True. Our school system helped a lot in shaping minds. We have different tiers of boarding schools and chances are that one will not end up in your neighborhood or at least your neighborhood school will have kids from other cultures, hence the integration with other cultures. We also make friends easily and can hold conversation with most people. English also helps.... compared to most Countries.

Using WOG when you know that is an offensive word. You say you are school counsellors and you must be messing in the kids head’s. Or will you say you don’t know it is a racist word. Nobody wants to come to USA as we are here promoting Africa. Going to do what! working yourselves to death doing $9 an hour job. With all the racism facing everyday and police brutality. US is not paradise and with your Trump who has never seen an outrageous suggestion that he can decline. E.G. Like people injecting themselves with disinfectant as a cure for Covid-19.

@@ritaokigbo1297 was that combativeness to a sista necessary? while nigerians are drowning to hike to europe and you talk about $9? you can start a $9 job in US and move up to $100 because of determination..then use the money to invest in africa, whichever part you come from.please...

@@romenhome5138 are you saying that you don’t know the meaning of WOG. How many people have moved from $9 to $100 an hour job without qualifications and experience. Is it as easy as you say it is. I am all for hardwork and enterprise but let us not kid ourselves. That the streets of the west are not paved with gold. This so called sista knows why she used that derogatory term. If she is a school counsellor as she claims to be she would know that words carry a lot of meaning. You can be broken by words as well. As a counsellor she should show empathy, congruence and unconditional positive regard towards those children she comes across in school. Where has this sista shown this by using the word WOG. I stand to be corrected by those that believe this word is good. Myself I will never accept this word as anything but offensive.

It is Nairobi a beautiful city but expensive. Where you can enjoy the sunshine in Africa while having the required facilities and amenities on tap. Those that have the money live like royalty. In fact the first time I went to Nairobi, could see why some westerners would never leave and have made it there permanent home. Unlike in west Africa where have rainy season which can last up to six months and dry seasons and during the dry season the sun can be overwhelming. With the Sahara Desert continuing its march to join the Atlantic Ocean. With the Niger River being the main river in W.Africa. Whereas in Kenya which lies on the equator has pleasant tropical climate. The monsoon winds when they come make the high temperatures of the coast bearable. This climate suited Europeans.
@stanleyglover5534
@stanleyglover5534 3 жыл бұрын
@ Rita Okigbo Nairobi is actually a temperate zone , meaning it has 4 seasons in a year, autumn, winter, spring ,summer . The coastal area of Mombasa is tropical climate very much like Ghana , wet and dry seasons in a year. And Ghana does have the Volta river on which the Akosombo hydro dam was built . Research your posts.

@ritaokigbo1297 3 жыл бұрын
@stanley glover - Maybe you should go and read up on your geography. One of the reasons that Europeans could not settle in w.africa. Did I mention Ghana in my post? So who should do research before posting. I was giving my own point of view. You can always give yours. I don’t know why some of you can only come here to harp and be armchair critics. Travel and broaden your horizons and open your minds. For your information I have visited Ghana and know about the Akosombo Dam which was completed a few years before the Kainji Dam in Nigeria.

@@ritaokigbo1297 The reason why there are few whites in Kenya & East Africa despite the favourable climate is the dominant Kiswahili language, Massive educated black Majority population, great native African diversity & the fast growing black middle class. It pains them adopting to an afro centric civilization. They can't stand shopping in Black owned Malls or working in black owned companies like KCB & Equity. Kenya is a definition of a black free world where you find business people from Kenya, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Tanzania, Ghana, Uganda, South Sudan... etc A perfect turn off for white supremacists.

@@stanleyglover5534 Wrong, there’s no winter in Kenya! We need to quit trying so hard to identify with the west. Sure July and august are cooler months in Nairobi but as someone who lives in a freezing cold western country, I strongly disagree with this statement. And no, I don’t care if there are reputable books that say otherwise! You’ll know winter when you see it! Nairobi is a tropical paradise! Heck after braving -30c weather, I don’t bother with a sweater while home.
