I like the way the victims were humanized and centered around that these were not just victims but REAL people. Too many serial killer docs and shows are more like horror movies and then sensationalize the monsters who destroys peoples lives and happiness. This show was very well done. I am watching this now and my biggest problem is the makers of this are adding race into a lot of it. Race had very little to do with Dahmer’s crimes. If anything he preferred black or darker skinned men. Is not because he was racist. And the police ignored a lot of it not because it was crimes against blacks but that it involved homosexuals. Tired of trying to find racial problems when they are not there.

Tony was already dead. The relationship was entirely in Dahmer's mind as the corpse lay there... that's what that final scene in 'Silenced' represented. How sick and twisted he was to imagine an entire relationship with a corpse. It also gave us a chance to get to know one of the victims, their hopes and dreams and how loved they were, and how horrifically impacted the families were - rather than graphically focusing on the gore itself, which was brilliant writing.
@KP_Gem
@KP_Gem Жыл бұрын
@@ember-brandt no, he didn't imagine their whole relationship.. most of that really happened. Obviously some of it was dramatized for Hollywood, but Tony and Jeffery really did know each other and were friends for a few months. Thanks for sharing, I just finished this series and I was also rather curious about the accuracy of this portrayal, particularly the parents account of a psychological change after a hernia operation? I just got to wondering if perhaps this has caused some kind of deep trauma, or if perhaps he suffered anaesthesia awareness, or even an out-of-body experience during surgery - you know morbid fascination with shiny flesh etc.. I've heard out-of-body experiences are often (although not exactly sexual) associated with feelings of bliss and ecstasy. So that's my little pet theory, based on this series: Dahmer has hernia surgery as a child, has some form of trauma, perhaps waking during surgery or an out-of-body experience, perhaps floats above his body and sees his chest cavity open, perhaps also (unfortunately) feels a higher level of ecstasy during said experience, subsequently buries said experience deep in the subconscious, which later resurfaces on some level while dissecting road-kill with his Dad. Having said all that, I'm 100% pro capital punishment for dangerous, unremorseful proven killers - with mercy for accidents and some provoked crimes of passion. Overall, I'm just sick of all the violence really, it's 1 simple rule absolutely none of us seem to be able to follow; same as it always was, expertly put by Jesus; "Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you".

Emmy nominations for Evan Peters and the actress who played the next door neighbor. It was more than a resemblance for Peters. He jumped off the screen. Its easy to overplay a part with Dahmer's gravity but Peters portrayed the man's fractured vulnerability with a compelling accuracy. The writing was tight bringing to mind writer Abby Mann who treated subjects like that especially with the Teddy Harper character played by Marjoe Gordner in the film "The Marcus Nelson Murders" back in 73. Its the best Dahmer treatment so far.

Actually the “Glenda Cleveland” parts aren’t that accurate. Yes she called the police on Dahmer and checked the status of the 14y/o boy but that’s about it. She wasn’t even the one who interacted with the police and Dahmer about him, It was her niece and daughter. She never lived next to Dahmer, she lived in another building. She was never offered a sandwich that was another lady down the hall(and a few others in his building 🤢) Her guilt of not being able to save that little boy(and stop Dahmer) is VERY REAL. She's defending the ex-inlaw cop saying the media over sensationalized everything. She has no sympathy for the families nor the victims. So sad. It's so sad to watch the series but I grew up in the area and the movie was somewhat accurate. It's scary to learn how "gentle" he was. He got away with a lot (cops let him go even when he had a body in his car) because of how he looked and how "gentle" and calm he was. Creepy. Show less

The drinking from the bag is less of an embellishment or dramatization and more of a critical thought. Do we really believe this man only drank blood from a single vile…. I find it more believable that he did what he did in the show.

Given the real drama involved in this case, I am not surprised there needs no embellishment. How could you make this story any more dramatic anyway? Not sure there is a way to do that in this case.

The show isn't really accurate. Glenda Cleveland didn't even live in the same building as Jeffrey Dahmer. People never heard screams from his apartment because he subdued his victims, his neighbours (including his black neighbours) actually liked Dahmer. They didn't think he was creepy and his next-door neighbour Pamela Bass actually cried when Dahmer was killed. She thought he was very polite, etc. She didn't think he was creepy and she ate his sandwiches which made her think she probably consumed human flesh. Jeffrey Dahmer never killed the new guy that moved into the apartment building. That character didn't exist. Dahmer was also never evicted. He never targeted his victims because they were black.

I Finally watched the whole thing. I didnt really pay much attention or feel they were showing a Dahmer "soft side". I felt it they least gave of some back story of these Victims as there is really no Memorial for them. I was 12 when this happened and remember it slightly these days. I have had family murdered and sadly people have forgotten these people. Was it proper thing to do since other Dahmer shows out there NO...But these people have no plaque, memorial stone or nothing to remember them. IT was sad what happened but people want to shouldnt forget.

The thing about this show is that people aren't looking for accuracy in the person of who Dahmer was because this show wasn't truly about that. It was about being in the moment with the victims and the people still alive that had to deal with the repercussions of his actions. The injustice and inadequate police department that let him walk. Racism and everything above. That's what made this show so compelling. A long with the amazing acting and cinematography.

The Konerak part is also inaccurate. Konerak was found by 2 or 3 women wandering around naked on the street (not on the apartment hall). Story about Konerak is more accurate in Dahmer (Jeremy Renner's version).

I want to know if those police officers actually got awarded ‘officer of the year’ at that ceremony. (And the instance of those cops harassing the Asian man over the phone) When I saw that I thought “no way in hell they actually did that”, plus I heard some news clip from years after the fact that their negligence cost them their jobs. So by all means I’ll happily eat my words if it is true, BUT if that was something they just threw in to intentionally embellish how horrible and disgusting the police already were, I would find that disgusting as well because this is marketed as an accurate retelling of events. So if someone can actually confirm they didn’t make that part up I’d be very interested to know.

There’s a lot of little details that have been wrong. I’ve been shouting them at the TV as I see them. Completely normal, I know. Much of it is accurate. It is absolutely eerie how much Evan Peters nails it….from the spot on voice, the walk…right down to the mannerisms. It’s like the real Dahmer. Almost spooky.

Even Peters deserves all the kudos for portraying this sick individual, in the most believable way possible! I almost had to turn it off a couple times, but I couldn't!! The ending was a little sappy considering the deserved brutality of his own death....but Hollywood has a way of doing that. "Bless all the victims and their families"!

I also heard that Tony was a victim like any other one, Jeff met him and murdered him in the same night... If that's true...kinda effed up to portray their relationship like that. I really enjoyed tony's character and that whole arc. I didn't know if Jeff killed Tony beforehand so I was rooting for him not to give in to his impulses and let Tony go... Could somebody confirm this, please? I also seen Tracy testimony against Jeff and the show portrayed it kinda badly too...it wasn't as bad as Tony's depiction but Tracy said himself he wasn't gay, he was just really interested in the money. Which I think makes it more tragic.

There's a lot of inaccuracies lmao. He wasn't very regretful, Glenda wasn't his neighbor, cops were never called about the smell or noises, the first kill was more malicious in real life, and many more. Dahmer is not a case of institutional failure on the part of his upbringing - he was crazy from the start.
