The microtransactions themselves aren't the worst but they shouldn't even be there to begin with, as this becomes more common practice in games it may be incorporated in to future game design to make it more of a grind to earn something in game and incentivise you to spend a few extra dollars here and there.

I'd say the biggest reason for the negative user reviews is the poor game optimization on PC. Even the best of hardware has trouble running this game. The bad performance is a much bigger hinderance to enjoying the game than the microtransactions.

I'm into the game for several hours in and enjoying it massively. At a glance, you can tell they're mostly items you can get free in the game. It's only for convenience, not essential. The bigger picture here is to all developers: players simply do not like microtransactions in shape, way or form.

Its not like the devs are gonna change their game to influence you to buy itens in the MTX store right? Like changing drop rates and make you grind more. Thats the whole point of fighting against these practices, they change the game, its not just cosmetics, soon they will put something in you cannot get in game and you will have to grind a lot, are you okay with that after buying the game full price? Actually, the mtx DLC in dd2 are items in the pre order and deluxe edition, capcom sells part of the items in the deluxe edition separately for people who only buy the regular edition, so they can try the items in the deluxe edition, so they can choose for themselves, and the mtx DLC items are only valid for one-time purchase, not multiple or unlimited.

It's a SINGLE PLAYER GAME, you literally have no "competitive" advantage w/ buying anything with real money, even Port Crystals (especially if you don't have any Ferrystones anyway lol). I'd be upset if the Portcrystals were like $20 each, that would feel like gouging, but it's likely like $5 AND you can just find them in-game or look up ANY video that tells you where to grab them w/o grabbing your debit card haha

For those saying they shouldn't be there in the first place, consider that they can be useful transactions if you just want to mess about, not take the game seriously and accidentally let a vital NPC die and you need a Wakestone. The fast travel, you're supposed to be exploring to find new adventures, not teleporting everywhere. Stop worrying about it and actually engage with the game instead of talking like you're a pro speed runner. The rest of it is just useless stuff you can get easily in game. Nothing that breaks the game or is worth buying. Rift crystals don't actually help that much. Even if you get a higher level pawn they won't carry you through fights alone.

One important detail is missing: the Explorer camping kit is the lightest one of all kits in the game, and can only be unlocked ingame by buying the DLC.

just moved apartments this weekend, no internet setup in the new one so i've played 15-20 hrs without even seeing the microtransaction store. can honestly say whatever is in there doesn't matter, the game plays beautifully without. based on this video it seems to be the same kind of thing we saw in RE4 remake where they sell you some quality of life/speedrun stuff for low-effort gamers who just want the story and great combat.

Look IGN, u guys are not getting the point on why people are so pissed about these micro transactions so I’ll explain. The director removed or restricted so many convenient features in dd2 that most open world has like the save point, save slot, expensive fast travel, etc. Capcom did not emphasize these features and only showcased the battle, so lots of new gamers did not anticipate such system. The developer itsuno knew that these restrictions would anger a lot of buyers but decided no change cause he’s idea of game immersion comes from these inconvenience. Then the game started to sell the fast travel items in cash. For the gamers who hate the inconvenience feel like this game is charging extra dollars for features that should’ve existed in the first place, and for the gamers who enjoys these inconvenience feel like all their effort to gather in-game resources to buy items are not worth it since u can get them by spending few dollars. These micro transactions are SATISFYING NO ONE

to advise, the first game only had 2 or 3 portcystals (and the original base game didn't include the eternal ferrystone), the Dragons Dogma series is based on exploration, If you want to make that easier for yourself, go ahead, you can buy it, otherwise put your boots on, because you're going for a walk

The real kick here is that CAPCOM hid this from the players. It a time when EVERYONE knows how players get ticked with surprise micro transactions - it’s unacceptable.

There is no excuse for mircotransations in a SINGLE PLAYER game that is already a little bit overpriced. Not even cosmetics are tolerable because this cost 65€. This is among one of the absolute best implementations of real money purchases in a game. The game was completely designed without them in mind. They aren't part of any gameplay loop. They are never advertised to you in-game, even when they are a potential answer to an in-game problem. They are purely optional for people who want to spend a bit more money on their game. It's a single player game so there's no meta for them to unbalance. They are all completely attainable through normal gameplay, with no additional grinding or tedium required. The only way they might be even better is if they were purely cosmetic, with no mechanical effect at all. And yet the "community" goes apeshit because "they could have been bad". And YET an arguably less-optimal implementation of them in Helldivers 2? Everyone loves them. Y'all need to take a step back. This will be one of the best games of the year, and fear of hypotheticals is ruining your day? Come on.

These are the most non-essential MTX probably in the history of MTX. Not to mention they cost next to nothing anyway. Anyone who's played the original Dragon's Dogma can tell you it's no different. It had the same MTX as DD2, but for some reason now it's an issue. And per my understanding, the MTX Port crystal is a SINGLE purchase. One Port Crystal isn't going to drastically change the game, and as the video stated, you still need a Ferrystone to use them (Which CANNOT be purchased). The Internet is blowing Dragon's Dogma 2 drama way out of proportion. The Performance issues are annoying, but people act like Baldur's Gate 3, or even Helldivers wasn't full of issues at launch (some still persisting). Those games are far better now than at launch. It will be patched, but even so, I've been playing without issues on my PC (not a high end PC). People are just being dramatic.

The micro transactions in the game are completely ignorable. They are more like time savers than anything else. They're not shoved down your throat. Not even in the main menu other than saying online store which you would have to click on. it takes you to another screen that Shows the microcactions on that. When you play the actual game, you press pause. It's just a pause screen That allows you to look at your map inventory. Equipment options and save no info on micro transactions anywhere while playing the actual game.

It's not ignoreable, if we ignore it it will give space for them to do worse in the next game.
