As WrestleMania 40 approaches its crazy to think there have been 40 years of WrestleMania, and just like everything else, there have been good ones and bad ones. One of the most infamous Mania's of all time is no doubt Wrestlemania 27. This event ever since it has aired has been considered one of the worst Mania's of all time, some people even going as far as calling it the WORST WrestleMania of all time. Well, 13 years later I decided to go back and revisit it. I wanted to see if WM 27 was REALLY that bad, or had it just been over blown.. Lets find out !

They banned unprotected headshots from foreign objects because of the CTE/Benoit tragedy. Multiple things played a part in making the show PG. Like I said "By 2008 PG was in full force" which aligns with what you said.

WM27 was my introduction to wrestling. I started watching in May 2011. You don’t know how annoying it is to know that the biggest show of the year took place in your hometown just one month earlier and you were too late. It’s sentimental to me so I’ll always love it.

@@pleaseshutup7053 Yeah, I was still watching when Edge retired, but not long after that, and I didn't pay attention to WWE at all after I stopped watching except for that couple of episodes on Eurosport I watched in 2013, people made fun of it here a lot, because of the dumb stuff like these comedy segments so we all stopped watching it, it was either too violent or too goofy for people and it used to be super popular before that. I don't remember hearing about Summer of Punk until I came back to it in 2019 and I really love what I discovered about it, his feud with Cena, Jericho etc. Edge became my favourite wrestler during 2010-2011 era.

The Mania main event was doomed from the start. They had Miz needing to be saved by Michael cole against Jerry Lawler for weeks, and Rock and Cena just forgot about The Miz for the most part. Baffling as to how we didn't get Punk as the rumble winner challenging Edge for the world title as the main, or at least Taker/HHH.

Was there live-- can confirm Cole vs Lawler KILLED the crowd. For as long as it seems watching it at home, it felt like an eternity live. There were multiple boring chants that they muted the crowd mics for. Then Taker vs HHH is truly underrated. One of my favorite matches ever.

Same for me - my 1st Mania. Man, can you believe it was 13 years ago :( I remember that on this day I was hyping up by rewatching 25 and 26, especially hyping myself for Undertaker vs Triple H. This match was incredible and satisfied my expectations. The main event was amazing to me because of the aura. Cena and Miz promo/entrances were insane. Even small details like new Cena t-shirt and titantron colors were so special to me back then. The shots of Atlanta at night, Written to the stars. Ain’t No Grave, Hate Me Now, For Whom The Bell Tolls… those virgin Wrestlemania moments will always be in my heart

That's how I feel about 4. I'd been around before Wrestlemania but that one was my first, I chose to rent it rather than 1, 2 or 3 because it was two tapes instead of one. I figured that the length would make it the best choice. I was wrong. Terrible show. But still a special spot for me.

Randy orton vs Wyatt god awful I remember bayley beat Charlotte for the title right before mania dumb decision. There only 3 positives to come from this WrestleMania: it gave us HHH vs Taker, The Rock came back for it, and the Main Event planted the seeds for WrestleMania 28 which was miles better than 27

WrestleMania 27 truly is one of the most questionable Manias ever. Almost every match sucked with the exception of 4 which are really good. Edge Vs Alberto Del Rio in Edge’s last PPV match at the time, Rey Mysterio Vs Cody Rhodes, CM Punk Vs Randy Orton, and of course, the legendary No Holds Barred, Triple H coming out to Metallica’s “For Whom the Bells Toll”, Vs Undertaker who came out to Johnny Cash’s “Ain’t No Grave”. Those entrances were truly badass and their match was an amazing time, sure not better than Mania X-Seven or 28, but it still was great. Such a shame these matches get overshadowed by the negatives. This show had so much potential, but it is what it is🤷‍♂️.

As I kid I loved wrestling, it was my favorite thing in world at the time and I was about 12 years old when this happened I grew up in Georgia and always wanted to go to wrestlemania so when me and my dad found out it was gonna be in the Georgia dome we got our tickets ASAP we were so hype. The event felt like a once in a life time experience. From Access and getting to meet a bunch of my favorite wrestlers and actually being at mania plus the raw after was awesome so I look at the very poor mania through rose tented glasses but as an adult I still hope one day the bring it back to Atlanta and give us a good quality wrestlemania.

It was so bad that Atlanta who has gotten a brand new stadium, several new spaces, and changed large amounts of their infrastructure still hasn’t had a wrestlemania since this event. We’ve literally hosted almost everything except another wrestlemania. Were about to host parts of the World Cup but not a single mention of another wrestlemania

While I know that most people hate WrestleMania 27, this one will always have a special place in my heart because this was the first real live WWE ppv that me, my dad and my brother got to experience together. Got to actually watch the whole thing at buffalo wild wings when they were still allowed to do WWE events there and we were there for extreme rules, money in the bank , summer slam and hell in a cell in the same year of 2011. Was a really awesome time for me especially with being a WWE fanboy and I'm glad I got to experience all of these ppv live at freaking buffalo wild wings of all places with my dad and brother, plus, seeing the reactions from everyone around the restaurant was amazing too.

