Looking for old newspapers for family history research or historical research? The smaller community papers often have the best information on its residents but how do you find them? Instagram: ancestrybyaimee Facebook: @aimeecross2 #familyhistory #genealogy #newspapers
How do you know what papers were produced in an area at a particular time? Where do you find the papers that have survived time?
Good research practices involve thorough research and smaller newspapers are often missed. Sites like newspapers.com have lots of great papers and add more weekly, but many aren't aware of the Library of Congress' Chronicling America website which provides a database of newspapers which served a particular community or county. Not only does this database provide the names and information about the papers, but also has a listing of repositories which hold copies or microfilm of them.
