The main issue here that caused the tile installation to fail is the use of an unapproved method that is frowned upon by the tile industry, spot bonding. Spot bonding is prone to failure, it is often used to compensate for poor surface prep and used by unskilled and untrained installers. This method should be avoided at all costs. WTF is wrong with people!? I'm not in the business of tile work, I'm just a DIY home owner and I know this would not happen in my home! It does help to watch the experts like Sal and several others out here on YT.

That guy and his no pre slope is needed. Blows my mind I sent him a link to directions to the product he uses where it says it a few times.. Failing Stars !! Sal does it right !!

@TopNotchTile Well, because he puts liquid waterproof on top of his post slope and on top of his screws through the top of the curb and the inside of the curb. So he says it negates all that and the liquid waterproofing makes that all good. and he doesn't use a bonding flange, so the water will never fully drain because the liquid waterproof's up the side of the drain so the water can jump over that 3/8 of an inch. Of the drain height.🤣

And they were probably gonna charge 10 to $15000. And now they have to rip it out and pay another 10 to $15000 and have it done correctly. This is why it's so important to just vet Your master tile installer and pay the 10 to $15000 1 time and have a shower that will last 30 to 50 years... I see this all the time when guys don't believe in pre slope or it's not code. Also, red guard is always a sign of amateurs because most real flooring supply houses do not sell red guard. Sorry to say, but this is about 80% of the showers that are being built-in America today. and the floors are just as bad. Great video.

What's wrong with red gard? I recently dismantled a shower made with red gard; this shower lasted almost 10 years and was in excellent condition.

@zimasibir Honestly, all of the liquid water proofings are probably very close in chemical Makeup, all I meant was They do not sell redguard at any professional flooring supply stores that I've ever seen. It's only sold at the box stores which tells me if you're only going to the box store and you're not going to the professional flooring stores in your area. You're probably a homeowner, DIY or first timer, whatever.

I’m two rocks short of being a full box of rocks myself but I don’t understand why people Spot bond when no directions ever say so? Just follow the rules, no?
