When you are depressed, cleaning your room feels like climbing Mount Everest. The most difficult part is to start. Once you have started, then little achievements motivate you further until the job is done.

I agree. I also find that even doing 15 minutes of cleaning or tidying can be more palatable. Setting a timer helps too. Its amazing what can get done in a short period of time...and crazy how sometimes 15 mins can easily turn into a lot longer

A timer is the key. So powerful. And saying that's it for the day is helpful. 15 minutes every day. That's it. And just start with trash. Then dishes. No other advice because that could get overwhelming. To anyone reading this, you got this. If throwing away trash is too hard, please reach out to a therapist so you can work through what you have going on.

You can pull yourself up by your bootstraps in almost any situation if you have an exceptional mind. However most of us have an average mind and the more counter our environment is compared to our ideal self the harder it is to lift ourselves out.

The term often used to describe this behavioral tweak is "friction". It can even go both ways - you can also remove friction for stuff you want to do, like buying healthy foods for snacking. Edit: Nvmd lol, it gets mentioned at 5:44

I think it still has a certain level of discipline involved, it still takes discipline to not go out and buy Doritos but the rule of not bringing them into the house enforces that rule

One tip on habits: Look for what you are already doing in your living space and leverage that pattern. For example, I noticed I was having a hard time throwing clothes in a hamper, but I did tend to toss them in a certain area of my room. Rearranged my room to put the hamper there and the problem was solved.

Honestly this is why I regard Architecture and Interior Design so highly, these designers really consider the smallest details like air flow just for a better human experience and it's so overlooked. A powerful thing to do is to design your space in a way that speaks to your heart individually; a lot of us are living in makeshift 'situational' rooms that meet our immediate needs, yet overlook our long term desires. Taking control over this small thing can make the biggest difference! 🏠✨

Same here, the first step that I made into creating a prettier space for myself was paint cow prints and hung up CDs (the reflective side) on the wall in front of me which I'd look at whenever I was bed bound. It's funky and entertaining and unexpectedly at first made me so much less depressed during the times I couldn't even look at a tv/phone and just had to stare where my eyes landed because it was always that wall. I'm moving into a new room soon and will put all of my effort into creating the perfect little space no matter where I sit or lay so I'll always have something to distract me. Maximalism if you will. Fun colours. Pictures and plants everywhere. 2 tvs, one in my bedroom and one in the living room, easily accessible no matter where I'm forced to be. Double skin care (or even toothbrushes), one part in my bathrooms and the other half next to my bed. These are the most of my tips and recommendations. They have improved my life in so many ways and hope you're able to create the perfect little spot for yourself aswell because you deserve it!

People, environment really does matter! When I was living in my parents' house it was a complete disaster. My parents would always body shamed me, mocked me for my passions, and were saying all the toxic things to me 24/7 and I hated myself and my identity because I believed all the unpleasant things they were saying to me. Put simply, I was surrounded by negativity every single day. BUT when I finally moved out of my parents' house, my life got appreciably better. The first thing that changed was that I didn't have all the negativity around me any longer, and so without hearing disgusting words about me I could finally start to love myself. I established fruitful and supportive friendships, surrounded myself with positive people and good things and i had more time for myself that is, I could just sit in silence and reflect on life or whatever without getting distracted. I wasn't drowning in negativity any longer and the change of environments really healed me.

Again, I really can't be much of a help, but if your relationships with your family members are already great and there are no big issues and everything is stable and healthy, then after moving out, you should call them and just chat with them, maybe you should meet up with them if you're not far away from them

