Mr.Lominoss that is true, but the point of the video wasn’t to blame anything, it was just to correlate my love for a program to my excitement and learning pixel art. It’s more of an overblown situation for the sake of an entertaining video.

Damn, this is weird. I've watched a few different vids on pixel art and aseprite and talked to a few people in different forums and none really convinced me to invest on Aseprite just yet. But watching this video... I now realize why I should definitely buy it. The same reason why, when buying my electric guitar, I bought an Ibanez instead of another beginner's Stratocaster or Les Paul. One inspired me to play, the other ones didn't as much. Looking at the UI of Aseprite, I can see why it can do the same to others. That beautiful UI begs you to go ahead and do some 8 bit fuckery on it. Everything is set up right to get you in the mood. That's exactly what keeps Aseprite ahead of Marmoset Hexels, Pro Motion and Pixelorama. I'm sold. Thank you for this. Otherwise idk how long it would've taken me to realize
@Fairlii
@Fairlii 4 жыл бұрын

This is so weird, because I feel the same with aseprite, I started using it like 4 months ago and I wouldn't believe that the last things I've been drawing were actually mine, I started with very weird techniques, trying to figure out how to do different things and just... it happened and now I'm quite happy with the work I've done so far. Also I'm working on a videogame too, but I'm not the artist, I focus on programming, a friend I met on a pixel art discord server does the art, I just do pixel art as a hobby when I'm not programming.

Was hoping to hear why/how Aseprite in particular is so distinctly good compared to other programs, not just a feeling that it is so good followed up with some tips. Perhaps a feature that is unique to Aseprite, as surely it isn't just the name that appeals. I'd choose Pixelorama if based on name alone. I switched from Pixelorama from Aseprite because the Rotate tool was simpler and more straightforward with Aseprite, and now I'm having to weigh what is distinct about Pixelorama, such as instantly being able to keybind left and right click to different tools, with what is distinct about Aseprite.

I’ve been using piskel for just over a year and I have yet to switch to asprite... I wonder if I will someday (the reason is piskel has all I need right now and I don’t wanna use a paid program yet, I might though.)

Aseprite is fairly cheap, you should download the free demo of it just to try it!

Asesprite tip: no need to deliberately make animations in sprite sheets, make animation through the built-in animator, and export as a sprite sheet.

I think the reason Aseprite motivated you was because of the UI (For me at least lol) The UI and design in Aseprite makes it look like your playing a video game instead of drawing/working, and yeah as you said it's more fun that way and seems less like a chore

Question, I notice how at around 5:57 there's rotating pixel art, now how in the hell do you achieve that? Is it just a feature in Aseprite? Nowhere can I find the answer to this question :/

I own and love aseprite, but it is just the "pixel" portion of PS tbh. PS has all of these features, plus is PhotoShop...
@Asrashas
@Asrashas 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, but aseprite costs 15 bucks. And I think you are even allowed to use it for free, if you build it from source. Not 100% sure on the licensing there. Maybe you need to buy it for commercial projects. Anyways, what does PS cost again?
