A new battle of faith is being driven by some pastors and politicians in the United States.

So, though techinacally correct, you lack the historical perspective. Conquistadors also brought Christianity, these people offered human sacrifice of entire defeated tribes, they also brought, horse, and education and healthcare, for every fortification built, they also established a mission, some still operate. You wouldn't be able to step in Latin America had not the Conquistadors arrived. And they would have probably be attacking nations and offering you as human sacrifice if Conquistadors. @@magatism there were many more slaves than only 2000. Plus, the spanish used slaves in South America, so they really didnt have to export them. And that's not including the "encomiendas", where the indigenous people would be put under forced labor as tribute and rewards for the conquest. The rape children of these "encomiendas" were called "mullato's" and became second class citizens for the Spanish. And also not to mention the Asiento de Negros, which gave the Spanish monopolistic control over the African slave trade and ensured slave labor would reign in the region well into the 1800's. That is what actually happened. Didn't they also welcome the Spanish until they imprisoned Montezuma? I'll make sure not to hold their leader hostage so I shouldn't have to worry about them sacrificing me. I'll just also ignore all of the other major tribes that would be in the region and didn't have human sacrifice. 🙄 Read the book: Lies My History Teacher Told Me. You will realize how much bullshit the "Spanish saved the South Americans" really is based on first hand writings.

Endoctrinatation is different from guilability... One needs to have in mind that in the united states , people are forced from young age to adore flag and national anthem since early school years in a way that only dictatorships do ... And i was raised two doors down the man that topoled the salazar dictatorship in Portugal where during the Dictatorship the ideals forced into the people mid 20th century were exactly the same as in america now where even taking a knee is a scandal where in every other country is a sign of respect..... Guilability we all have ( i have ptsd my own was abused often ) ..... Endoctrinatation though ... Its a much more difficult problem to solve especially in a country where most ppl descendant from migrants now hate migrants while reading from the gore fest which is the King James ( the Genocidal Rapist ) bible which is the only sect of christianity that believes and glorifies the apocalipse of the end-time driving most christian zealots into more extremism than all religious ppl i see in Europe..... And i go evety day to the shop across the road to be served by a afghani man that got all is family killed by war ( and is the most peaceful kind and tolerant person i know ) ....... Endoctrinatation is a real problem and the USA is suffering a lot from it ... I hope americans get some sense soon before worse than January 6th happens ... And lest we forget the Bush family is trying to overthrow Democracy in favour of fascism since the 1930s and Prescott Bush that also planned to storm Washington and thankfully was stopped by Smedley Buttler... America is dealing with 1 century of the elite sponsoring fascist endoctrinatation, not guilability ( But i see from where you are coming from ... Not disagreeing with you ... Just adding up )

Yes. But we've been saying for the past 30 years that schools don't teach civics anymore, etc. But it isn't just the product of those "failed" modern schools that is so clueless. There are so many people who went to school in the 50's 60's, 70's, who think that there will be military tribunals and summary executions of civilians... and they seem to believe that is a _legal_ solution to political differences. The problem isn't the lack of education, the problem is the growing push of extremism and the failure to confront it.

@@GenZBasedrequiring schoolchildren to swear an oath to a piece of cloth every morning, for starters. Some faiths, like Quakers, don't swear oaths or loyalty to earthly powers. Requiring schoolchildren to say that they are under god, because not all of them practice a religion. If they rotated the pantheon, like proclaiming they're under Zeus, Allah or Cernunnos, would you agree with that? "Voluntary" prayer in school, like at Texas football games, becomes involuntary when the coach is leading it, when students who are not participating are urged to join, or benched after standing by their principles and not joining the herd. If you can't teach your child your religion at home and in your place of worship, why do you want publicly funded schools to teach it? Keep your religion out of public education. Kids should be learning reality in school, like the Earth isn't flat or hollow, the moon landing happened, and how to apply reason and logic to new things.

