This demonstrates Hovermap's advanced autonomy, obstacle detection and path planning capabilities. Wires 1 mm in diameter were strung across Hovermap's flight path so that, in autonomous flight mode, it had to detect these obstacles and plan a path around them. Using its Level 2 autonomy (AL2) system, Hovermap self-navigated around wires and, once it had entered a tunnel, determined that it was not safe to fly around the last wire. It then aborted the mission and returned back to the pilot.
Hovermap is designed to operate in harsh, inaccessible environments. Our customers need to fly missions beyond visual line-of-sight to capture data in areas where the operator can't see everything that is happening. It's absolutely critical that Hovermap can itself safe: detect and self-navigate around obstacles, capture data, and return to the operator safely.
