Don't feel TOO bad. Kobe's dad played in the NBA, did yours? Mines didn't and the same goes for over 99% of people. Not trying to sound like a dick, so I hope you or anyone reading this doesn't take it that way. We all have to "start" somewhere and that usually doesn't "start" with us. He already had an advantage over all of us and that started with his father (who also stayed in his life and raised him). What's the quote about being on your parent's shoulders? If your parent's are short (haven't accomplished much in life in a given field or in general) then how far will you, as their child be able to see into the distance and make the right choices to navigate your way throughout life and what it throws at you? Oh, and don't forget nepotism.

I was seeing some Jordan videos since it's been a while since hes been retired, and looking at him reminded me of how effortless he was able to score. I saw this game live and never did I imagine the man and player Kobe would become! I grew up in Chicago and we rode Jordan's nuts hard. Many of us became Kobe fans. Even my dad went from yelling, Miiiiiiike! to yelling, Koooobeeeeee! Kobe was unleashed once they traded Eddie. Man. Watching a young Kobe in the late 90s was like watching Mike his first 4 years in late 80s. Just was hard to imagine where they'd end up in NBA history. Legends. From skinny wide-eyed pups to legends you only call by one name. Global impact, rings, HOF, all-time scoring leaders. They earned everything that came to them. Never cheated the game

This game was like looking in a mirror... the fact that Kobe, at 19 years of age, had the audacity to challenge Jordan, in his prime, was unreal. If there was ever a time to impress, it would be in that moment and Kobe made sure he did just that... just imagine if they were both in their primes, it would be a showdown for the ages! The closest player that we'll ever see to MJ will always be Kobe, they'll never be another worthy comparison.

He knew Kobe was the next future king, the next gen, just like kobe knew Lebron was the next king after him. thats just because Jordan had the moves to avoid tough shots, when its tough he looks for other opportunities instead of shooting it which is very hard to do in the moment. Kobe was different, he didnt care about how tough it was if he can see the basket hes shooting it. Thats why Kobes shots were more iconic.

*Kobe joined the league at the perfect time.* He got to play against and or with Michael Jordan (a little post-prime), Scottie Pippen (prime), Dennis Rodman, John Stockton, Karl Malone, Shaquille O’ Neal (prime), Steve Nash (prime), Dirk Nowitski (prime), Allen Iverson (prime), Tracy McGrady (prime), Vince Carter (prime), LeBron James (prime), Camelo Anthony (Prime), Dwayne Wade (prime), Tim Duncan (prime), Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, Stephen Curry, Kyrie Irving, James Harden *To put into perspective:* He played against a 33 year old Michael Jordan here in 1997 and then he was dueling against a 31 year LeBron James for the last time in 2016. And they were BOTH the main player of championship teams during those seasons! He had a fair match against the two of the most highly debated players. Although we lost him, I am so happy that all of his hard work and love for the game as a kid growing up gave him the chance to play in the best parts of the NBA’s history, and that most of his life dreams as a kid came true. Ain’t that amazing?

Jordan knew he was something special!!! Everybody wanted to be Jordan. From 5'2 to 7'0,born 80's and 90's, everybody wanted to be Jordan on the court!!! Kobe was that!!! What a lot of us dreamed of!!! To showcase your talent to your mentor!!! And he showed Jordan that he put in the work!!! Respect KOBE!!! My favorite!!! No matter what job you have, have that MAMBA mentality!!!

@PACOIMAxGmoron???...FOH...y'all weirdo ass Kobe fans, I know the savage Mike was trashin players, I came up through the 80's & 90's watching him. Jordan would go to the extreme with his trash talking but at the end if the day it's all respect, now if you want to be honest Jordan don't look at Kobe like that, truth be told Jordan only see 2 players in his league, Bill Russell and Kareem.... THAT'S IT!!

@Joe Mendez that's another thing Kobe fanboys don't get, when y'all here something like that it only means far as their playing style, cause if he was the closest thing to Jordan don't you think they'll have Kobe higher on the greatest player ever?🤔😂 😂 all they talk about is Jordan and LeBron.....NO KOBE!!!
