The idea to use the drawings like you have is top notch. It’s given me a new approach to teaching process driven knowledge (and other things). Thanks

It would be convenient if you added the subtitles, cause the voice is too quiet.

1) Does a modulating boiler only modulate down the burner, or does it also modulate the rad pump flow rate? 2) is the modulation power (kw) set by the opentherm stat or is the flow temp set by an opentherm stat and then the boiler chooses the appropriate kW? 3) if I use a weather compensating control like a google nest, does that automatically set the boiler output or does it set the flow temperature?
@GHancock Жыл бұрын
Boiler will modulating using heat load demand (hot returns will modulate the flame down). opentherm will lower the temp desired, abit like turning down the thermostat on the boiler when less heat is desired. The pump will feel resistant the slow down using less watts. Some pumps can be a pain if sludge is present in the system

Seems so inefficient to heat one body of water for it to heat another. Also, do you ever get pin holes an fresh an heating water mixing on the secondary plate?
@GHancock3 ай бұрын
Yes,pin holes although rare, can happen, the pressure in your heating water will go up even without heating and the filling loop disconnected. there are boilers without secondary heat exchanger ie intergas, but in hard water areas you can not simply change the heat exchanger if scaled up. Thanks for watching

hello, thanks for the nice video, i have an Ariston gas combi boiler, the hot tap water temperature fluctuates annoyingly between really hot and warm or even cold, i have many technicians trying to troubleshoot with no success. do you have any clue or suggestion about the cause of the problem and the solution?
@GHancock4 жыл бұрын
Farah Wahhab maybe a blocked plate to plate if it going hot and cold... you would need someone to look at it to know for sure
@FarahWahhab4 жыл бұрын
@@GHancock thank you, cleaned the plates and its now ok :)

Hello great video. Can you explain how a oil combi works with the preheat
@GHancock8 жыл бұрын
Pretty similar except due there a big preheat of dirty heating water to help.. But maybe I'll do one.. Cheers for watching

Excellent basic video on how a Combi Boiler works, simple to understand, it includes, both Hot Water and Central Heating, in 2.5 minutes. Mine is an old Valliant so i am sure it is the same, i doubt you get any better in understanding than this, video. These items are very complicated, and can be a minefield to the untrained person. Thanks for helping understand, and in a way a kid, and adult can understand, and gain knowledge. Just what i needed.

k brook the original diagram was drawn to explain to one of our apprentice, the fan had to be added in after... I added to the videos for a basic drift... just a starting point. The video skips a lot more info.. but it's best not to get to technical to kids just starting out. All our videos are there to help others who are interested, but training at colleges and on site is still the most important, thanks for watching 👍🏻

Please correct the opening slide. It's 'workings of a combi boiler' not 'working's...' which doesn't make sense.
