James Dolenc and Tom Riker, known for their colorful and textured spaces, purchased this charming unit in 2018. Located in a historic 1920’s pre-war building, the apartment offered a layout that instantly appealed to them, despite its small size of 1400 sqft. Viewing it as their pied-à-terre to return to after weekends in Michigan, they embarked on a major gut renovation to transform the space.
While the unit had little original interest, James and Tom aimed to stay true to the heritage, integrity, and architecture of the building. They infused the space with vibrant colors and used decor and wallpaper to reflect the beautiful views of the lake, creating an inviting and timeless atmosphere. Their design showcases warmth, generosity, and affection, hallmarks of their renowned style.

To the person who mentioned your lamp cord scrunchie that's in the living room was distracting. In my opinion it is like a piece of art. I loved the color of it and I loved how it drapes and it. It's a statement it actually brings your eye. It doesn't distract it brings your eye and makes the whole thing cohesive to the room. So I love the lamp cord and it has inspired me to do the very same thing that I had a troubling hanging lamp in my bathroom chandelier and I'm going to do the exact same thing you guys did. Thank you so much for a lovely tour of your beautiful home. I've learned so much from the both of you. Take care❤

I was sold the second you opened your front door and met you. I fell in love with you when you patted your beautiful sofa and invited Teddy up. Then Sunny Arquette entered the room a peaceful loving family vibe was apparent. Loved your video and all four of you. Thank you for the tour.

This episode definitely ended too soon! I could have listened to them for hours 😊 What a charming couple and I really love how they interact with each other while explaining everything so well. The home is very elegant and cozy. I love all the wallpaper ! I enjoyed the care and consideration with which the designers/homeowners did everything in their home. I loved the blue grasscloth and rug in their living room. I also loved the paint color in the kitchen, the light fixtures everywhere, and the details and finishes in their dressing room. The whole was interesting as well as beautiful.

You say that your apartment is small, only 1400 square feet. Gosh, my 1830 Greek revival house is 1450 square ft. The dining room hanging fixture is wonderful.

Oh boy this is a beautiful apartment filled with items which paired with lovely. How nice it’s that they use t( what they called small apartment) . I like the wall’s paint colors. This tour couple amused me when one of them said: “ I’m a maximalist and the other indicated: I’m kind of a hoarder.” I didn’t see hoarder but rather a designed apartment structural form for a home-work space. Enjoy.

Very nicely done. You both have made excellent use of the space in form and function. The scale is well done. That rich green throughout reminds me of my stay in England, as well as other features. I'm a big fan of hunter green in an old world mix. This apartment has got to be a godsend during the work week.

Lovely, love the kitchen and their dressing room. Such great guys too. It was so nice to hear them talk about their team. I don't think any of the airhead pretend 'interior designers'' wives of millionaires ever acknowledge anyone. I'm now hungry to see their other home.
