House of the Dragon is an American fantasy drama television series created by George R. R. Martin and Ryan J. Condal for HBO. It is a prequel to the television series Game of Thrones and is based on Martin's 2018 novel Fire & Blood. Set two hundred years before the events of Game of Thrones, the series chronicles the beginning of the end of House Targaryen, the events leading up to the Targaryen civil war, known as the "Dance of the Dragons", and the war itself. The main contenders are Houses Targaryen, Hightower, Stark, Baratheon, Arryn and Velaryon.
Game of Thrones is an American fantasy drama television series created for HBO by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss. Based on the fantasy novel series, A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin. The series is set on the fictional continents of Westeros and Essos, and interweaves several plot lines with a large ensemble cast. I mean, did HBO meddle with GoT? As far as we've been told HBO was ready to give D&D a blank check and it was their choice to cut down the final seasons. And from what The Dragon Demands has been reporting, this season having 8 episodes is a result of them getting not 10 episode greenlit but 16, which they decided to divide into two seasons because they didn't want to end the season with Battle of the Gullet. I personally don't take anything Sara Hess says seriously because creatively she's way too close to D&D's disregard for the source material.

Just so you know it wasn’t her decision to write the Meleys scene in episode 9. That was Miguel Sapochnik. Otherwise she wrote a brilliant episode, ruined by the director who also gave us The Long Night and the incoherence of the BOTB

@@pastlife960 Even without the silly spectacle at the end, Episode 9 was not well written. It's easily the weakest episode of Season 1. Alicent's characterization feels silly, Aegon is made cartoonishly evil, and in general it feels very downgraded from the source material.

What they mean is that the Fall of KL feels like a climactic event. It should’ve finished out a season. As it is, we’re probably getting Gullet, Fall of KL, and the two Tumbletons next season.

It's only 3 seasons. If they were gonna do 5 seasons they should not have done all the time jumps in season 1. They should have slow rolled this show so they could have time to develop the rest of the spinoff shows

HOT D s2 will end with Rhaenyra taking her throne... Corlys storms in to announce the trouble brewing on the shores. I think as everyone rides out or heads towards the battle of the gullet, the season then ends. Because George says that a big battle needed to be shifted to s3 because of the two big action set pieces they have already this season i.e Rook's Rest and may be The Fall of KL unless they are really Harrenhall a battle as rumoured

If i remember correctly the original early articles and reporting said that HBO was the ones who made the decision to do season 7 and 8 as reduced seasons. Then after season 8 came out all of a sudden everyone blamed DnD... I think they were the fall guys for a lot of different peoples mistakes

In March 2015, EW published "Game of Thrones: HBO wants more than 7 seasons". In July 2015: "HBO says 'Game of Thrones' will be at least EIGHT seasons". In April 2016, EW said "Game of Thrones considers shortened final seasons". I give the article titles so you can find them easily.

What a bunch of bullshit. GRRM and HBO both wanted more seasons actually and D&D did not. They wanted to do Star Wars. And in House, it's to do with gradually taking the story to put Gullet in season 3. This other dude with Preston is such a negative prat, it makes me laugh how he just makes shit up to continually shit on a good show. If they came out and said they wouldn't be doing more seasons, he'd be crying about it too. There's no pleasing these punks. And Sara Hess meant to say that it wasn't up to them regarding shortening this season for the story related issue. They're not taking S2 too far and thats better for the characters. Just creating conflict with the fandom by always making negative stuff about something that's not there.

Maybe the blame is on me for this one for checking out the video but, I was expecting you to talk about production updates and not spoil the upcoming season. I was enjoying listening and then you quickly jumped into saying a huge~ spoiler that you see coming at the end of the season. Im not sure if you want for your videos to be unsafe for general HoTD updates without spoilers but, that's now the assumption I'm going to have to have for this channel.

HBO was 100% right to “interfere” with GOT and tell D&D to stop being lazy assholes and actually make more of the thing people enjoy, even if their motivation was just making money - I expect that from them, I don’t expect the artists to be hacks. It’s honestly just really weird to hear Carmine act like seven seasons was some bold and brilliant creative choice, and not just that seven was all they could be assed doing. HBO should have interfered more by firing them and getting actually competent people to make those remaining 12 seasons instead. 😂

This is WHY I didn't want to get sucked in to another HBO mess on this subject. And I already know what happens. Don't need a HBO/ new GRRM/DEI 4th version to get to the end of this story. Read the book. It's 7 chapters without HBO's impute. P.s. Tell GRRM to at least finish vol.2 of Fire & Blood. New excuses NOT to finish this book!