Grounding/earthing works wonders for molecular inflammation, the cause behind so much. We don't realize the effects of the highly charged environments we're in, how it can effect underlying conditions, and how little we get outside and touch the earth - the most free radical reducing biggest antioxidant on the planet, Is the planet! I wouldn't have believed it myself. Or rather I would've guess how crucial the outdoors are for health. Finding out my daughter who suffered a traumatic brain injury is EHS (electromagnetic hypersensitive) and trying to help her led me to find out where my symptoms were coming from, and my other daughters. If feeling bad, have stress anxiety or fatigue, or migrain coming on, I run outside and ground at least 5 mins, sometimes more depending. Evem just a minute or two helps sometimes. After coming in from walking around in the yard for bit, within 15 minutes my whole mood will change. I puchased grounding mats, gave up the many wireless devices like echos, speakers, smart bulbs & plugs etc... disabled unnecessary signals and set strength to low on one in the online dashboard of the modem /router (by defaut there are 3 signals set to full strength, complete overkill), plus turn it off regularly for breaks. This may not be necessary for everyone. Grounding helps everything, and may be all you need to do. I had to super "uncharge" our atmosphere, and no longer heart palpations, weird leg pains, sleep issues and horrible depression like I did before. So I'm sharing just in case it may help someone. But like I said just grounding alone can change your life and even help serious conditions. Their are people that take it seriously and have cured themselves of many things. If you have pain, and realize you don't get out and touch the ground enough, it could help you tremendously. We always hear nature is healing but we just don't give it the credit it deserves. We go from our indoor residence to our car, to work and the store, usually walking on paved surfaces plus wearing shoes that block the magnetic energy of the ground. We do this day in and day out. Add to that all of the polarized artificial manmade interference frequency pollution we're drowning in, and there is no way we won't be affected by it over time. The more you're exposed to it without reducing free radical accumulation, the more sensitive you become. Those who live in highly condensed areas and in apartments will be exposed to all of the neighbors signals too. The good news is the more you get away from the exposure, the more you will become less sensitive to it. Children shouldn't be exposed hardly at all and definitely have to get away from it as they are still growing, their cells are still multiplying. Even spectrum disorders benefit from grounding. We all do! We've just forgotten. Here is the fascinating, informative, life changing, award winning documentary on the subject called "Earthing -The Movie" kzfaq.info/get/bejne/apqUl9eDlb6ohok.html Another tip : Don't forget, the body uses a minimum of a liter of water a day just in respiration alone much less everything else. Not replacing it will cause problems. Even worse is these highly charged environments we're exposed to these days are also very dehydrating. Enough good clean spring water daily is crucial for wellbeing and to avoid exacerbating underlying conditions.

Labelling someone a narcissist on so little information is a reckless thing to do. The OP just mentionned a bad ENVIRONNEMENT. Maybe the dad is a narcissist... or maybe he was gutted so hard in the divorce court (as men usually are, because the divorce court heavily favors women... and I'm a woman saying that) that he doesn't have any money left to afford a nice place, nice things, and the nice acquaintances that go with it, while the mom can, on the divorce money? Just food for thought... (But maybe he IS a narcissist, what do I know 🤷‍♀️)
@kibbecapsule7571

@Petra I am familiar with C-PTSD, I spent a lot of of time researching it to sort out my own family history. Nothing in the description of the OP is a clear indication that the dad is a narcissist. Maybe he is... maybe not. A lot of people throw the term of narcissist around very carelessly, without thinking about the consequences of putting this label on people who don't deserve it. You can suggest that maybe it could be narcissism, you can not affirm that it is. And judging by your first commentary, do you make room for the possibility that you might be projecting your own family history on the OP because it reminds you of certain elements of your past? Beware of projection, it can cause a lot of damage. But then, maybe the OP's dad is a narcissist. The point is that, on OP's description alone, it is impossible to tell, there could be other explanations...

I'm bagging my summer clothes in vacuum bags, I don't have room for them in the new small closet, then they will go back up to the shop. It's a process, but after living the last 13 years in ONE HOUSE and having our 3 kids grow up and move out (and leave things behind) our house was big and cluttered. It's been a good move all in all.

When our flatmate moved out, my partner and I decided to move all our stuff into her empty bedroom to start fresh. Having a clean blank room to start from meant I didn't bring a single thing in without thinking it through. I dumped all the drawers out, moved the dresser in, moved the empty drawers in, then put only certain items in the drawers. It's starting to slide back again a bit now, but when overwhelmed I still find it easier to remove everything first, then decide what to put back.

I absolutely hate cleaning and organising I found that I have no “homeless items” in my house, everything has a place, and if I can’t find a place for it, it goes! As well as that I call all the other tips in this video “mothering myself”, I set up my clothes I need for the next day, I prepare meals, I make my life easier for my future self! It’s early days trying to perfect these tactics after giving in to my ADHD and depression for a long time and just being frustrated at everyday tasks! But it has already improved my life so exponentially!

I grew up with a hoarding mom in a really messy house. We were both horribly depressed. When I moved out on my own, I realized just how much it affected me and focused on keeping a tidy and cohesive space. My husband and I have moved into my grandparents house, which unfortunately has 2-3 generations of clutter, unfinished projects, and just...stuff. It's certainly taking its toll.