Your making stuff up besides didnt atheist commies kill much more? And fascists as well who denounce most aspects of religion? I researched about the Islamic conquests the 80m claim lacks proper evidence and is disputed and even the decrease of population by 30m claim from 1000-1500 is also disputed and there are reports that Hindu population did grow under Medieval Muslim rule as India is densely populated like China and has so many people Wars would easily destroy lands combined with droughts as well as Plagues that could contribute to death, US expansion did not lead to 20m deaths thats cap, of the 70 or 90m Natives in both Americas the amount that are in the midwest is, great plains and rocky mountains is low and 90% of all natives were killed by Plagues and those who were actually genocided had been genocided by the Spaniards in numbers lower than 10m. ''islamic terrorism'' did not cause 150,000 deaths, if your talking about ISIS then yes and most deaths were btw of Muslims, Iraq war is correct however its a capitalistic war not a religious one that was started by greedy cooperations, the Armenian genocide was led by the Ottomans true who btw were controlled by the 3 Pashas under the Young Turk rule who are nationalists btw and genocided the Armenians, Greeks and indirectly the Assyrians. Also many Arabs accepted Armenians into their lands as in rescured them hence the huge Armenian communities you see in Syria and lebanon and small ones in Palestine and Armenian-Arab relations back then and now are really good so I doubt its religious. The last one about the catholics not letting people wear condoms leading to deaths is simply not true and its BS, since the Catholic church prohibts sex before marriage and fornication and butt sex as well so technically it decreases it not increase. Congolese genocide by King Leopold II was about rubber and about consolidation and about making the most out of the congo economically, there were literally no religious incentives. The holocaust done by the nazis was in the name of racial purity not religion, the guy Hitler a ''christian'' hated his own religion and said he wish that they were conquered by the muslims a millenia ago to develop a strong warrior like aryan culture even then he wasnt a muslim or a proper christian and he had woodo superstious beliefs in racial purity which are extremly authoritarian but far from religious. the Muslim conquests which saw less than 80m people die with many being armies dying or droughts/plagues spreading at the time of conquests which saw many people die would decrease it to 10-15m people most not in the name of religion hindu or Muslim but as a consequence of war but I will count it. Removing the 30m figure which you blame on catholics thats 30m less so far 100m less, Holocaust not being about religion but authoritarian ''secular'' ideology 6m less, Congo genocide not being about religion but trade and business 13m less, The US expansion in manifest destiny could not have killed 20m its statistically impossible so I will decrease it to 1-2m thats 18-19m less which is a exaggeration but a realistic figure, Iraq war being about consolidation and prompted by weapons arms manufacturers so its in the name of money and US consolidation of power, that removes 500k also about the trans-atlantic slave trade some religious justifications were made but it was mostly about economics, cultural and racial superiority rather than religion so I will remove that as well: so far its 195m - (70m + 30m + 13m + 19m + 6.5m + 500k + 14m) = x x = 37.5m If we were to count it 15m instead of 10m, 2m instead of 1m then its at best 44.5m deaths by ''religion'' even though this was at a course of more than 1000 years now looking at the deaths that the Nazis, Japanese, communists and secular capitalists caused its more than 100m with communism accounting for more than half. So The two conclusions are that its either secular ideologies are worse than religion or that killing is a inherent part of human nature transcending any form of belief or ideology.

@@Xnovality I am not laying. 2000 years ago, he was a Jew. But a lot has happened since he was crucified. When Jesus was crucified, he ceased to be Jewish and became Christian since Christians were his followers. Jews believe Jesus is a liar and an impostor Around the start of the second century, roughly 80-90 years after his crucifixion, the area he lived in became known as Palestine (Falistina in Latin) as a result of a Jewish uprising. Many Jews left, but many remained. By the fifth century, most Jews who remained in Palestine converted to Christianity, and by the eighth century, most of them converted to Islam. Throughout the ages, Palestinians of all faiths lived peacefully, with occasional periods of upheavals, naturally, but those were to be expected in more primitive times. Most of today's Palestinians have been there for thousands of years. Some trace their roots to the Canaanites, while others from Ancient Greece. Of course, many also trace their origins from the Arabian Peninsula and others from Egypt or other parts of the Levant, but according to DNA testing, most Palestinians share the same genes as other peoples of the area, including the Lebanese, Jordanians and Palestinian Jews. At one time, many of today's Palestinians were Israelites, many of them were Jewish, including Jesus. By dark haired and dark skinned, I meant compared to Europeans and Americans. He was probably not blond haired and blue eyed as depicted by Europeans and Americans, although he may have been. I am Lebanese, and I have light brown hair and blue eyes. Some of my cousins have blond hair and blue eyes. But were are definitely not the norm, and that would have been even more unusual at the time of Jesus. He most likely looked Mediterranean, so he probably had olive skin, brown hair and brown/hazel eyes.

