That was so good. 🤗When I first started my plant journey with Alocasias and noticed the drops at the end of the leaves I looked up 🙄to see if my ceiling was 💧 leaking.😅 I ended up Googling it but I never knew the name of the process until today. Great video!!

Hi Memo 🙋🏻 love your informative segments. I can be terribly slack at times, only researching what my chosen plant requires to be happy. But, my interest in native terrestrial orchids means doing a lot more prep. Some of our terrestrial orchids only grow with mycorrhizal fungi, which feed the orchid to the point that they grow very few roots. Loved how you did some of the background, seeing the OMG floating around over the jungles gave me a laugh... Have a good week Memo

Thank you, Chris! Your research on native orchids sounds fascinating. 🌱🔍 Yeah was trying something new with the backgrounds and did not realise that the light would show up, I think it kinda worked to drive the OMG such cool science fact across in the end, or at least that's what I tell myself 😅😂

OMGOODNESS this is so relevant! I was given a beautiful calla lily for Easter. It's on my upper kitchen counter and I kept feeling droplets on my arm when I was working under it. It kind of looks like somebody misted it. It's healthy and I repotted it as it was really root bound and saturated when I received it. All good now but interestingly I tested it and yes it is sweet....and I found little ants running around underneath. I guess I'll give it a spray of Neem oil. I see no noticeable pest damage. Thanks!

Geek out🌱! Always looking for ways to refine indoor conditions to meet my plants nature to thrive. For instance, I found edema problems went away if I didn't water later in the day. Photosynthesis uses up that water that might need guttatating or form edema damage.

Love these topics. There are more types of arial roots, a plant can have multiple types. One is like a normal root that can absorb water and nutrients ( the type you love for propagation ) and the much smaller type that klings on to surfaces. Like the english ivy will also do.If you look in wikipedia there are even more.

Hi Memo, Thank you for the great video and some new terms I never knew. Now I know what is happening when my monstera deliciosa is producing water droplets at the end of the leaves. Also, because I grow orchids I have seen them produce nectaries, but was not sure why.

On my Monstera I observe guttation on the morning before the sun rise. I think sometimes it's less a question of water excess and more of a trick to get nutrients to the leaf from the roots before evapotranspiration kicks in or just faster, to be ready for the first ray of light.

A lot of tropical houseplants are CAM plants: Zz, Sansevieria, Hoya, most if not all orchids, Ceropegia...

Love your video ❤ I hate the guttation on my Alocasia Dragon Scale. That's the one Alocasia that never seems happy with the watering, because it's not only drops, but whole sections. Even though I put it in semi-hydro with a water reservoir which I let dry out before watering again. Still, never happy. Also my Monstera dripped onto my Calathea and it now has ugly brown spots on its leaves. 😭

I don't get extra floral nectories because ants LOVE mealybugs and protect them and farm them like cows. Oh ok you just said the same thing about aphids.
