How Bad is the 2006 Travel Supreme Roof?

Күн бұрынWhile repairing the loud roof A/C on this 2006 Travel Supreme, I figured I may as well look at the roof. Unfortunately I did find a few major issues and will have to give the owner bad news.
Travel Supreme's are made with a gel-coat molded fiberglass seamless roof. These are among the best types in the industry. Both Dicor and silicone were used as sealants. I like the durablity of lap sealing the flanges and screws, but some people like a clean non-lapped looked.
My apologies to viewers that grow tired of the roof inspection videos. I should have more repairs coming up.

5 years ago I bought an old 97 Fleetwood RV that used to be a rental in AZ. You guys rebuilt a lot of it. Its still clean title too 😝 What I'm saying is, you guys do supreme work. I've lived in it for 5 years running around. Sure I've had to do my fair share of inside repairs, but the bones are solid and I'm pleased to own it. Even with an edpm rubber roof, it's still been a fun rig to have..

Love watching your videos - but it's a literal roller coaster ride for me every time you look over the edge I get such vertigo. It's dizzying and scary like I'm there and falling myself! (don't stop, it's part of the adventure, but wow it's realistic)

These roof inspections are OK but it would be nice to see videos of you doing fixing the problems you find during an inspection.

I ha e a 06 Keystone Laredo and will replace my rubber roof hopefully before it gets too hot. oh my you too? I've had to re-program one controller 20 times once the batteries go dead. It's such a bad system. But no I do not yet.

I just bought a 2007 travel supreme envoy... the skylight has waterbetween the skylight plus the calk running the length of the of each side is cracking.. for the skylight I.should reseal with.liquis beutyl but to.see the roof and the seems,should I use self leveling dicoror self leveling silicone?

I’ve got my eyes on a 2002 travel supreme select 500hp. Are they well built machines? I know what to look for in general, but anything I should pay special attention to with the travel supremes?

i am struggling to get any caulking to stick to new plastic vents..it will stick to the roof but not the vent plastic. any recommendation on plastic surface etching/primers that may help adhesion?

What causes the checking of the paint semi have fiberglass roofs and different parts they’re out in the weather 24 seven most of them are paying it with Emeril paint is it the paint/Galco or is it the fiberglass

not the paint. its generally agreed to be the offgassing of the resin in the fiberglass/gelcoat. Heat and sunlight causes it and the industry does not care, it's very sad.

What would you use instead of roof repair tape? Not a fan of roof repair tape either. I agree I prefer to cover/seal all screw heads.

the correct method would be to grind out the damage and fiberglass repair, fill and paint.

I have a question about Newmars 2017 Canyon Star. Are the roof constructed with a one piece laminated fiberglass roof? The roof I looked at today appeared to be delaminated on a spot

What are your opinions on roof coating on a full fiberglass roof say with FlexArmor? Obviously this would remedy the checking.

Yeah hey James, expanding on Big Dan’s comment, I thought fibreglass roofs were hardy, but apparently not so much after seeing this, because it looks like water can get in once severe checking occurs....so would you say an aluminium sheeting roof would be the best roof on a 5th wheel or trailer if one had the choice? I would think less expensive than fibreglass? Metal I suspect be the most expensive? My point is I just don’t understand why RV’s that are made for the purpose to go outdoors, thus will be by trees, which shred roofs, why in 🤬 are their roofs made then with a thin piece of material plastic rubber that snars easily? It would be so nice not to have to worry all the time about tree branches when rv’ing. 😬 Cheers 🍻

I think Sika flex roof self leveling is very thin and flows too much personally.

I never knew that roofs can buckle made out of fiberglass and wore you should open up a school to teach people how to do inspections have the government help you start the school get Federal funding 🇺🇸🇵🇷🤔👍🏼
