A much-debated issue among #Muslims is why the four schools of Islamic jurisprudence sometimes disagree with each other. After the first century of #Islam, questions arose about how to perform various acts of worship and transactions. How should one #pray like the #Prophet (peace be upon him)? How should one correctly perform #charity or #pilgrimage? Early scholars, such as the Imams Malik, Abu Hanifa, Shafi’i, and Ahmad ibn Hanbal, each came up with unique solutions to the questions of their day. Dear Dr Shabir Ally and Dr Safiyyah Ally, I am not a muslim but a Jew in Sweden and I have listen to your programs and I think that it is so interesting indeed Dr Shabir talks very very good, and Dr Safiyyah seems ot the so harmonious and so peaceful, that this gives so very good impression of the beautiful of your religion. The natural religion. I wish that what you do can lift the impression of Islam as many probably have to a higher level there people can see that it is a real islam. a road of peace.

When I reverted to Islam I was first introduced to the Senegalese Mourid Tradition founded by Sheikh Ahmadou Bamba. They are Maliki in Fiqh. Years later I relocated to California with my wife, and now I am the only Maliki at my local Masjid. The majority are Hanafi or Hanbali. However, never once has anyone sought to change my salaat, which is what immediately marks me as Maliki.

Abu Hanifa died year 150 AH while Shafi was born year 150. Malik was born year 93 AH

The Schloers of four schools of thoughts had no idea about modern technology that hugely influence our lives. Moreover, Quran and Hadith give no guidelines as to the lifestyles we are having now. Therefore, leave the people alone instead of controlling tham with middle aged guidelines.

Imaam Abu Hanifa = Hanafi Imaam Malik = Maliki Imaam Shafi = Salafi Imaam Hanbal = Hanbali You can Google to find out more about these Imaams. Within Sunni Islam, there are four schools of thought: Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi'i, and Hanbali. All are based on the teachings of different imams, or Islamic religious leaders.

All the four imams have said not to follow us but Quran and hadees. They knew we are humans and chance of mistake is possible. Now a days we have very much resources to study Islam. We all Muslims are agreed that Bukhari and Muslim are the most authentic books of hadees with no fear that there is a false (Zaeef) hadees. A layman has to face two everyday deeds prayer and Purity. We should read the chapters about prayer and purity in these two books. A layman

Why don't you ever mention the work of the 6th and 7th Iman in the Jahfari School? These are actually the Imams who started this work

Jafari school is vastly different from the 4 Sunni schools of thought. Besides, the Dr does not specialize in Shia Islam. There are plenty of other channels and experts for that.

Because they have different interpretations. One example is the Shaffi school say you can eat the meat of Jews and Christians no need to say Allah’s name you just cut the neck but the 3 other schools say you have to say in the name of Allah. They all use the same verse to prove the opposite.

@@kamron4u that’s what I’ve heard. Later Shafi scholars do not require the name of Allah[swt] to be mentioned when the animal is being slaughtered. The name of allah has to be mentioned before you eat the meat. I guess it must be linked to the fact that Muslims can eat the meat of animals caught by hunting animals, such as hounds, cheetah, falcons etc.

@@kamron4u Imam Syafiih's opinion is makruh [an Islamic term that refers to actions or behavior that are not recommended or disliked, but not expressly prohibited], Based on the interpretation between sura al-An'am verse 121 and surah Al Maidah verse 5. According to contemporary scholars, this opinion is due to the careful attitude of Imam Syafiih towards Allah's authority over things that are Haram or halal [not daring to claim that he has authority].

I have a question. Is not Allah the Only One who determines what is halal and haram? My second question is, who gave the scholars the authority to make things halal or haram?

Yes only Allah(and through his prophet) declares what is halal and haram. But who interprets what Allah says. Can the average layman who doesnt even know arabic pick up a translation of the quran and get a full understanding of it? Answer is no. To quote Dr Shabir. You need to go to specialists. If your ill you don’t prescribe yourself medicine, but go to an expert e.g. doctor. In the same way we need scholars to act as experts and give us verdicts, much like the doctors. However, just like bad doctors, we do find some bad scholars, but thats another discussion altogether

@@Hamza00011 its less of interpretation and more of sensory although humans never trained their supernatural ability. Having been direct and with better supernatural sensory ability i can better tell the guidance of god than any scripture can. When i read any scripture it just seems terrible and the inaccuracies are horrible even for the quran itself.

Dr. Ali, please fix your dates! You are confusing when people were born with when they died. It makes a difference. If we assume that women give birth at 30 (late by the standards of the day), even the earliest Imam Hanafi would be a 5th generation Muslim. These imams are much later than you think!

Have you heard this Hadith? My ummah will be divided into 73 sects. All of them will be in hellfire except one. (Sahih Muslim) How about this? Anyone dies without knowing the Imam of his time dies as an ignorance. (Sahih Muslim) How about Quran 17:71 ˹Beware of˺ the Day We will summon everyone with their Imam. The only sect that prophet (PBUH) is talking about is shia (twelvers). This is the only group that follows the message of Allah and his prophet and never pick and choose. So my question to sunni brother and sisters is according to these hadiths and Quran, who is your Imam of Time?

they're false. From a supernatural perspective if you ever have been direct and know, god actually does not care what religion you even are. While more than 90% of muslims would go to hell it is not for which sect they are in but due to extremism. I mean most muslims believe false things about the supernatural and their own prophets to the point where they follow hadiths that divide humans and make humans hate one another.

From this interview I have not seen anything leading you toward the truth. It is the same thing the people who called themselves Christian that corrupt the truth that came with the prophet. So no truth no justice. That why Muslims will always be divided because no leader that knows Islam in it true message that the prophet bought to the people, that is why you all don't have the answers and that are misleading the masses, what a great sin.

The four schools of thought are 100% the same in the belief system of Islam, almost 80% in the details of the deeds and rituals are the same as well, the remaining 20% is what it is all about, do you think that makes that much difference?
