@@nostupidgod9415 not really... kobe played longer than Jordan...so injuries mounted up on him. He also joined the NBA right out of high school, Jordan didn't. So beating ur knees up at NBA level right from high school wears ur body out. Kobe was 17 when drafted, Jordan was 22. Kobe 20 seasons while Jordan only played 15 seasons. That's why Jordan played into his 40's.

Background to this game: Kobe was a Shoe free agent in 2003 after his Adidas contract was up. So every game he wore a different shoe and he started wearing Jordans. Jordan noticed and said to Kobe, "You can wear my shoes, but can you fill them?" Kobe drops 55. Mamba Forever!

I bought 4 tickets to this game the moment I heard MJ was playing that year (myself, gf, dad, best friend). They were nose bleed seats and I couldn’t afford them, but this matchup was too big to miss. I could see Kobe shooting long range three after long range three. After the first quarter, they had a video tribute to MJ on the big screen. Kobe was not to be denied, he just kept dropping 3’s. Great game but you could clearly see it was now Kobe’s time. MJ goat, Kobe arguably 2nd. I have two pairs of Jordan’s, but the day Kobe died I bought my first pair of Kobe’s. I’m the same age and this one hurt. RIP Kobe.

I’ve seen Kobe play since I could remember not so much of MJ but you know of the allure. I was one of those kids screaming Kobe fading away shooting in a trash 🗑 in elementary school. So when I seen Kobe and MJ and their camps it’s so weird to explain how I felt. It’s was just fun to see them in that type of environment. It was a worthwhile experience for sure! If I wasn't alive to see Kobe with my own eyes, I might not believe this man was real. He's almost like a myth. I would never believe there was a person that went through the extreme lengths that Kobe did to be excellent at not only basketball, but literally everything that he pursued in life. The discipline, commitment, seeking of knowledge, eye for detail, along with his supreme confidence, charisma and passion for learning everything; from basketball and all it's intricacies, to multiple languages, to business, to writing novels, to poetry, to film-making, the list goes on. There was and never will be another like Kobe. People say a great person is a "1 in a million" or even a billion, and think that it's a huge compliment. Kobe was even rarer than that. I'll miss you forever Kobe. Now you can rest. Mamba forever ❤️

I’d say the same thing about Michael Jordan. I saw him against the Warriors in Oakland in 1997. Everybody was screaming his name and cheered when he scored. Nobody cared about their own team and worshipped MJ. Fans of opposing teams didn’t do that for Kobe when he played on their turf. That’s the difference. NBA fans all over cheered for MJ against their own team!!! That’s why MJ is the greatest.

Now, I am a huge Jordan fan, and as I look at these highlights, listen to the ooohs and aaahs and cheers for Michael Jordan, in the house that Kobe built. It is no wonder that Kobe wanted to be like Mike, mimic Mike, and got so damn close to being like Mike. These two have got to be the biggest global icons in sports history, along with Ali. Kobe was more skilled in terms of his ability to hit perimeter shots and make plays with footwork like mike if not better. Kobe just lacked consistency where as jordan would always take over. Sad to see Kobe in his prime years of 05 -07 That he was surrounded by 12 man benchwarmers that was close to impossible to make it to the finals regardless of how great you are.

@@Darius_Icewood he definitely was consistent the way he shot his teams out of wins especially in the finals. Look at his numbers in the 2004 finals. That 38.1% from the field on 29 more shots taken… 29… than the best player on the team is definitely consistent with the 41% he shot in all 7 NBA finals combined. Kobe was a selfish, super inefficient basketball player who’s overrated by a generation that wasn’t smart enough to actually understand what he actually was. They just wanted a Jordan so bad that they had to boost this guy up from a Demar Derozan level player all the way up to basketball royalty.

Kobe’s death actually immortalized him. He as a young man did say that’s what he wanted. Just like Marilyn Monroe and Elvis and Princess Diana. RIP Brotha... WE LOVE Y❤U!!! WE MISS Y💔U!!! I never had the opportunity to meet you. I want you to know you were the one that showed me that anything is possible, achiegreatness is possible if you put the time in, if you work hard & not just working hard but by showing others along the way that no matter how hard they work they'll NEVER work harder for it then you were willing to, also going above & beyond but not to just achieve but exceed any & all expectations, by continually staying humbled devoted by being (willing/wanting) to learn how to do & get better every step of the way as a basketball player, a husband & father. But when you dedicate over half of your life to your dreams & at the end of the day when it's all said an done & career is over, if your Passion, Desire, & Love still feels same as it was on your first day, in my opinion that the oppitimy of achgreatness, Kobe's 💙💞❤ never faded....
