In this video, Austin will show you how, when, and why you should be layering vocals in a pop song. Vocal arrangement can make or break a record, and it's important to know when to utilize certain tools and elements, what you're trying to achieve with these methods, and how to execute them in a session. Austin also goes over some of his favorite tips and methods for producing vocals for artists remotely.

Hey Austin! First of all thank you so much for your videos, this one was another gem! I come from an acoustic Singer/Songwriter Background so mainly Guitar+Vocal Arrangements and I'm trying to get more into Pop music, since it really starts to resonate with me more. The thing is, these huge and dense arrangements are a bit overwhelming. I know, practice is king, but would it be possible to make a video with tips for people like me, coming from this acoustic background on how to flesh out our songs more and how to not get overwhelmed by the plethora of instruments/layers used in Pop songs? Thank you so much for all your efforts! :)

Austin, quick question... Firstly, thanks for putting this up, I do this type of work all the time, but the writing and color formatting you use is really helpful to speed up workflow. My question is, is the color coded key the same for each production? Or do you apply a unique one each time? Or maybe you have a template color key that's got more possibilities? I just ask, cause that question kept popping up in the back of my head while watching you explain things. I copied your color key to a google docs template, but kept asking myself what color to use for strict doubles? (i.e. lead vox and 1 dub) I kept looking at the blue and purple layers and wondering if those would apply in that case, or if you had another color designation in that scenario. Anyhow, Thanks again, sorry for the long winded question.
@MakePopMusic
@MakePopMusic 2 жыл бұрын
Feel free to use whatever color key works for your song! I will change mine if I have vocal parts that aren't in a typical vocal production. Maybe if I need oohs and ahhs over a phrase I'll use a bright green highlight, or if I want gang vocals on a word I'll highlight it orange, etc. Feel free to lay out your vocal guide however you and the artist see fit!