Have you considered an estate sale? Vendors usually can help you sort and sell and just take a commission on what the profits made…. Might thin out some of it and make it a little easier and you have extra cash instead of extra stuff.

@jenniferbreininger6015 Well, my grandmother is still alive (she's 86) and living in the home with us. I've had conversations about her will and what to do with her things but a lot of it falls on my mom and her siblings who are reluctant to claim anything or sentimental to the point that change creates conflict. I think I'll mention the estate sale when the time is right. Thanks for your suggestion

This is exactly why i keep my room so nice and bright and exactly how I want it. My friends will poke fun saying im a clean freak/perfectionist but at the same time they also envy how beautifully kept my room is. Most common compliment I get is that its like an ethereal fairy land. The way I see it, if im spending most of my time in my room, I want it to be a the most calming, peaceful, enjoyable place for me to be. Same will go for when I get my own place aswell. I know some people who have their own place now but they keep is so messy and their energy is always chaotic and they seem stressed almost 24/7.. it makes me wonder, how can they live like this? I know that my channel is way more low quality and not even close to other KZfaqrs' success out there but really, I realized that the main reason for doing this is not about the success but the inspiration I've been providing some people with my stories and experiences. Whoever you are, I don't know you personally but I can say based on what you said, I can say that you're one of the non-judgmental and open-minded people who is not fixated on tangible or external factors in order to learn from someone like me. Just because someone doesn't have a piece of paper as a credential, doesn't mean that person is not entitled to share personal experiences with the hope & intention to inspire others. Keep up with whatever it is that you're doing to improve mankind or improving your life even to a slight degree each day. I was unhappy when my mum died and I moved to a different country and felt like I needed something outside myself I absolutely had to look after and be responsible for, to get me out of bed and moving every day. So I got a cat. I had her seven years and just looking after her needs every day helped me completely calm and reorganise my life. So, when she died I was really lost and felt like crashing again. So I got three more. Problem solved. Get something to care for that isn't yourself, something totally dependent on you getting your act together at least minimally every day, preferably something that has to be done at least a couple of times a day (feeding). Get a pet. Pets need you and looking after them forces you to regularise your life and create at least a rudimentary routine. Also, cuddling a pet basically eliminates cortisol.

I loved that. I love that my environment is my life's "dream-came-true!" I am nesting in my bed next to a 5' x 6' picture window overlooking a massive North Atlantic bay, surrounded by mountains, hills, ever-changing light and across a one-lane road from my house's stone -walled garden, living my best life, accepting this is my best version of myself, because it allows for all that I am navigating, digesting, and invoking through prayer, walking my songs, and listening. I woke to my girl-dog growling a new growl. Well, it was the first time since 27 October 2023 that we have seen a massive girl-deer nibbling grass in our field, above our back yard. There she was. Clear, big, calm, oh, a little shake, brown fur rolling, twisting this way and then the other way, and back to nibbling. The sound of grass being nibbled is the only noise. OK, add: dog licking, cleaning, yawning. Thank you, Tarkina. A few passing cars is nice, as we live in a village of 9, and I have yet to meet anyone while walking my dog, and I walk my dog every day. We walk around the bay, to the loch, up the creek, a 1/4-mile to The Glen, over the heather and bracken moors, up the mountains, over the rocks, a mile along the one-lane road, with Passing Lanes, to Cliff Beach, and we drive to stone circles, or to walk barefoot on the sand, but we always listen. I always sing my songs. My dog always sniffs, and smiles at me, and she always sits when a car passes. I am grateful that after decades of doing what you share in this video, my life is easeful, smooth, jaggedy in moments, and that's when I take action, trust myself, and ask for help, as needed. I am here. Life is beautiful in Uig, Isle of Lewis, Outer Hebrides, Scotland. We moved here knowing no one, from Maui, Hawaii, after 15 years in a stolen Kingdom. I moved here to heal my Scottish, Irish roots, and bring the power of Celtic Mysticism Healing and Regenerative Farming Community Design to the wet desert of Scotland, that is still suffering under the grinding Spiritual poverty that grows from The Inquisition, The Scottish Highland Clearances, and the Wars' painful degenerative trauma. I pray for all life to know love, freedom and truth. Thank you for your creative video here. I loved it. Aloha, Claire