Christianity trough the Catholic Church was founded on violence just like Islam. The first crusaded were launched by a man now called Saint Irenaeus in the between the year 150-200 against other Christians who did not fall under the Catholic church. Part of the dead sea scrolls are remains of those Christians that were killed which historians group as Gnostic Christians because nothing survives of any organization if they had one since they did not believe that a orthodoxy was needed to be Christians, they were peaceful and believed in meditating to escape the hell of our physical bodies. Basically the first major thing the catholic church which is the ancestor of all modern christian goups in the west did was to kill off the peaceful Christians.

@@brainstem2023 Many stories in the bible lack any historical evidence. The Jews enslaved in Egypt, Noah's Ark, a worldwide flood, the resurrection of a savior, etc, lack evidence. Not only that, but research has revealed that many of the stories in the bible are recycled tales from even older civilizations. One notable example is from the Epic of Gilgamesh, which pre-dates the writing of the bible by nearly 1000 years. It contains a story extremally similar to Noah's Ark and the great flood, only with small details differing here and there from the biblical version. The idea a savior in the form of god's son has also been used in numerous ancient cultures long before Christianity or any other modern segmented religion adapted the tale. It's important to realize that these stories have nothing to do with science. A lack of science is actually what allowed these stories to spread and flourish thousands of years ago.

I agree, government and schools have no place for any religion. Any one religious belief goes against science and goes against other religions. To have it in government would alienate one group or another, it's best left in churches, homes, and individual beliefs. That is what is legal and right for everyone. But we know that it influences peoples decisions and people think they are doing good or gods will to elevate something so important to them. It's a cycle that won't end.

As a European, from Portugal, I pride myself in the ecumenical celebrations we have yearly with bishops, rabis, imans and other religious leaders, in a display of tolerance and acceptance in the community and the wider country. This is something which is not flashy or loud, but it really makes a difference. Looking at the US from Europe, this is really, really strange. And by the way, I was a senior high school foreign exchange student so I really hope the US overcomes these divisions.

Begun by George Washington, signed by John Adams and ratified unanimously by a Senate still half-filled with signers of the Constitution, this treaty announced firmly and flatly to the world that “the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion.”
@tef_newalbionpacificmedia
@tef_newalbionpacificmedia Жыл бұрын
"The United States of America have exhibited, perhaps, the first example of governments erected on the simple principles of nature: and if men are now sufficiently enlightened to disabuse themselves of artifice, imposture, hypocrisy, and superstition, they will consider this event as an era in their history...It will never be pretended that any persons employed in that service had any interviews with the gods, or were in any degree under the inspiration of heaven, any more than those at work upon ships or houses, or labouring in merchandize or agriculture: it will for ever be acknowledged that these governments were contrived merely by the use of reason and the senses..... Unembarrassed by attachments to noble families, hereditary lines and successions, or any considerations of royal blood, even the pious mystery of holy oil had no more influence than that other of holy water: the people universally were too enlightened to be imposed on by artifice; and their leaders, or more properly followers, were men of too much honour to attempt it. Thirteen governments thus founded on the natural authority of the people alone, without a pretence of miracle or mystery, which are destined to spread over the northern part of that whole quarter of the globe, are a great point gained in favour of the rights of mankind.” ~John Adams, A Defense of the Constitutions of Government of the United States of America 1787

It was the first treaty between the United States and Tripoli (now Libya) to secure commercial shipping rights and protect American ships in the Mediterranean Sea from local Barbary pirates. It was authored by Joel Barlow, an ardent Jeffersonian republican, and signed in Tripoli on November 4, 1796, and at Algiers (for a third-party witness) on January 3, 1797. If you're a Christian, you would know the characteristics of Jesus. Jesus would never engage in "casual locker room talk" that invites power over another person, making statements like "grab her by the [cat]". Jesus would never go up to hurricane victims and playfully toss toilet paper at them and ask meaningless questions like "Is that your boat?". Jesus would never brag about his "crowd size" as if that's what mattered. Jesus would never incite mob violence to give himself power. The list goes on and on. Why conservative Republicans chose such a man as their champion for "Christian" values, I have been left guessing for the last 6 years.

