How are a catch basin and pop-up emitter the same?

Did you know you can use a catch basin as a water emitter? We explain the similarities between a catch basin and a pop-up emitter. When exiting water, they are installed the same way.

Thanks for the explanation. I ran over my catch basin with a skid steer while grading my yard and didn't know the name of the device. I'd rather fix it myself than pay the crawlspace company big $$ to fix it.

That catch basin is 5" wide. We've been working on a in line trencher series that's 5" wide. They are ideal for a trench made with a trencher. July is our release I will ship you one from our first test run. Looking forward to your opinion / review. It's a game changer.

I have a front yard that is all asphalt. Would they be safe to drive over and if not what would you recommend?

So you wouldn’t wrap the entire gravel portion with fabric? Just lay it on the bottom? Wouldn’t the gravel clog?

Wouldn't the catch basin hold more water before spilling out immediately like a pop up emitter ?

Unfortunately, we don't. We do now sell French Drain Man pipe and some other products for pickup in Charlotte.

What size/kind of stone do you recommend to sit under the pop-up emitter’s weep hole(s)? Gravel?

We use the same stone as French drains. 1"-2" river rock. Pond pebbles is what they are called at the big box stores

Is it okay to have an emitter pop up through concrete? We are having an RV pad poured and the only way to discharge the storm water is through the concrete.

Don't put the pop up in concrete, use a stronf catch basin with a metal grate. You'll need to make sure the basin sits on a firmly packed base so it doesn't sink.

Buy a small roll of it at Lowe's. They have some for like $20 bucks

is that elvow shcedule 40 or for the thinner pipe like the sewer and drain 35?

@@drainmylawn I'm really confused. What is the type of pipe you used if that isn't sdr35? From my observation french drain man used to use sdr35 when they need to use non corrugated, but those pipes were blue/greenish in color.

@@al70127 you use sewer pipe which is thinner pipe compared to your normal PVC. It’ll be green or white in color.
