monnie j Hi Monnie. It touched me especially because I am a social worker (in New Zealand). Fostering can actually be damaging as not every foster parent(s) does it so generously. Hearing about real people parenting teens is a real gift in any society. When his adult ‘foster children’ met him, wow, his legacy is exponential. Xx

Yes. It's ridiculous how the foster care system is. I was in care from the age of 9 to 20 and was placed in over 40 placements because I was thrown around so much. The foster care system is like a prison for kids, so what this man is doing is amazing. I wish I could meet him today to tell him how much it means to me to know that he's helping my brothers and sisters out and letting them know that they're no different just because they're in foster care. They deserve love too.
@diannadanyahdandridge85694 жыл бұрын
I'm a new foster parent. I only wanted teenagers because I knew it was hard for them. My first placement last year was a 16yr old boy. Who has been leveled up. I now have a 10 yr old boy. It get tough at times, but I love these children and only want the best for them. I hope in some small way I can make a difference in their lives. At least I want them to remember that someone loved them. And that someone was me. This was an awesome segment. It brought tears to my eyes. I'm so happy to see a brother stepping up to mentor our young black boys. Hats off to you my friend. May the Most High grant you long life and good health.

@tyraperez4 жыл бұрын
Most foster kids aren't even taught how to be self sufficient and are kept from the real world then are thrown into the overwhelming real world to figure it all out for ourselves. We beg for help and people to prepare us for the real world but they won't unless we run into someone like the wonderful man in this video before it's too late.

I work with children in foster care and each child brings something new to the table. The older kids are most definitely looked over, but they need so much more support than people realize. They will be an adult and without any type of family, support, or encouragement. I love what I do and love helping the children I work with. It takes work, patience, support, and love.
