I have one I inherited from my father. It's from 1975. It was broken beyond recovery: I sent it to the German Zippo clinic (I live in Italy) and they fixed it for free (the shell) and replaced the inside with a brand new one. FOR FREE. This is really a great company that maintains its promises and takes care of customers. Congrats, Zippo

that last comment "through the good times and the bad" its so true, better than family or friends, i had my first zippo in 1991, when i was an apprentice mechanic, the snap on dealer, handed me my very first Zippo, the paint has all rubbed off, the hinge is loose, but 30 years later, the little guy is still going strong and still my edc.

I recently turned 50, and I just bought my first Zippo as an adult. It brings back a TON of memories! My Dad used to carry Zippo lighters back when he smoked, a long time ago. I used to love to hang around him and his friends when they would get together to play pinochle. The house would smell like tobacco, and liquor as men did manly things. I'm so glad that I grew up in a time when masculinity wasn't seen as a threat. That upbringing helped to make me the man that I am today. I will definitely buy him one for Fathers Day this year. I hope he likes it!

Collecting Zippos is a great hobby. Many collectible ones are STILL reasonable in price, and unlike vintage cars or even vintage radios, Collecting vintage lighters requires little space! AND, With Zippos, One from the '40s and one from TODAY use the same "consumables" (Flints,wicks,fuel...) So they are "cheap" to "keep on the road". Plus NEW collectibles are being made! - I'd recommend it as a hobby!👍😊👍

It's still just as strong as the day I got it. Even my grandpas that was from 1963 that he used everday to smoke when he was still around still lights up everytime and still has that zippo click. I love lighters, not sure why, I don't smoke, but, as a teenager I always had just a junk disposable one for my eyeliner when I got waxy or anything. I'm just now 50, so, that was LONG ago😬🙄 when I wore bunches of it🤦🏻‍♀️😊 but, I've always loved them. My husband, son and I were able to go on a track tour and after went to this awesome place full of nascar posters, cards, everything...and of course, lighters :) my husbands dream! But, then I saw this #3 Dale Earnhardt zippo, and needed it. We didn't have the money, but my hubby got it for me anyway🥰 That was probably 5yrs ago. Since I don't smoke, I think I must have let it dry out, then I'd over fill it and got fuel all in my purse and was frustrated that I couldn't carry it with me. But obviously I was doing everything wrong. I've been stuck at home, unable to doing much of anything, after a surgeon messed up and now I will never have full use of arms, but worse, he paralyzed half of my diaphragm and that crushed my lung. Recently found out it's permanent. So... trying to learn a new way to live. So, finding different projects to keep me positive instead of sinking deeper into this black pit in my brain;) so, I've been watching videos about my zippo. Loss of jobs due to this and covid mean I can't buy more flint or wicks, yes, sounds dumb, but its no exaggeration, quite an understatment actually. So, hopefully my flint is good enough, not positive how to know if it's not. I assume just no spark? I've just today repacked it, doing the s curve, hoping it would light easier, not yet. I'd love for it to light by barely flicking it like those I've seen others do, especially now that I have even more weakness, but I love the spark, flick, the flame staying on until that oh so lovely click closed :) My lid seems to be real wiggly, not sure why since I don't use it often and have kept it in a safe place since. I hope to use it more now. Hopefully it will light better... with these hands I definitely can't flick it 6 or more times for it to maybe light. I really really want to get a brass one, or a cheap or used regular one and sand down to the brass and force patina it. But, in dream world :) for now, I'm trying to learn about this one :)

🔥 Have got 5 myself and love each and every one of them, some are even unused and unboxed. Over the years, quality was maintained and let's face it: they're just adorable. Smoking or non smoking, get a Zippo! The perfect gift too! Oldest I have is a gift from a dear friend of mine, and the Zippo belonged to her late father; it was immaculate but over the years the stamped Statue of Liberty weared off and ended up being a classical nickeled Zippo by the looks. Not too old of a Zippo, a 1995 series, she gifted it to me as a bday present and I used it till the hinge broke. Local representative for the warranty ain't very nice to answer questions and I don't feel the trust to send it to repair to them. I love that Zippo and I wish some day I can get it fixed again. I wonder if I could get it fixed if I send it to Zippo US (which is grossly expensive), but perhaps I'll do it as a last alternative.

I'm not a smoker, nor do I use a lighter most of the time but I do enjoy supporting a great product. I tend to carry a light with me in a small "EDC" pouch where I carry small things that I may need in certain occasions. I had a disposable BIC lighter to which I lost whenever I lent it to someone and never got it back. I figured that if I where to invest on something that is well built and well respected that hopefully the next person I lend my lighter to will think twice before forgetting to give it back. I decided to purchase a Zippo lighter because I tend to do arts-and-crafts like paracord bracelets and occasional birthday candles for family gatherings. I enjoy supporting a product that is made to last and has great manufacturer support unlike most things I own today. It's also inexpensive which is great for anyone whom wishes to purchase a light that will withstand the dawn of time.

A Zippo lighter is my "go to" example of a piece of "tech", a manufactured product that has been perfected There is no need to change or "update" the vital parts. It's THE example of "If It ain't broke, don't fix it." I have never had a REAL Zippo (There's lotsa fakes...) fail on me. The only reason I ever had to replace one was due to loss or theft. I have been smoking for more than 40 years. I have changed brands of cigs, NOT brands of lighter!
