Our Amana washing machine only worked on the cold cycle. The hot cycle would fill up very slowly, then drain and stop. Replacing the inlet valve fixed the problem. Thank you! This worked great and your step by step instructions were perfect.

If you have rusty water, you can try cleaning the inlet valves out and reinstalling. I use lysol black toilet bowl cleaner get it inside and on the outside hookups (where the hoses hook to) rinse it all out, make sure the solenoid things are dry, and put it back in. I have to pull ours and clean it every couple months (it between then i have to switch hose sides) because it's completely orange and water flow is blocked. I so so so appreciate this video, because I was looking all over youtube and having a heck of a time. Your video was the clearest, easy to follow, just thank you so much! ❤️ I just had to pull it up again last night because I couldn't remember how to take the top part off, and then ended up cheating and using Allen key torx bits to get those screws off without taking the top panel off. It was a pain tho. Much easier doing it your way, I was being lazy. Lol

It does that on both the hot and cold. I knew it had to be the water intake valve, but your video showed me that I'm right. I will be ordering the part, and now I know how to install it. My son suggested this fix and we found your video....almost the exact same unit (different name). Went over to amazon, $42 dollars with tax for the part, popped it in and all is right with the world. Mine was the opposite. It wouldnt stop filling with water. I switched the hot and cold on the back and tried hot. It worked and that told me my cold side was faulty. Ill just use it on cold until i fix it

Hi, thanks for posting the video....I have an amana washer that has power but won't start, no water even fills. I believe this may be a possible issue, I will return to check and see if it is stuck in the sensing cycle and will definitely try this out. Great vid!

lol funny i just watched your termite video because i have termite damage, and the washer the previous owners left behind the inlet valve actually broke within a year so i just replaced it about a month ago.

Yes definately do not want to over tighten it because it will break. That is why I had to buy a replacement before I even gotten a chance to use the machine.

Great video, helped me immensely. Our Amana is pretty much like the one in the video but what is the middle plug for? A temperature sensor?

Bought a new house and this washer came with it, seemed fine until the same thing happened to me. It’ll only start to fill on any temp setting for 5 seconds when you open then close the lid. Once closed, water rushes in for about 5 seconds then it stops unless I open and close the lid again.

@ Kyle, I have the same washer, it sprung a leak a week ago, so I changed the pump out, still was leaking water after that, so I took the back off again and just set there watching, water starting dripping constantly from the hot water side valve, so I ordered a new one, just installed it, when I start the fill cycle the valves just hum loudly, like it’s getting juice but no water will come out at all, and I’ve switched between all the water setting and nothing changes, so what do I need to do

I replaced the unit and am still getting drips on the cold side, though less frequent. All the hoses are a good hand tight and not leaking. Leak is on the inside, behind tub coming off the blue plastic piece of the intake valve, same as with the one I replaced. Trying to see if the water could be traveling from somewhere else? It has destroyed the floor. #baffled. BTW mine is older and came apart somewhat differently. Good vid. Thx.

Hey I know this is an old video but I just fixed my inlet valve on the same washing machine you don't have to necessarily replace it ,,on both ends there is a little green cap you can pop it off and the magnet things slide off both sides are interchangeable so you could swap them around to make sure that's actually the issue if it's not unscrew the white stem and clean out the rubber gasket also a little plastic piece in between the rubber gasket stretch the spring a little bit out put it back together and should work fine

How did you remove the new ones coverings for the plugs? For the old it was easy with players but the new blue ones look sealed to it and I can’t get them off

Do the inlets have n ay type of screen or filters,,i have a 3 year old amana thats short cycling and not getting clothes clean,,,we have well water and it often stops up certain appliances,,,

We recently had a freezing temperatures out here that caused a pipe to burst. The pressure was so strong the hot water connection broke off the back of our washer and when I run a fill cycle it trickles water from the hot side even when I use cold. Is there a simple fix for that or would it just be better to replace the whole inlet valve?

When I put mine on cold or tap cold hot water comes out instead and I already made sure the hoses weren’t backwards. Will replacing this part fix my issue as well?

Would this Valve be the reason my washer is dripping inside? Few drops of cold water into the drum from where the water comes out when it fills
