I moved from Houston to NYC in 99 and no one would take my recommendations on listening to UGK or even the Geto Boys. They knew Mind Playing Tricks and that's it. It took Big Pimpin to really opened up their eyes to Texas. That track slowly but surely changed the game for UGK and a lot of Southern artists in general. Big ups to Bun B for seeing the potential and encouraging Pimp C to take part.

@@Polostar79 Ofcourse they didn’t. Just like Jay didn’t have to do the song with them. Either party was gonna still be good regardless. They literally just spoke on turning it down the 1st time on the song with Too Short. That ain’t hurt Jay pockets nor did it hurt UGK’s pockets. This wasn’t a situation where they desperately needed to do that song , was it a great move in the end , hell yeah of course, it’s a legendary song. But neither party needed to do it. It’s not always about the money. I’m not saying Pimp C was in the right or wrong either , it’s just the principle about him standing on how he felt. Whether he knew Pac or not. Or just like how he said he wasn’t gonna go to NY & Didn’t, & Jay said he wouldn’t go to Atlanta & didn’t.

Jay respected UGK, though.. They made crack music and that's what Jay sold. "Pocket Full of Stones" was the biggest D-boy anthem since "Dope Man" by NWA. Pimp was just being loyal to Pac. So he wasn't trying to ride wit Pac's enemies. That's probably why Bun told the story of Pimp talking to the Pac poster and getting his approval. That's corny as hell when you think about it, but I guess he felt he had to do that in order to do the song.

Name one song from Jay that sounds like Big Pimpin before Big Pimpin. Talking about Jay Z sound. This is Jay Z in 99. Jay didn’t have a distinct sound in 99. He was still swinging for the fences. Timbaland doesn’t even have a beat that sounds like Big Pimpin before Big Pimpin

This conversation just add to the point that the south don’t fuck with us up top ..it really be jealousy and envy in they blood for us up top… Hov did nothing but extend his hand just to get spit back with envy …offer you a record “I’m not coming to New York ..offered sneakers “we don’t wear that shit New York sneakers just for years later for y’all to still wear Ny sneakers smh and just in real life ..I live in the south right now ..and they spew hate for New Yorkers… even by calling me New York that’s hate ..so I called them all Georgia 🤷🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️

it goes both ways homie.. most tri state cats think Virginia's the south.. (it is but you know what i mean)..for the longest time they wouldn't fuck with the south.. took mcs, like kiss, fat joe, styles p.. few others to really open it up for unification.. all them "imma bring ny back" ass rappers couldn't do it but them buffalo cats did it without saying shit.. and they fuck with southern cats.. so its a revolving door my dude.. remember jay said he wasnt leaving either.. so it wasnt just pimp.. it was auto assumed pimp would go there.. when they wanted him.. pimp wasnt a dude that needed collabs.. nahmean

Hov extended a hand..he was who he was..so yea he was doing them a favor…and far as the south ..y’all niggas ain’t get active til 98 99 ..hip hop been around since 1983 or some shit y’all was just late as usual.. that’s all.. that’s why you name ppl like kiss and fat joe cuz the south ain’t have a name til the early 2000’s … give me an 80’s down south rapper , name 20 south rappers that was in the 90’s that have a name now!!!

Man whatever they should’ve asked about Beyoncé there lies a real issue! That makaveli lane gets likes and views and is most likely true. But there is a tape that’s at the root of this too. Pure speculation but very believable. Also the j. Prince dame dash orb gotti situation 🤔🤔🤔 I fk with Bun but he NEVER talks about this and no one ever asks him….

Folks didn't even understand Pac's impact globally. We were divided into sides in cities across Nigeria. Those who thought they were westside or eastside disciples. Not even on some geographical shit. Just off the Pac and Biggie's beef. I wasn't listening to Biggie's records outside the popular ones you heard on the radio or record stores until it was cool for Dre & Pac to hang with Diddy. SMH
Amazing weight loss transformation !! 😱😱
