I'm just glad I'm not the only one with sharpie marks on my level. Very informative with angle iron frame. That would do a much better job of keeping everything in line.

It is satisfying to pitch the bracing as you move along in the project

My son laughs at me for wearing the same hard hat system you are using. He laughs because i use the system when i am mowing the lawn with a riding mower. The ear protection is for the engine noise and the face shield is for the wind blown dust and grass clippings. The hard hat keeps ear muffs and face shield together. I do like the face shield being a screen instead of a scratched plastic. The screen also doesn’t glare like plastic will.

That is one of the things I hate about mowing when it’s dry and dusty. You turn around only to get a face full of dust and grass!

I'm amazed how easy you are drilling and sawing those old logs. i would have expected them to be as hard as iron!

As a carpenter who has enjoyed your blacksmithing work immensely, I am loving these cabin videos! I've watched the progress slowly for years on your personal channel. Glad to see them being posted here. Also a question, John. Did you forge that rigging axe?

No, its a Plumb axe

Coming along well, I liked the last bit when you tossed the board out and had to lean out an look. I am betting just as you tossed it you weren't totally sure the camera would not be hit lol.

Would there be any disadvantages to running say 4" structural wood screws through the buck and into the log ends?

Very nice John. What kind of blade did you use on your skill saw for cutting the metal? Thanks. We're building a bunkhouse this fall, it's new construction so it won't have the rustic character your old cabin does but I'm planning to forge a lot of the hardware to try to give it some character so I'll be checking out a lot of your forging videos on that. Thanks again!

Its a carbide tooth metal cutting blade and the saw is a dedicated metal cutting saw I bought to break down 20 foot sticks of material so they fit on the rack. acmetools.pxf.io/3eE7QB