He told women that their spiritual life is more important that their work in households. He told people not to blindly follow rule but follow their hearts instead. What upsets me as a Baptist (Australian) is that many of these people identify as Baptists, yet it was Baptists who spoke most strongly against theocracy in the 17th and 18th centuries, and influenced later though less radical thinkers like Locke. Even in the early 1960s, when I became a Baptist, any links between Church and State, even if it was beneficial to both parties, was treated with suspicion. Our first pastor was one of the kindest, most knowledgeable and compassionate men I will ever meet. He was well loved, even today many years after his passing. And his replacement was a man who felt we needed to be scared into loving Jesus! He was quite a fear preacher and slowly but surly saw his congregation decline. What's that saying... Well, yes, the Puritans who arrived in America did escape England because of religious intolerance. However, the Puritans' own religious views were also highly intolerant of non-Puritans. They wanted to create a theocracy, a godly society based solely on Puritan ideas, one in which non-Puritans would be second-class citizens. The fact that they didn't get to do that in England is what they considered intolerance and made them leave for America. This is a theme one can still see in the language of the religious right in the US: when the religious don't get to discriminate people according to their faith, they call that persecution.

As a German, a liberal Christian, and a teacher, I'm more and more shocked by what's going on in the US. The lack of critical thinking is astounding. In the whole video, there wasn't anyone giving reasons for their opinions. That is something my students learn in 6th grade. And whenever I hear people saying what they've said in the video I can only think "What does that have to do with you? Why does that concern you personally? And what would Jesus, a man who loved EVERYONE, say about that?"

American evangelical Christians have adopted fascism and theocracy. Its frightening. And I say that as a left-wing Christian who does not want to live in an American theocracy. We had a theocracy once in America, under the Calvinist Puritans, and it lead to witch huntings and hangings.

Hi everyone, basically the United States is passing through its twilight years: First, the United States democracy is on the decline from a full democracy to a flawed democracy. Second, the debt of the United States is getting bigger so that it is threatened with bankruptcy. Third, US spending is greater than US income. Fourth, the influence of the United States is decreasing in the international world. Fifth, the citizens of the United States are increasingly divided, thank you 🙏😂

was'nt religion always a red herring in northern ireland - if you are catholic, you were probably irish by birth - if you were protestant, you were british by birth and recognized the monarchy as both your govt leader as well as leader of your church is'nt it interesting that only 100 years after ireland became independent, they are now being controlled by the eu ? ireland may call itself a member state - but you are NOT a country if someone else controls your borders/money/immigration
@mike60521x

@@cstuartdc I think you misunderstood my reply. My family fought for the Irish Republic in 1918 for its independence - for hundreds of years, Ireland was under british occupation ( or colonialization, if you prefer) My ancestors are probably turning in their grave thinking that the independence that was so hard to gain was so easily handed over to a cabal of bureacrats that now control their border. I never once advocated for a king. What is so wrong about wanting a free homeland unfettered by foreign dominion ? Do you want Britain to again control Ireland, India, Jamaica, Hong Kong, Kenya, Sudan, Lesotho, Botswana, Northern Somalia, Egypt, Eastern Ghana, Gambia, Niger, etc ? Remember that the british controlled the slave trade many years ago - you cant say they did it for the benefit of the natives. You seem to argue that an independent country is a bad thing. Even England has its fill of the EU and left the 'loose confederacy' that you love. Funny choice of words you had there - In the US, the word confederacy denotes slavery. It is funny you call that a Trumpian vision - but Merkel controlled the EU with an iron fist for many years.

As a European and what is called an evangelical pastor, lecturer, mission director and theologian, I follow what is going on in your country with a combination of both interest and creepiness. You know, there is a German saying which we Germans do well to keep reminding ourselves. It goes "Wehret den Anfängen," and it means "fight back when you see fundamentally wrong things brewing." Brothers and sisters, I think it's high time for that.

We'll take care of our crazy fundamentalists, and you take care of your voracious p I m p s. The brothel industry has made your nation the slave trading hub of Europe, through which the destitute of Eastern Europe are trafficked. Making an industry on the backs of impoverished women, 90% of whom were molested in childhood, is the quintessense of fundamentally wrong. It is - far beyond creepy - absolutely heartbreaking to watch what's happening to Germany. Who's going to teach IN Deutschland? Don't turn your back on German women, and all vulnerable European women: The oldest oppression is taking over, in Germany.

The language our great GOD best hears is silent love. When many hearts silently scream for righteous justice & get ignored, it truly feels like "volcanic activity" brewing inside. When the good shepherd calls, his flock recognize his voice. Some hear whispers, other's hear defining thunder. My Cross My GOD GOD promised Moses he would free his people from bondage and he delivered. There's no reason not to believe our Cross won't deliver on YESHUA CRISTO'S promise.