Yes. Slowly redecorating my bedroom and bathroom spaces over the last few years have done this for me. Environment matters. Like, I heard someone call the bathroom the staging area for your day: you're getting ready in there, and the state of the room can really set your day's direction. I gave mine a theme and colors that still make me smile, and I'm intentional about keeping it clean and clutter free. It makes a difference. 👍

It is interesting how many of these things I started using when I was very young. My childhood was chaotic, loud, and more. I was always creating small sanctuaries in every place we lived or finding them outside. In college I kept a very neat tiny apartment. My stuff might be thrifted, gifted, found, and repaired but it was taken care of. Also always had a dog. Addiction was common in my family so I refused pain medication prescriptions, kept booze out of the house and didn't go to bars. Even now I chose a house that was semi rural so I have trees and wildlife, but also convenient to several towns for ethic grocers, museums, etc. Now I am making endless small improvements on my house for our family. I definitely agree solving a issue, even a small one, is very rewarding.

This came at a perfect time for me. You have no idea. I have made so many life improvements in the last year. But lately I have been facing needing to make a ton more, feeling like I have laid the foundation for that and could... but simultaneously also feeling like I'm still that guy who can't. Like I'm a rubber band, that's still anchored there somehow. And it's been baffling and frustrating, like why don't I see myself as being capable, even though when I start to journal it, I do actually partially think I can do it? The usual internal hangups were not seeming to be at the core of the block this time, and I've been flummoxed about what else it could be. But I saw this, and I watched it because it is you (and many of your vids have given me answers that I didn't know I needed and made so much progress from that). So anyways, I watched it, then I looked around and I went omg.. because MYSELF has changed so much... but my environment is still the same as how it was a year ago, (well, really longer let's be real here), but it's still the same as when I DIDN'T have anything together, didn't have hope, didn't know how to make goals, felt trapped and stuck and overwhelmed and failing. So MYSELF has tools now, and habits, and more confidence. But my environment? Still piles of failed decisions, interrupted and procrastinated plans, chaos and dysfunction. So while your video was playing, I started clearing out two drawers in my desk. I use the desk constantly. The drawers had random stuff that didn't serve a purpose. Now one is empty, a few old projects that were in them are dismantled and put away, one of them is refilled with a few things that are actually useful to have within reach at my desk and those tools now are not taking up clutter space on top of it... and I just feel excited and energised. Barely made a dent but it still made me feel awesome. In fact, I then went out and did an errand I had been delaying, made a plan for tomorrow, and cleaned something in the kitchen that I never found the time to do. It's like even that small amount of updating my environment gave me this huge boost of energy and motivation. It was amazing, and I am going to do even more of this. There is a lot to do, but it's what I needed, and it already is making such a big difference. I cannot wait to see how far I can go with this. Thank you so much, and I just hope you have a fantastic day today!

Environment is also not only about the objects, but about the people surrounding you too. I see the effect people from different groups have on me and when I spend time with said people I see their habits in my own reflection. It makes me chose people I surround myself with very carefully. Besides that, yeah, where I live and how I decorate that space has an enormous impact on me too. I put out my clothes for the next day every evening and it makes getting up in the morning a lot easier. It’s become a habit, just as I have one for going to sleep. Helps my brain turn off. :)

I've watched so many self improvement videos but you talking about growing up from a drug using kid to who you are now nearly made me tear up because I currently am that drug using 19 year old. I've chilled out on them lately, but I notice when I'm staying in a room that isn't what I'm use to, I crave drugs a lot more, spiral; and completely forget about what I want or need to get done. Just being in a familiar room or place makes your goals stick more because you associate the whole area with your identity. I plan on getting a house soon, but for now don't have much control over where I am so this is super helpful. Definitely going to come back to the video.

Before, I used to live in Miami being around street violence, guns, death, and I even used to eat $3 a day, 25 cents noodles, expired toast and canned campbell tomato soup when I lived in LA. I survived the Boston Marathon Bombing which was a few feet away and I saw all the blood the people screaming and I was alone at 18. I also used to live in a room with no kitchen, trash bag as a window and bugs crawling on me at night. I also took boxing to protect myself and learned how to defend against bigger threats. I ended up moving to a cabin in the north of Sweden where I go down to a lake to breathe and heal my past and I post on KZfaq to help others who need it the most.

