Id be extra careful letting that wolf-dog roam free if its in someones backyard after escaping people are gonna think its an actual wolf and shoot it which would be legal both with a regular dog and or a wolf but a lot more likely to actually happen with a wolf looking dog.

I was thinking that, dogs don't need to survive in the wild anymore, so they don't need to see as well in the dark, and their eyes aren't as reflective.

@@mihneazarojanu5761 yes but that’s not why their eyes aren’t as reflective. Cats have reflective eyes and you can see their eyes in the dark, they’ve been domesticated for thousands of years. I think the difference comes from dogs and their many different breeds. In order to obtain so many breeds from their wolf ancestors, they were inbred for thousands of years. That’s why there are so many different breed of dogs. Evolution takes millions of years, to have this many breeds of dogs doesn’t really happen naturally. It didn’t happen until we domesticated them.

It is true, I think, that cats are known for reflective eyes more than dogs are. The explanation, I assume, is somewhere between genetics and the lack of necessity for dogs to have such reflective eyes.

@@partialbullet2215 it's not only cameras, you can see most of the dogs and cats eyes like that because of an extra layer in their eye, those extra layers reflect the coming light at night so you see it like it's glowing.

You know he ain’t lying about it being a wolf because of its reflective eyes. The dog looks like the red eye shot in humans while the wolf looks like it can see in pitch blackness.

Dogs also have reflective eyes. Both wolves and domesticated dogs have tapetum lucidum which is what makes their eyes adaptive to dark. I assume the difference in color is due to pigment cells within the tapetum lucidum. Having more or less of specific cells? Many factors affect how functional they are or how they react. Now this is just me speculating, but I wonder if the color of their irises also affect it. In humans, people with light eye colors are more likely to get red eyes because the lack of dark pigments in their irises makes it easier for light to go through and hit the back of their eyes, and the blood vessels is what gets reflected. The dark pigments act as a sort block to put it like that. I think the non-wolf dog is a husky, or some mix at least? They tend to have light colored eyes. Humans and dogs share A LOT of similarities when it comes to body biology, so it's not far fetched to assume the same red eye effect affects them too.

I know people tend to find it scary, but I love their glowing eyes. I can't find them scary on their own; I'm too used to interacting with dogs in low light. Out of all the nicknames I gave my family's old dog, one of them was "Sparkly," short for "Sparkly-eyed Dog." If the glowing eyes aren't accompanied by growling, bared teeth, or stalking motions, I actually find those glowing eyes kind of comforting.

astounding how much larger the wolf is to the husky, don’t get me wrong i already knew wolves were bigger but we’re so used to seeing huskies as big dogs that it’s funny. what’s better is that you think the wolf is a normal size until he stands up and walks away followed by the smaller husky. perfect creatures

Huskies aren't really that big. Not the ones I've seen. I've always seen them as medium sized dogs. This wolf seems to be about the size of all the shepherd's I've had.
