giving and like a good praying mantis she devours what she loves most, her devotion to the 7. Jaehaerys put Viserys in the Throne by Conquest without deaths, but leaving the true Queen Rhaenys without her right, Alysanne Targaryen never forgave he (neither did I), another nail for the power of the Targaryen Reign, which began to have its days numbered

@@MugShotzReactsNot sure if it’s just a theory or from the book but I heard someone say Cole had dismissed the other guards so he wouldn’t get caught with Alicent. I dunno. It’s not said it in the show. 🤷🏼‍♀️

@@MugShotzReacts Cole is supposed to be the sworn shield of the Queen. He should have transferred from Alicent to Helaena or at the very least appoint a new sworn shield among the Kingsguards he commands to look after Helaena. He sucks at his job. Too busy banging the Dowager Queen + only one brain cell, entirely dedicated to hating Rhaenyra. Also it is possible that following Larys purge, many servants and simple guards are not yet replaced.

@@kristenlynn5458but Helaena’s bedroom is far from Alicent’s. It’s not even on the same floor. I don’t think it’s necessary to dismiss the guards in the upper floor in a different tower so that he won’t get caught
