19:24 "He really, need to beat the Rock" Here, WWE can build parallels of Cena, with Stone Cold Steve Austin: Back in 2001, Austin felt he was no longer número uno, so he needed to beat the Rock, and that lead to him turn to the dark side! So, will Cena give in to that path, or he's gonna separate his legacy by resisting the change. Personally, I go with resisting the change, but get a new, tweener attitude for Cena, so that Wyatt can finally finish what Kane started: Make Cena Embrace the Hate! Fantástico booking, Adam

Honestly, _anything_ would have been better than what happened in real life. Embrace the Hate wasn't as abysmal as, say, Katie Vick, but it was still a monumental failure on every single level: it had no effect on Cena whatsoever, made Kane look impotent, damaged Eve Torres with pointless and really tasteless slut-shaming, and _absolutely ruined_ Zack Ryder. It was so bad it was as if the entire intention of the feud from the start was just to punish Zack for his hubris in daring to get himself over, and the whole incorporation of Cena into it was nothing more than a smokescreen to hide that.

That storyline would be great IF the crowd reacts how you want them to. One thing to remember is that the marks were loud in their booing, but there were a lot of people who cheered for him too (i.e. kids). I’m curious what your plan B would be if the crowd started to support him (or at least enough cheer him to make the boos seem less dominant).
@NateLeonhart3 жыл бұрын
Another thing. We know how flip-flop the marks are. The moment they have Cena show any sign of turning heel, they're gonna start cheering him immediately.
@nybxcrotona3 жыл бұрын
I'd say have Cena focus on any boos, to the point of paranoia. His literal chant was "Let's go Cena; Cena sucks". Have him hyperfocus on anybody that boos him and use that as an excuse for distraction.
@HHHBFResurrected3 жыл бұрын
In Cena's case I don't think that would be a problem, though I see where you're coming from. The Cena hating was a life force in of itself by that point, like the 'You Suck' chants for Kurt Angle, teasing a proper heel turn wouldn't have stopped it. The bit of this booking that would've got an interesting reaction (IMO) was the moment where he outright said he hates the fans - I'm inclined to say heavy booing with a faint but pronounced hint of cheering. LOL
@Lunacorva3 жыл бұрын
@@NateLeonhart Not necessarily. For example, while Roman gets a lot of praise out of character for his Heel persona, the fans at WM 37 still booed him loudly because they were invested in his story and in booing him as the villain. The narrative of "fans are fickle" is one of the WWE's tools of gaslighting where they take a popular wrestler they fucked up with and then blame the fans by pretending that the fans turned on the wrestler for no reason, when often it's more complicated than that and comes down to the WWE fundamentally misunderstanding what made them popular to begin with.

I like the angle on WM28 with a pass on the chair shot. I feel like it's great ring psychology when a flyer works heel by teasing and denying a big dive because pleasing the fans isn't worth it. I would love the story of Cena doing the same with a chair because the fans want him to turn, but he knows it's wrong and he won't appease their wrong desires, even when it costs him. That's delightfully layered

Unlike Adam I would actually like to see this babyface version of Cena or more accurately the tweener version of Cena. Who no longer believes in the fans but still is a genuine babyface fighting for himself or other he consider allies. That is more interesting than any heel turn could ever provide a babyface in disbelief that's interesting.

You know. You're right, and one of the fundamental missteps of the WWE for the last few years is they mistake turns for character development. Shifting someone into a completely different person rather than growing and expanding the person they are in an organic fashion.
