James Wiseman should have been the missing piece to the Warriors dynasty v2, instead here we are today with Wiseman failing to crack the Pistons rotation. in just a three years span, what happened to James Wiseman?

The NBA is full of one dimensional athletic players who can’t do anything but dunk and jack up bad threes like him he isn’t anything special and know he will bounce around the league until he is inevitably bounced out permanently they don’t have any skills whatsoever outside of a few guys they don’t shoot at a good percentage dribble or play defense this is the crap they are putting on the court and a lot of fans are tuning out the ratings are going down like a hooker on Figueroa Street.

I think what we have seen is what he is. He has ALL the physical tools you could ask for, and enough offensive ability to produce more and more consistently than he has. Talking about "developement" it's up to the individual to put on the work to improve one's skills and it's been apparent he hasn't otherwise we woouldn't be having this convo. Might sound corny but he has no dawg in him, just watching his play and body language there is no urgency. Some people just don't really want to hoop like that, would've been cool to see him reach his potential but he's just not that guy. Maybe he could be a Javaale type role player down the road if he just buys into it mentally

I slightly agree with some of your points but only because you accidentally made them. This 100% has to do with AAU, middle school, High School, and college basketball. There is a reason there are levels to this game. So I agree sort of that it's on him but at the same time the NBA isn't practicing defense. You have to already be there defensively before you get there. All they do in the NBA is basically throw you into their system and practice their system which includes very little d plus you're guarding non pros or g leaguers. Then the most important part is the money. This kid has spent his entire life with money in his pocket to play offense and then he gets a big NBA contract which might not be big for the NBA but for life in general it's a lot of money. A lot of guys lose that passion the minute the ink dries. Basically, he's a victim of a system that ALL these morons thought would help the players but it just ruins them. That's why overseas or euro players are taking over the league. Jokic is the best player in the NBA by a lot and people who deny that no nothing about basketball but most people don't realize Sabonis was top 3 last season in analytics which show the true play of a player. Doncic has and off year last year but he'll be top 5 again this year. Wemby, Giannis, Embiid, Markkenan, and every team in the NBA has at least 1 former Yugoslavian player but some have 2 or 3. Plus they say Vezenkov and V. Micic are really those dudes as will come out like Doncic and Jokic soon. This is AAU and western culture problem period. Is it on Wiseman too? Of course but also I think he is a victim in it too, he is just a VERY young kid. They should make then play at least 2 season in NCAA. Only I'm super rare circumstances should someone be allowed to skip. Basically, take a high school LeBron and put him in a real NBA game. If he can put on or at least maintain then you can skip the 2 years.

As a warriors fan most of what you said was correct, but I wouldn't say he has slow foot speed or lack of motor, it's his reaction speed, he was always a beat slow, at the lower levels this was papered over by his athleticism and his ability to recover. Also probably his biggest issue offensively you didn't mention, his hands... they were terrible. So many bobbled entry passes and so many blown ally ops. Such an underratted thing for a big man to have. Wish him the best though, he really does have the all athletic gifts and you could tell all he wants to do is learn and get better. But maybe he should spend more time in the film room than practicing a mid range.

He was way behind in development at 19 when he was drafted. He only played a half season (mostly starts) when he got the big MCL tear that kept him out for a year and a half. When he came back, he was mentally and physically even further regressed than when he was injured. He never even played a full season with the Warriors, but after he came back, he sucked so bad that he was clearly not going to be ready to help The current timeline Warriors. So he got traded. He literally played 60 games for the Warriors, but the Warriors had seen enough. Mentally he is just lost out there. He always had a low motor, but he’s so inattentive out there now, it’s ridiculous. He just stands around so much.

That college decision + the warriors draft were the worst things for Wise. He was a raw talent never given the opportunity to develop and now he seems to old to some teams. Why work on and hope he develops when you can get on a younger big man who doesn’t have the history. Sad to see. I hope he stays hooping and gets a coach who will aggressively address his deficiencies.

Thanks for the vid! I might be one of the few Wiseman fans out there. And this is one of the only videos I see that does a good analysis of his short comings. I think player development would be a good fix. I think he needs to do some soul searching, take time out to actually develop. Being with Draymond would make 1 think that he'd learn how to read offenses and be in the right place for defensive plays. I think he'd be more valuable to any team as a defensive stalwart or rim protector. But he fancies himself to be a Jokic type of player. He is young. He can start off being a defensive role player and play himself into being the star he wants to be. Question is how much goodwill does he have left for other teams to take a chance. Funny thing is, he might end up with the warriors again.

James not playing in Memphis and the Covid situation really helped him finess the NBA! If you spent a whole year just watching a championship team and having hall of famers calling you "big ticket" and tryna show you the ropes and you still don't know where to be when you're on the court that means you lack the desire to know and improve. Better yet, if you're in the G-league and can't dominate that competition then that says alot. There are people in this world that are with no exaggeration 1000x better at what they do then James at what he does and those people will never earn $18 million even if they lived multiple lifetimes, so he should run away with that rookie contract like a bandit!!!

When he was with GSW it seemed like his offensive upside was a major distraction from his defensive development. At the time they didn't need his scoring they needed his defense and rebounding/ He was after Looney's job and thar is w Looney does. Not sure how/why he didn't get better should have been a natural progression 🤔

He lost his rotation spot with the Pistons in the preseason. On the bright side, he’s still young. Hopefully he goes somewhere someone can bring him back to basics, be it in the G League or Europe or wherever, and be at least a productive player in the NBA as he approaches 30. But even that is not probable considering how little he learned from Joker’s old coach, who became his player development coach with the Warriors.

Not true, they’ve developed Kevon Looney and Jordan Poole well, two players picked at the end of the 1st round. What is true is that under Steve Kerr, the Warriors have hardly ever had the chance draft a high pick and when they do they don’t seem to select or develop them well. Wiseman is a bust, Moses Moody has moments but idk, and Kuminga might develop better in another system

@@MorphedWombathe only got shine after CP3 went down. If CP3 doesn't go down, BP is rotting on the bench. There's TJD (center), he is good. This guy showed flashes as a rookie. Like one time when he ripped and ran and finished with a flush, I was getting Giannis vibes. Missing a season and a half didn’t help though. As well as the Warriors basically trying to make him a taller version of Kevon Looney. I love Loon, but Wiseman is taller, more athletic and skilled. Instead of just making him a screen setter they should’ve at least run plays for him every once in a while. Or told him to just rim run and reward him with easy dunk opportunities. Kerr’s mismanaged these youngsters. I’m still rooting for Wiseman to make it, but at this point he’s probably headed overseas.

@@truthnotfeelings no he lacked work ethic and the desire to compete. You couild see that in his rebounding. He was literally caught standing around all the time when there were rebounds to be had. Despite in many cases he had a physical advantage over everyone on the court to get boards and he didnt even try to get involved in the fight for rebounds. Heck- I see more fight out of a 6 4 guard in brandin Podjemski than I ever saw out of wiseman on the glass. (And thats not even a primary job for a guard). People said the problem is that the warriors needed patience and big men develop slow.... LOl but then I see guys like Evan Mobley, Wembanyana, and Holmgren able to be contributing players from day 1.
