Well, it’s not presented to Jewish people that way. It’s most likely framed as ‘we just want to have our homeland, but these Arabs hate us,’ and all that. I understand how it happens, especially as someone living in the US and you see some of these crazy groups that appear in the Middle East (like IS), and then they tell you all Arabs are like that and what not. @@nemanjastankovic4439 I didn’t see this film yet, but that understanding changed for these four people. I think just coming into contact with people is a starting point. These Jewish students have been saturated with one perspective since childhood. I suspect that right now while this has become front and center on the world stage many will be encountering alternative narratives for the first time. Hopefully it will lead to something positive.

This was a fine movie. As a product of a Catholic grade school, I was well acquainted with indoctrination. But my experience was mild compared to the teaching depicted in the film, which I found shocking. It approaches what I know about about cult indoctrination. I interpreted Israelism as a film version of a Buildungsroman, a narrative of discovery and growth that ended with Simone 's achievement of moral and intellectual autonomy. It provides a model for others to follow on their journeys to these desirable goals. Congratulations!

I too went to Catholic school. I was even an alter boy for many years under several priests. And I studied cults for many years (I even found out the reason why people remain in cults even after given undeniable proof of its fallacies : its because their ego won't let them admit that they are wrong). So, I studied the Catholic Church to see if it was a cult as well (it has a leadership- even though cults do not need a leadership to be a cult - and it has traditions, and it has the Catacism of the Church). What I found out is that the Catholic Church is definitely NOT a cult. The biggest sign of a cult is CONTROL (even cults without clear leaders - like the Seventh Day Adventist - have a form of control in their society) . When I enter a Catholic Church, no one cares that I am there. There is no rush to endoctrinate me, there is no "come join us, man" (except for the donuts and coffee at the community hall twice a week.). Basically no one cares. (not a very good cult). You just go in, listen to music, rise and stand with everyone else, and pray between you and God. You don't even have to get Holy Communion if you don't want to, and NOBODY (I mean NOBODY) is there to force you to get communion (again, no body in there cares). But I still remember my up bringing in Catholic Church : Be humble, help as many people as possible, do not brag about your good deeds, always confess your sins, and always - always - ask Jesus to help you. If the Catholic church is a cult, then their teaching is not that bad at all.

Fifty years ago, if you weren't raised in an anti-Zionist tradition, supporting the State of "Israel" was synonymous with being Jewish. A Gentile, I was dating a young woman whose father was Jewish and mother a Gentile. Her mother was in my anti-war group. My girlfriend was a Unitarian, and her father and mother were members of a synagogue and a Unitarian church ("One foot in each, just in case," according to her father). My girlfriend's younger sister wanted to practice Judaism. I was in the process of converting to Judaism, so I helped the younger sister bring in the Shabbos. A while later she told me her parents were going to pay for her to go to "Israel". She was tremendously exited. . I broke up with the older sister and have never seen her since. An Hassidic Jew I met at my university asked his rebbe what he'd advise me and the rebbe said I was only required to uphold the Seven Laws of Noah, which is where I am now. But for a while, years later, I was considering Islam; I had some good Muslim neighbors from Bosnia. I'm a war orphan, and my grandmother came from an area of the Rhineland where Yiddish was created by the first Jewish immigrants. My half-sister, who's now some kind of pseudo-Christian Zionist, basically a N___, says I should have a blood test because I probably have a lot of Jewish genes. I taught myself Yiddish and am pretty conversant in the language. One of the worst horrors committed by the Zionists was eradicating Yiddish and the Bundist tradition. Yet, Jews don't realize how much they're like Muslims, but one day maybe there'll be a reconciliation between them. Incidentally, I once dated someone in NYC who'd been a high-school classmate of Noam Chomsky; which tells you how old I am now. I have such naches for American Jews today!

There are 2 types on Jews in this world. One who knows what prosecution means so they don't want others to experience the same thing they had faced in Europe. And the other one lost trust in humanity(non jews) after experiencing holocaust. They want to eliminate non jews who disagree with them. They attack non jew out of fear that if they don't attack now they will have to experience holocaust again.

I think we have more hope in the non-Arab nations. The Gulf Arab governments were moving ahead with normalization without seeking any concessions for the Palestinians. They can’t do that now, but I think many are resentful for the weapons deals they’re missing out on.

Turkey is still selling oil and they had weapon deal, they opened israeli embassy. Now everything has changed since oct 7 everyone is in same page. Iran and turks did sent their proxy to fight Israel. Iran and turks do talks back when they see zions attack muslims because both are democratic states unlike Arab gulf states. They can't speak like turks are Iranians because they will look like hypocrites. Arab countries are full islamic, they rule by sharia law. What ever happened in gaza is Allah's will. @@ahmeda.3198 Those at the head of those Arab gov'ts are probably resentful of missing out, mainly because most weapons deals are money laundering operations, so, as a result, those in charge of running those Arab gov'ts will be missing out on hording more personal wealth too. - But, what about al-Aqsa mosque? I was of the understanding that mosque, which sits in the site in Jerusalem where the Zionists want to build their temple, was a huge factor in this, since that mosque is a top holy site for ALL denominations of Muslims, which is why we are seeing a more united front among Arab nations. If the Zionists get their way, the al-Aqsa mosque will be demolished just like Gaza, to pave the way for the building of a Zionist temple on that site.
@ahmeda.3198
@ahmeda.3198 6 ай бұрын
@@chitownladyj Well, I assumed those leaders had already looted enough for their personal wealth, but for some people there is no such thing as enough. What you said about the Dome of the Rock mosque is correct, however many of these leaders don’t think like Muslims, they think like gangsters, but one can say that their criminal urges are somewhat tempered by Islam. Either they don’t care about the mosque, or perhaps with normalization they were expecting their own citizens would get access to it as part of trade and tourism. Regarding the rebuilding of the Solomon Temple, I’m surprised you’re aware of that. This is one of the three grievances cited by Hms for the attack. Specifically, there was desecration happening by right wing Israelis before all of this, and there is apparently the main prerequisite for the building is nearly ready. Specifically I mean there is a specialized type of cow needed as a sacrifice in order to have purification agents needed. I think these agents are required to purify the site of the temple and will also be used for ceremonies within the temple, but I’m not certain. Anyway, I believe the specialized cow has been found and it may be that this group is ready to rebuild the temple. Probably the Saudi authorities aren’t even aware of this, but I don’t know for sure.

I am a dual British/Isrseli Citizen and can identify with this a lot. In 2006 after University I was very close to making aliyah which is making a full return to live in Israel. I was close to also joining the army. Thankfully my father who grew up in Israel and served in the army talked me out of it, as after he served he stopped believing that the state was virtuous. I have had a massive journey but this last three months has now led me to the point where literally I will no longer visit Israel or renew my citizenship. Israel's actions are beyond deplorable and those that deny it literally do not have a shred of humanity left in them.

Throughout the 20th and now what appears to be trending also for the 21st century we are still witnessing the emergence of nationalism. I understand the impulse of wanting to be a part of something greater than oneself and it is a great way to motivate mass numbers of people to achieve things greater than what we would achieve individually. That being said, nationalism often degenerates into something that is almost invariably a way to control and coerce people in a way that denies others their human rights while demanding to enjoy those same rights which are denied to “others”. Every nationalism based movement always ends up this way. It’s cool to be proud of one’s national and individual achievements but it’s not cool to use it as a truncheon to subjugate others. With that in mind how can anyone still support these archaic ideas and where they eventually lead?
