Ever wonder how farmers harvest all of the corn in their fields? Maryland farmer, Eric Spates, shows us how a combine separates the kernels from the whole ear of corn.

This machine is amazing. Doing the work in a few hours, what took 200 field workers days to do!! Then, all that corn had to husked by hand in the barn!!

Exactly what I wanted to know. My son 4 years old just got a JD combine toy from the dealership (holy cow it was expensive, glad I didn’t pay for it) and it came with a corn stalk attachment and I was curious how it worked

And how does the leaves covering the Cob get removed? Thanks for the video by the way
@LodewijkVrije2 жыл бұрын
im pretty sure the leaves covering the cob are attached to the stalk. so most likely they will remain with the stalk as the cob is pulled off. if leaves do stay with the cob, well then it just goes into the thrasher which separates the kernels from the cob and the leaves that are stuck to the cob, the kernels fall through holes in the thrasher and get augured into the hopper, the leaves and cob would remain in the trashing drum and go all the way trough to the chopper and will be chopped into chaff which the combine throws out at the rear.
