What a great video. I love seaing you guys on the water. You spewl sailor lessons and great info about sailing. I love how Ashley can be so concerned about some things, but never about sailing. Ben is always having to pull the reigns back and slow her down because she loves sailing fast. The kids look great and are an awesome crew. Thank you so much for sharing. I need to log onto Patreon and catch up on what I missed.

Ben & Ashley, we just want to say thank you. Sailing Nahoa was the very first sailing channel my wife and I discovered 4+ years ago, before either of us had the slightest idea of quitting our jobs for life aboard. Happy to see your family still out there on Nahoa living the dream. Thanks in part to you guys, we finally left the dock in Fort Lauderdale 3 months ago and have been learning the lines on our 41’ Morgan Out Island. Thanks for helping us find our way!

Good to see you guys made it around the Cape and headed back North. We will be heading out (finally) from Coos Bay to the Southern Pacific by next summer. We're a mono hull (Caliber 40 LRC). We have been inspired by your epoch journey, and think the world of your non-compromising videos. It is sometimes disconcerting when you see so many NEW sailing channels that would called called bikini boat videos. You two (* four) have consistently produced some of the more real, and best-paced sailing shows on YT ... even if you're on a Cat ; ). It ain't the boat its the skills. Our best to all four of you on SV Nahoa. Wishing you all Fair Winds, Following Seas (and a lot of fish in them!) Cathy and Dorian on SV Arcanum. Peace ... out.

I've seen enough of your videos to know you're an experienced fisherman, but wanted to offer you a tip. Those skipjacks can be good if immediately bled and used for sashimi. But if you dont want to go that route, skipjacks and Bonita are also great for strip baits. If you find yourself sailing a little slow for trolling, like less than 4 knots, a strip bait will work better because the predator fish can smell it, vs just the reaction bite you're looking for out of a normal plastic lure. Strip baits are easy to make and you can freeze them for those slow trolling days. Worth a shot. We use them a lot for wahoo fishing!
@SailingNahoa
@SailingNahoa 10 ай бұрын
Thanks for the pro tip. Will try it next time. We’ve found the hookups go up exponentially in rough weather. Likely due to lure action. Will try the strip bait in calmer conditions.

St Hellena is both a S Atlantic millitary and civil staging post and a rare volcanic island Biome that they are trying to restore/protect so thats the reason for the bio security measures.. Australia and NZ tend to be equally protective these days hardly suprising considering some of the past dissasters theyve experienced with introduced pests and diseases. The forward sailing cockpit will reduce your work load and exposure to danger especially at night. A leading sailing publication recently reported on survival rates from MOB accidents in 🇬🇧 lattitudes survival times were aroud 4-6min before the victim lost strength and overall survival rates were 47% or less even on favourable conditions .. in rough seas rain or at night things got very bad. Remember the sun might be warm but the oceans are deep. Refueling wear a harness ...if you hit a container or other floating object normal can dissapear in an instant and with recent storms its estimated theres hundreds to thousands of floating hazards out there at the moment. Play but play safely ...

Greetings! Huge respect dealing with seasick children on passage - can't even begin .. .... . You've probably been too busy to follow the Fastnet but you may be interested in catching up 'cause there were some great multihull moments - more than 80 retirements due to weather conditions but all monohull. Nigel Iren's designed _Allegra_ had a great run and one of her advantages was weight - she's 20tons ! People constantly howl about aluminium being heavier than composites but when you know, you know ... . Fair winds.