2010 was the year where WWE had new and old stars yet they fucked WM27 up. All they had to do was 1). Christian Vs Edge for WHC as semi main 2). Miz Vs Morrison I QUIT for WWE Title as the third last match 3). Cena Vs Punk carrying the nexus angle 4). Cody Vs Rey to open the show 5). Randy Vs ADR to build credibility to ADR 6). Sheamus Vs Bryan on the main show 7). Triple H Vs Undertaker Main eventing 8). Snooki,Trish & Kofi Vs Ziggler, Michelle and Layla in a cooldown match 9). 10 minutes of Jerry beating Cole w Austin And Put the corre on the preshow How they blew this opportunity is beyond me!?

I know this is off topic but going off of what Pav said about how HHH vs Undertaker shouldve been the main event, you can say that about all of Taker's matches from Wrestlemania 23 all the way up to 29. The only one that is questionable is 24, which although he was the main event and the match was pretty good, couldnt match the spectacle of Ric Flair's retirement match.

IMO They Should've Done Miz VS Alberto To Start The Show, GIVE MICHAEL & JERRY 10 MINS & I MEAN 10 MINS ONLY!, Give Orton,Punk, Cody & Rey Atleast 20 Mins. Then Do Edge VS John In The MainEvent After A Fire Match, Cena Sits In The Ring Broken But Just Then Rock Comes, Hits The Rock Bottom & Sets The WM28 Match. Everyone Would've Been Happy.

The one good thing about this Mania for me was how I watched it. Hooters was full, so my former step dad picked me up and took me to watch it at his co-worker's big ass house where they had food and drinks and everything. He even ended up taking a liking to me and gave me a Mystico mask.

Honestly they should’ve had Rocc fight Cena at 27. Instead of him being the guest host they should’ve just had him return unannounced. Then they should’ve had him intefere in the Elimination Chamber match the month before(they found a way to do it with Shawn and Taker the year before so they could’ve easily did it then). And they should’ve had John Morrison win that match and face The Miz for the title at Mania. Imagine if they had Rocc vs. Cena at 27 instead of throwing the main event under the bus to set up 28.

I just started watching wrestling after this WM. A video "the rock returns to (I think smackdown)" video showed up in my recommendations. I guess it was the SD show right after WM. Never watched 27 but when HHH/Undertaker was the best match I have to go back to this. Loved Triple H vs undertaker at WM28

I’ve been WAITING for you to do all the other Mania’s you haven’t done yet. Taker vs HHH could’ve been a video on it’s on, it was that good. The rest was complete shit. We should’ve got Edge vs Christian for the world title. You should do Mania 26 next, I don’t think you’ve done that. Even do “Revisiting Old Wrestlemanias” like WM3, WM5, WM10, etc. You should also do the best match at every Mania, in honor of it being Mania 40

This was my first WM when i was an autistic 8-9 yr old, and you know what, i don't care if i get hate, im proud to say this i thought this was good, let me explain why, wrestling to me was my comfort zone when my mother passed in Nov 10, and no im not saying that just to get sympathy pointsim just telling you the facts of the story, as someone with autistim, dealing with death is incredibly difficult, so the WWE in its highly PG era days was my favorite damn thing in the world, and when i saw my first PPV, Royal Rumble 2011 and this being my 2nd, they hold close places to my heart cus it takes me back to when i was in a dark place, and also when your a kid watch the WWE theres at least 2 rules imo 1.The good guys should almost always win, no matter if your heels are champions, Core. 2. You should always send the fans (kids) home happy and having Rey and Cena not win there matches that night really pissed me off, yeah i was happy when the other good guys won but those were my 2 top guys, idk maybe i just thought thats the way wrestling should be, bad matches or mediocre matches cus that was i grew up watching, just wanting all your fan favorite good guys beat up the big tough bad guys, but everyone has their own opinion, also i HATED the rock after this cus he cost my boy Cena the title against the incredibly annoying Miz, not to mention his Cena bashing the month prior just made me not a fan of him, i know who the rock was before this but i didn't think much of him at the time, so i already did like that he was bashing one of my heros, but yeah thats just my opinion TL;DR PG era baby likes this ppv cus it helped him in a dark time, great video Pav 👍

Fun Fact: Undertaker vs Triple H at this WrestleMania was the first wrestling match I ever watched. If I remember right, it was late 2011, and I watched this match in 3 (maybe 4) separate parts on DailyMotion. Johnny Cash intro for Undertaker and everything. That was the first match I ever watched, and what made me a wrestling fan. Which made going into WrestleMania 28 so great for me, I get to see them go at it again. In a Hell in a Cell match this time. It was amazing to see. I don’t really care for this WrestleMania, but Undertaker vs Triple H that year is iconic for me

Main Event should of been WWE Champion and undefeated Nexus leader Wade Barrett vs John Cena for the WWE Championship. They could of done an angle throughout the whole show where it is the Nexus slowly getting dismantled and falling apart one by one throughout midcard matches and by the end it leaves Barrett alone and Cena ending Barrett's WWE Championship reign.

I actually was at this Wrestlemania, I was like 13 or so at the time and I enjoyed it overall, and I remember loving Edge vs Del Rio, Randy vs Punk, and Taker vs HHH, and taking a bathroom break for the Snooki match and being a lil surprised Cena didn’t walk out champ as that’s what I expected going in
