Don't wish this on anyone, but to see you deal with it, and your attitude...guys it's just really inspiring. Makes me want to go for a run or just kick butt on any one of our tiny little challenges. And what you said at the end...bro, that's what the whole world needs. Cheers to you!

Advise from a professional boatbuilder, get a company to do a NDT ultrasonic scan from under the tunnel, it will show any rot, voids or delamination between outer skin and core, they should be able to do it from a dinghy under the boat. NDT (non destructive testing) much cheaper than start chopping the boat up, if you find more rot then its possible to fix from underneath, tunnel is not a high visible area so easy to do the cosmetic repair afterwards, done a few upside down vacuum bag repair on catamaran tunnel in the past for the exact same reason

Hi, i have the same boat as you, a 2003, and i had a leak from the screws holding the helm console to the floor, it was leaking in the compartment under the helm where you found rot, you might want to seal those from the top, lagoon ‘’forgot’’ to do it. I accessed it from the round access port under the helm. Hang in there, everything can be fixed with duck tape and vise grips, and the occasionnal can of epoxy 🤓

Wrote this some years back. Thought it's fitting for the troubles and going forward regardless. Hugs you all... May the gentle breeze carry the whispers of the ancestors across your back porch to guide your way. May the rains in life be just enough for your pastures to be lush and glistening awaiting the sunshine to come. May the heart and the strength of another quiet you in the darkest of night. May the future always bring more delight and wonderment then the yesterdays. May your heart and passions always rule the way and never get lost in the hurry of life. May you see the world through the eyes of the child you once were, if at least once a day. May you never fear exploring who you truly are and meant to be. You come from love. May your scars never define you. They are a gift to share so others may grow. May your pains or fears be turned to compassion for others. May you dance to the universal music we all hear when we listen, with joy in your heart. We are all on a journey of different paths…….yet we are all one. Peace, love & hugzz.... BH, JHS.

I love watching your channel. I love the positive energy i feel from you. In the up's (where this is easy) and the down's - when you really show your great attidude. I feared more repair effort like in parlay revivals Bulkhead issue, but it looks like you are at least a bit lucky - the effort seems manageable. You found the problem, got the materials and are already almost half way through. I wish you all the best for the rest of the repairwork, and for all the other downs you will have to tackle one day. Be strong, keep your positivity, and go on being as great as you are now. I will follow you💪

Hey guys. We have been following you from the beginning, a great story! Really sorry that you hit this speed bump and are so off the beaten path when it happened. I have been in the boat repair business for 45 years so have replaced lots of core materials. First, remember that the core you are removing is what makes the panel stiff so do what you can to avoid loss of the original shape. PVC foam cores are popular due to not being organic but the compression strength of end grain balsa is actually a lot higher, nearly 2000 PSI! There are actually still really good reasons for using balsa. Keep it dry and it lasts forever but every skin penetration must be well sealed. I see people are worried about the fiberglass dust and yes do wear a respirator but oddly while polyester and fiberglass is miserable to get on you, it is normally benign. Watch out for some of the epoxies though, even just skin exposure can be bad news... Best to you guys. J&J

I was having moments of doubt and my family depends on me as its our home. One step at a time always pushing forward , ive weathered the worst the Pacific had to throw at me. Sometimes i need to be reminded , its all part of the journey. Enjoy the highs and lows for one day i will just a story on the tongues of my children. But now is the time to show my family anything can be over come ❤️.

Your message was spot on, Ben! Dramatic, but very real. We are going thru the same thing with a house. I just found out about an ongoing beetle rot, well hidden behind old stucco & a slate roof. I'm oddly happy to know about it & start solving it no matter what it takes. My love for the house, which has served us so well, drives me. Instead of throwing us off, this feels like it is putting us on course, where we connect with what really matters.
