AMD has a killer strategy. AM5 for higher end builds, AM4 for lower end builds and then these AM4 chips for the people wanting to upgrade budget builds without switching sockets. And when AM6 launches, AM5 will become the new AM4.It's their masterplan.

Once upon a time, Intel was the undisputed king of CPUs by a WIDE margin. AMD took over the multicore market, and now they've caught up to them in the CPU side. Now, if AMD would work on their GPU-side for pricing they might start taking some market share from Nvidia.

Intel’s still in business mostly because of workspaces preferring to buy workstations with Intel CPUs in them
@Rullino32Ай бұрын
Intel has a great reputation, many prebuilds come with their CPUs, many workstations and servers use their products and the youtubers sponsor them, even after about 7 years of success and innovation in the CPUs market, AMD is still considered by many a "dirty budget option" or "the Mediatek of computers", which mostly derives from their past products, especially the FX lineup, or at least that's what I've heard from some people, mostly online. If I were to buy a future PC, I'll go with AMD since they have great value, great iGPU for laptops and I would prefer to avoid Intel considering the controversies in both politics and technology, but I'd prefer to keep the former out of this conversation.

Yeah, I was wanting a 5900x3D, myself, because I already have a 5900x and I'm spoiled by 12c/24t lol. A 5950x3D built like AM5 would be perfect, imo... Half 3D cache and half "regular" cache. I mean, everyone loves how well 3D cache performs in games but I'm not too fond of losing a good chunk of performance everywhere else. I also find it weird how the 5800XT stays 8c/16t (like the 5800x) but the 5900XT goes to 16c/32t. Seems fake unless they have even more AM4 CPUs planned and somehow that is what they had to do to make their naming scheme work.

I don't have Hogwarts, but that is one game that seems to benefit from DDR5, so I may not get the results everywhere that I imagine. @PineyJusticeАй бұрын
Firstly, unless it's under 400$ the 7800xt is better in every single way, future technologies may not come to the 6800xt that do come to the 7800xt (AI based FSR) in addition AV1 is becoming more important and the 7800xt uses about 20-30% less power, even if they report about the same reporting was changed between generations and 6000 series reports about 20% low. The 7600 is a decent choice, but you can get a 7700 for like 20 bucks more. It's hard to recommend a 6 core cpu nowdays as more and more things support 8 cores, zen 4 prices will probably drop a good bit in about a month when zen 5 launches.
@gonozal8_96228 күн бұрын
I have the 6800 and it works great, although I‘m bottlenecked by periperals and a i7 6700K (will switch to AM5 when I have the money). the 6800XT is better than that, and kinda similar in performance to the 7800XT, although the 7800XT has AI upscaling potential for when AI upscaled FSR releases. if that’s significantly more expensive for you, though, the 6800XT is great/better value. considering how the 7800XT has better price/performance than the 7900XTX and the 6800XT is almost the same, you will get between 70% and 80% of the XTX performance, except for the unlikely case that the 24GB VRAM of the XTX are used, which like only happens in 4k native ultra, possibly with raytracing, of the most demanding games team red, let’s go!