This is something I really notice and struggle with the older I get. There's an immediate change in my mood when my environment is decluttered and reasonable structured - but doing that requires constant maintenance similar to working out and frankly money to afford the furnishings to structure your environment. So more time demands, after working a 8 + 1 (lunch) hour day + a 45 minute commute on either side plus all the other things adults have to do, let alone if you have kids. So in the 5ish "free" hours you have a day provided you're not just exhausted all the time or working overtime, you're basically a robot running constant maintenance on yourself and your environment. It's truly daunting. And god forbid you ever get sick or have a chronic ailment or anything like that.

Creating a positive healthy space is so important. I'm glad I've realized that and I consciously strive to make my surroundings better. I moved from an apartment on a busy street to a quiet neighborhood with a park like setting. The morning sun fills my bedroom and living room. The afternoon sun lights my kitchen and back deck. There are trails near me for walking and biking. I am remodeling and I am making everything more convenient and appealing as I go. Before I relax for the evening, I declutter my living space from the day's activities. Life is good. Some homes or public buildings you walk into are chaos and you feel a certain level of stress just from your surroundings. I'm very sensitive to my surroundings and how they make me feel. Making these changes might cost a bit more but some cost nothing at all and just require some thought. Getting rid of clutter is free. A new coat of paint doesn't cost much if you do it yourself. A few nice things on the wall instead of large blank spaces doesn't have to cost a lot. A different furniture arrangement can make a room feel better.

Once in my mid-20s I was going through an extremely difficult time. One weekend morning I was lying on the dirty carpet floor of my apartment in overwhelm and misery and suddenly found myself looking around at my surroundings - all the dirty dishes in the sink, and piled on counters, the dirty bathroom, the lack of clean clothing, and had a moment of clarity. "I'm making myself feel worse with all this," I thought, "I feel bad but I don't have to feel THIS bad." I had zero energy that day but I thought, "I can do ONE thing. Then I'll stop." I cleared the counters and washed some of the dishes. Then I went back to the carpet and lay down for a while. Then I thought, "I could do another thing..." and cleaned the bathroom. In this way, laying down on the carpet between tasks, and riding that good feeling from improving something and from my space being less stressful as a result, I made my apartment clean and uncluttered before the end of the afternoon. I was young-person poor, too, had never ordered food before, (and hated phone calls), but I called a local delivery place and ordered pizza and pop (I was hungry, but I hadn't eaten that day) for supper. And ate that pizza the rest of the weekend, LOL. Life still sucked but it made a huge difference, the change in my environment and instinct toward self-care. (For background, this was not normal for me - I have strong "keep going until you collapse while forgetting you need rest and food and fun and stuff" tendencies.) I never forgot that weekend or what I learned from it: 1. Exactly what you said - your environment impacts you (OK, it's bad, does it have to be this bad?) 2. You don't have to fix it all at once. Even one tiny thing makes a difference. 3. You can stop and do something nice just to make yourself feel better.

My ideal version of myself's environment is too expensive to recreate 😂. I see myself sitting at an all white grand piano in a minimally decorated room with some really nice big plants and a lot of natural light coming in. With a black cat sitting on my lap listening to me play the piano. Away from traffic, all I hear is birds outside and a stream of water.

I learned this first hand. I lived in a shit hole house with my partners ex and everything was so triggering for me. Everything from her ex's assault on her and that whole process, the house literally falling apart and being impossible to clean, to my roommate letting her cat piss anywhere in the house. Everything about that place made want to run away. I repeatedly tried to and did for a minute break up with my partner, almost moving back in with my abusive parents. But last month we moved to a new spot that's small and new and clean and on a pond!! My brain is 30x happier now and I finally have a home for the first time in years and years

So true. I had been struggling with my energy levels, an injury, and really bad insomnia for months, so I got a low dose anti-anxiety med from my doctor and recently thought about finishing some decorating projects I let fall to the wayside. Nice to know I haven't totally given up on my apartment. This year I bought a houseplant, a pretty area rug, a new chair, a glitter canvas, a small statue, a dozen Christmas ornaments and a super cute T-Rex snow globe. Looking forward to setting everything up.

Apparently I've been applying this concept to a lot of my life already. It truly helps. I don't know how many times I've given up on trying to complete or even START something because there seemed to be too many obstacles in the way. Once I started pre-packing, pre-planning, etc. my life became easier to accomplish. Of course I still struggle with things sometimes, but it's certainly a step in the right direction.

