@@snakegriffin4928 there's plenty of videos of people taking their own sailboat to antarctica..some with permission..some never mentioned... Unless you go to the areas frequented by ships in the antarctic summer at one of the dozens of various govt bases and don't need help they would never know you are there. The thing is there is no fuel, food, facilities, or help down there in Amy practical sense...and people that own boats capable of surviving the trip don't tend to want to endanger their vessel by taking such a trip...but very doubtful anyone more than check on you via radio if they see you. Icebergs make radar contacts indistinguishable and the Southern Oceans a bloody big place and too dangerous for all but purpose driven vessel traffic. Ships in the southern ocean are too concerned staying afloat to "police" the area..

It’s actually easier for planes to fly in Antarctica than in normal conditions (given there isn’t a blizzard), and here’s why. 1. Air pressure in Antarctica is denser due to the cold air, allowing more lift for less fuel. 2. It’s so cold that water can’t freeze on the plane. So as long as nothing melts on it, nothing can freeze on it. 3. Antarctica is a desert. It lacks humidity. So the air is easier to fly through due to no water latching on the flight surfaces. less drag. This is another reason why icing won’t happen easily. So denser air and lack of humidity is perfect for flight. But blizzards are a death trap. Unless you’re flying a C-130, then it’s not much of a problem.

@trouty7947

The difficulty is the lack of ground support, rescue and the extremely hazardous environment. If you crash land In the Antarctic you can freeze to death in minutes outside.

Good question. Also, to reach the other side of Antarctica one has to fly not across the South Pole but across the North Pole, called the Great Diametric Route. Makes perfect sense and could explain why Icelandic Air has service there as shown. BTW I hear Occam's Razor doesn't work in Flatland.