Friction is executive function. As an autistic/ADHD person (only found out recently during lockdown while trying to recover from burnout) this can vary greatly from day to day. Have been trying to hack my environment for ages but struggle just to clean the dishes. Can't find a job that fits my needs despite looking for over a year. Would love to live rural as city is a stimuli nightmare. Even just going grocery shopping the fluorescence lights just hurt and drains. The sound of birds has also been shown to improve moods.

Sounds and music truly affect our moods. I recently made it easier for me to turn on youtube. No struggles with audio cables and having to turn on several devices to get to that point. Now when I get home, I turn on the sounds that help me get into the desired mindspace. Music can be distracting too, but some upbeat music helps me get up and get things done, whereas bird sounds are simply calming. Have you tried turning up some bird sounds on KZfaq and immerse your home a bit with that playing in the background? You're in control!

This is one of the reasons I am considering leaving NYC. Very small living spaces are hard to live in without clutter building up and the walls feel like they’re closing in. Ask anyone who has lived in the city where the number of feet between the bed and the fridge is single digits, with no wall between, or where there’s no division between work area and sleep area. I could upgrade and spend EVEN MORE of my income on housing but at this point I’m wanting more space (in decent enough condition) than I could reasonably afford here while also saving something for the future.

The stuff I have accumulated around me over the years now owns me, rather than the other way around. Decluttering, cleaning and resetting the spaces around me - and, man oh man, it’s taking a long time, lots of baby steps and persistent effort - is beginning to change everything for the better. Definitely a marathon, not a sprint: I’m trying to rewire my thinking after over forty years of accrued habit formation and unconscious acquiescence to living a disordered life. Thanks for this inspirational, informative and supportive vid.

I finally have an answer to how I’m addicted to cigarettes when I drink alcohol, but never once have an urge to smoke when I’m not drinking. I drank every weekend for many years straight, and almost chain smoked the entire time, then nothing during the week. If I took a month or 2 or 3 off from drinking, same thing. No matter the frequency of my drinking, I’m hooked on nicotine when I drink but never once when I’m sober, over 15 + years. Perhaps I’m not actually addicted when I drink, maybe it’s some kind of behavioral thing. Either way, nicotine, just like heroine in the example given in this video, isn’t as addictive as most people believe! I think it’s an environment thing with the nicotine just as it was with the heroine for those soldiers. Except I can chain smoke for 3 straight days, many many weekends in a row, then not have ONE SINGLE urge to ever smoke when I’m not drinking. This must say something about the mechanism and addictive nature of nicotine or similar substances

Another fantastic video - and very ADHD-friendly too. I turn 39 next month and was diagnosed with inattentive sub type earlier this year. My meds help greatly, in that they fill the 'fuel tank' of my brain, but I still have to figure out the best way to 'drive the car' and get where I need to go. So at the age of 40, me n' my newly-functioning frontal lobe are taking baby steps towards Actual Adulthood! Environment design is so crucial for me because, even on meds, I have to consciously dismiss a lot of the things that neurotypical brains just automatically filter out. So everything I do in a day takes a bit more time and mental energy to do, from getting up and getting ready in the morning, to focusing on and completing complex tasks and projects. The way you explain 'mental friction' and how our environments contribute to or alleviate it is just spot on. Mental friction - and the time it costs us - is a compounding thing too, so it can very easily derail your day/week/life. Actual LOL @ the Atomic Habits klaxon 🤣 But you're right to link environment to habit - it's such an effective way to hack the brain's proclivity for automation. We basically create little 'templates' for ourselves and then ctrl-c, ctrl-v that shizz 😆 Anyway, thanks again for another great video - you honestly are my favourite creator on KZfaq; can't think of anyone else with such a genuinely original approach to self-improvement. 🙌🏻

I just finished Atomic Habits yesterday haha! I enjoy your take on it because it's easier for me to apply to my life if I have a real person example, so thank you for that. Also- I put my meals on a schedule to quit the food delivery/ fast food crutch. I'd wait so long to eat that I'd get irritable until food became urgent and panic inducing until I'd go to a drive thru or order doordash. Putting myself on an eating schedule meant I had to plan for lunches in the house between 12-2, so I rarely get panic around meals anymore. Environments and systems are really helping rn. Good luck to all those who are working on similar things because you can definitely do it!
